The story behind the scene:
It was a quiet, deserted city that was once resplendent and bustling before a huge pack of
behemoths stormed through it, leveling several buildings and forcing many to either shelter
in place or flee the city.
Many a man and Moogle escaped from the vicious beasts' fury, only to wind up losing their
homes and possessions, likened to those who were victims to natural disasters.
One Moogle, named Maida, who had been scared awake by the alarms of the disaster, ran as best
as she can from the city, nearly getting trampled by the stampede of fleeing people, and escaping
into a nearby empty basement as devastation was wrought by the behemoths' crushing feet.
The moment she had left her previous shelter, it collapsed into itself, leaving Maida to seek a
shelter in an alley with a box as her home. Maida suffered injury from the escaping populace,
her ears and body bruised by falling debris. She was lucky to find a bed sheet to make bandages
for her injuries, a few pieces of dried meat and a few bottles of water. She curled up inside of
the empty crate as the cold rain began to fall in the empty, destroyed city.
A few days later, some of the citizens returned to the city, finding the shops and markets
cleaned out from both the beasts that came through and the looters that followed after. Maida
was out of both food and water when the people came back. She had no choice but to beg
for help.
Nobody wanted to help her because they needed help themselves and people wasn't too
generous to a beggar, let alone a Moogle who stayed in a box among the ruins.
A white mage named Eric had come to help the injured survivors of the disaster, but there
were very few people who needed his help. He happened to spot the Moogle dressed in
tattered clothes in the box. Maida looked up weakly and saw the young stranger kneeling
down, looking at her.
Eric reached dow and asked, "Are you in need of help? I can heal you, if you need so."
Maida nodded and reached her hand out for it to rest in Eric's. Overwhelmed at the honest
display of concern toward her, tears began to run down her face.
"Could you, if you were able to, take me home?" she asked.
"Yes, I can", the mage replied as he picked her up like an infant. "I got an apartment that we
can share as you heal up. By the way, my name's Eric. What's your name?"
"My name is Maida," the Moogle said as she hugged her rescuer as best as she could as
Eric carried her to his home
