English Translation:
The Kind Dragon [15 December 1432]
The priest pulled out a wooden cross,
‘Turn back, demon! This place is not for you!’
The dragon snorted, ‘But what have I done to you?’
The priest replied, ‘Your kind burnt our towns!’
‘But I was not the one to do it.’
The priest lowered his cross, ‘Who are you?’
‘I am the Kind Dragon.’
The farmer lifted his old rake,
‘Turn back demon! This place is not for you!’
The dragon snorted, ‘But what have I done to you?’
The farmer replied, ‘Your kind devour our cattle!’
‘But I was not the one to do it.’
The farmer held up his shovel, ‘Who are you?’
‘I am the Kind Dragon.’
The child hid behind a flimsy wagon,
‘Turn back demon! This place is not for you!’
The dragon snorted, ‘But what have I done to you?’
The child replied, ‘Your kind scare many people!’
‘But I was not the one to do it.’
The child peeked from under the wagon, ‘Who are you?’
‘I am the Kind Dragon.’
The knight pulled out his spear,
‘Turn back demon! This place is not for you!’
The dragon snorted, ‘But what have I done to you?’
The knight replied, ‘Your kind deserves to die!’
And the Dragon ate him alive,
Because he was the Kind Dragon.
