Art block has been hitting me really hard, as of late.
I feel like I’m taking ten steps back with a lot of these inktober doodles.
Several days behind, I decided to just do a quick doodle of a bongo... and then did a posative negative ink of it. 100% values.
Then I lit it on fire... as one does, when the word of the day is “ash”

Been there pretty often with the feeling of going backwards despite spending more time on getting better at something (seems to happen with exercise as well). Guess it's just a normal part of the process, especially when trying out new and unfamiliar things, but also something that seems happen from time to time for no obvious reason.
Personally what I try to do when things feel a little too hard is to try let go of my expectations a little and just make sure I put a decent effort into what I'm doing. Taking a short break might be helpful too if you feel too exhausted - recovery is important when learning new things.
Think it also makes more sense to compare yourself to a version of you who is in the same situation that you are right now but didn't put in the time to get better, rather than to a past version of you.
Anyway, hope this comes off as helpful and encouraging. I'm half writing this for myself because I feel my attempts at drawing have been going nowhere for some days now.

Like the idea, don't think it would work nearly as well if it wasn't a negative ink piece <3

I really appreciate it : )
Things don't always work out. The most important thing is to keep moving.
I suppose... Sometimes a step backwards can bring you closer to progress. Every now and then you have to back up, and walk the long way around an obstacle, just to get by it. I'd love to be able to easily step over every hinderance that may arise, but that's not how life works.
Progress, with every step.
One hoof in front of the other.
