Hi everyone! Sorry for my long dissappearing, getting back into writing again, nothing major here, just a short story about what happens to ordinary people when Azuri's and Battle Sisters clash!
I'll do a short second half a bit later! Just warming up if i'm honest, figured it chuck it on here! Enjoy!
"“What the fuck is going on...?” - Maolow held his head in his hands. His city was on fire, there were fights going on in broad daylight resulting in the deaths of innocents and the destruction of property on a scale close to that of a full war. Yet, there was no war, not as he understood it. His city was deep into Orion territory with no sight of enemy ships or war vessels even close. In fact, Orion had been in a relatively peaceful time, even on the borders – And the city had been doing well! Maolow took the office off the back of a promotion 25 years ago and the city had never done so well across all criteria in the past 15 years...
Yet citizens were being caught up and brutalised in the streets. Footage was coming in from multiple drone sources, hovering around the action. The aggressors were giant women...? One of them stood 12ft tall and was fighting multiple normal looking people, only they were wielding swords of some sort? One of them leapt at the larger girl but was caught mid air and twisted in half like she was nothing...
He cut the footage. He didn't need to see this.
Finally however, back-up came. An air to orbit transport landed on the main office building, a giant glass spire that towered over the local area. From it, one of Orion's most senior advisors on exotic species and warfare. The executive meeting room was made available and she made her way there, looking as concerned as Maolow did.
“I'm glad you could make it in such short notice Dr. Velga, thank you for coming.”
“No problem Maolow. We treat the inner planets seriously when it comes to violence like this. I've been watching the drone footage on my way here...”
They both took seats at the round table, the on-going damage was clearly visible from all points of the building, with it being mostly glass, it was difficult to hide from it.
“Whats happening to my city Doctor? We've had no threats, no issues, no war... What are these creatures? These giant women? What the hell is going on?”
The doctor took a few seconds to answer, scratching her chin.
“Maolow, these uh... 'women', the giant ones? We believe they are Azuri's.”
“What...? Why are they here?! Why are they attacking us?”
“I don't believe they're attacking your city Maolow, they're attacking their creatures within it.”
“I'm sorry, how is that any different?” He sighed in frustration. Briefly in the background, another building in the far distance collapsed, a large figure ploughing through it and hammering the street with her fists, several smaller figures were scattered into the air.
“Tell me Maolow, your city, 'Rinfelga', am I pronouncing that right? Your city had an unpredicted boon across nearly all metrix, starting around 15-20 years ago, mortality declined, education levels starting rising, productivity increased, crime declined massively...”
“Yes...?”
“Why do you think this happened?”
“Well... I'd like to think I made it happen... with policies and-”
“Of course you would, but you don't seriously believe that do you? No, I believe you had a 'Battle Sister problem' before you had an Azuri problem.”
Maolow stared blankly.
“Battle Sisters are an alien citizen, they pretty much fit in with the rest of us, only their female only. They tend to massively outperform native citizens on all criteria, they're smarter, stronger, they get along better, their healthier, both mentally and physically.... if i'm honest, they're pretty much perfect. They don't so much invade as they do assimilate, they sneak in and just make things better. When Battle Sisters integrate into our colonies, they make things safer, more organised and more effective. We've never managed to speak to any kind of ambassador or anything nor do we ever see them coming. They just sort of appear and get on with it.
Most of the time, we only notice because of the improvements they make, it starts subtle but really adds up over time, as you well know. Sometimes they stick out like sore thumbs due to their physical strength but... most of the time, you wouldn't even know their around. They don't replace the existing population or do anything particularly bad... they just integrate and make things better.”
“Well... that explains the last few years but i'm still missing some pretty big pieces of the puzzle... do you want to explain why these super citizens have led to my city getting beaten up by some giant women?!”
“Right. So, Battle Sisters have one major flaw. Its one reason why we monitor them. They attract Azuri's. Don't ask me why but the Azuri's and Battle Sisters hate each-other. Beyond reason. They fight to the death every damn time, only problem is, the Azuri's thoroughly outclass the Sisters. We don't know much about the Azuri's, not really, they seem to be giant warmachines disguised as women. But what we do know, theres not many of them. Not enough for them to sporadically attack random cities. They're here for a reason.”
