Kherrox checked the clock in the middle of town square for a third time before letting out an annoyed grumble. An hour past mid-day! The pesky mage that had hired him told him to be here at noon sharp. His client mentioned that he needed to pick up a few alchemical ingredients at the various magic shops scattered throughout this village, but he hadn't seen the mage since they had arrived together. The draygas barbarian fidgeted in place and bounced his leg, a tic of his that he couldn't shake since he was a child. Though, Kherrox could have sworn he felt a pinch of some kind on his thigh... He glanced down out of mild curiosity, and saw some kind of bug on his scales. He frowned and brushed it away before his gaze rose up: he heard footsteps approaching! Finally, the mage was back! Kherrox was ready to give his client an earful about how one should be punctual, but it turned out that a random human from the village was just walking by. Kherrox snorted grumpily -- he was definitely going to demand extra money for being made to sit around and wait when his client did finally show up!
Taking a moment to adjust his armor and footwear, Kherrox began tapping the wood of the bench with a sharp talon. He would wait a little longer before ditching the mage and finding another job, he supposed...

Danathius watched in horror as one of Kherrox's hands moved closer to him. The half dragon had seen him, but likely hadn't recognized him as his client! He waved his hands uselessly, but a shadow eclipsed his form, and the massive handpaw brushed him away forcefully. The mage was thankful that Kherrox didn't seem particularly interested in squashing bugs, but as the human skidded across the dragyas's leg scales, he couldn't help but feel a deep dread that he would fall from Kherrox's body to the ground below! Coincidentally, the human was half-right. He slid over the precipice of Kherrox's knee, and promptly found himself subjected to gravity's jurisdiction. Fortunately, rather than plummeting to the ground below, Danathius grabbed hold of the remainder of Kherrox's leg, and he tumbled down the behemoth's limb until he descended upon a soft and fluffy surface: the fur lining of one of Kherrox's boots! Relieved at his good fortune, Danathius wiped the cold sweat from his forehead: he would just have to get the half dragon's attention somehow, now.
The mass of muscle and scale against which Danathius rested shifted away before he could react, and the human fell forward with nothing to support his weight. He yelped as loud as a shrunken human could muster while free-falling into a deep, dark and musty pit. Danathius landed on the soft, slightly damp insole of the massive barbarian's boot. The interior of the footwear was dark, but a brilliant ray of light shone down from the opening. Reacting quickly, the human picked himself and glanced upward to see the visage of one of the dragon's huge footpaws beginning its re-entrance into the boot! Knowing that would trap him, and fearing for his life, Danathius again tried to use a spell to get Kherrox's attention. A lightning spell, this time! Hopefully the shock would be enough... As those titanic toes crept toward the shrunken human, however, Danathius had a sinking suspicious that the dragon wouldn't even feel the slightest of pricks...

A fun read and nice to see more of a human in trouble in the barbaric boot.
He'll have a lot of fun adventures in that boot! Maybe!