“They're attacking our Battle Sisters?”
“Right and wrong. Don't call them “our” Battle Sisters. We really cannot afford to take sides. If the Azuri's thought we were working with them... You don't wanna know. The Azuri's are here to kill the Battle Sisters here. They don't care about collateral damage, they'll destroy anything in their way.”
“But those Battle Sisters were our citizens! They worked for us! They-”
“It'll be for nought if you try and stop those Azuri's. They'll rip this whole city down, we've seen them do it...”
“So... what?! You were supposed to bring answers and back-up! We can't let our people get murdered down there!”
“You are to stand your officers down immediately and focus on rescuing people, getting them out the way of the fighting. The Sisters don't stand down when they've been found, they'll fight to the last and lose every one in the process. We just need to wait it out and keep as many people safe as we can.”
“This is insane!”
“If we intervene, the Azuri's will come for us.”
“We're Orion industries! We have a massive armed forces branch! Call in the big guns!”
“We did. The Azuri's here at the moment... they're lightweight compared to what else they can bring. And even these ones are too much for us to handle. The Universal Council recommends strict pacifism and cease fire tactics against Azuri's. If you've seen what they're capable of, you'd know thats the only option we have.”
“I refuse to believe that the might of Orion Industries cannot handle some stupid giant brutes!”
“They're god damn bullet proof you moron! They can orbital drop with no armour on! They might as well be Gods for all we care! Order your men to stand down or you risk the entire city!”
“I don't believe in Gods Doctor!”
“Then what exactly is smashing your city to pieces Mayor?!”
Maolow paused and glanced through the glass again, there were more fires than earlier, more of the city scape was missing. There was a deep rumble, one that shook the entire building. Just outside the buildings energy perimeter stood a single Azuri. Her body just tall enough to peer over the wall. Each thud of her footsteps shook the ground violently. She was some sort of Tiger/Dragon cross species, with the word “Kurse” etched across her armour. A giant hammer was strapped to her back, the head of which was easily larger than a car and undoubtedly weighed several times more.
The centres armed guards were pointing their rifles at her on the street, laser guides shaking with each of their nervous gasps. She frowned at the building from under white hair, making her mind up.
Both the doctor and the mayor were now at the glass wall, looking down at her.
“I know her Maolow. She could level this building in the single hit, I've seen her do it. Tell your men to stand down, power down the defences, don't give her a reason.”
Maolow weighed her up, from up here, she didn't look that big, his men were chattering across the comms channels though, nothing but pure fear coming from these hardened veterans. She had walked through the surrounding buildings like they didn't exist, not even in any rush, just walked through them. Her armour exposed a lot of her skin, he wondered if rail guns would hurt her.
She began walking down the main road, parallel to the building, still eyeing it up. The thud of her feet could be felt across the city.
“Maolow. Don't do it. Those rifles won't hurt her, I promise you. Her skin is harder than you could ever imagine.”
Surely that couldn't be real? Railguns could damage pretty much anything, they creatures had to obey the rules of physics...
“Maolow! Tell your men to stand down!”
The Battle Sisters had been invaluable, the city had been struggling before with crime and productivity issues, more than this doctor could understand. This city was meant to be a punishment for him, the Sisters had transformed his life. He was “promoted” into pure hell, leaving the ones who'd turned this place around just didn't seem right.
“Maolow!”
The large figure outside had made it to the main gates and stood still, looking up at the tower. She stretched and hand back and grabbed the handle of her hammer, still frowning at the building as she surveyed it through the glass exterior.
Maolow tapped his communicator and took a deep breathe, putting it up to his mouth.
“Stand down men. Power down the fence. Do not engage the Azuri's.”"

Kurse wouldn’t happen to be interested in a “friendly” game of RISK would she?
Ok, now that we've established that Kurse is a total bitch, I'd like to see the Doomslayer performing a Glory Kill on her.
