(Here's a quick fantasy vore story about birds. This was fun to write. Let me know if you see any mistakes...this probably could've used more intensive editing...)
Skyler shook the dew off his feathers, ruffling them in the cool morning air. He wouldn’t trade sleeping under the stars for anything, but sometimes it had its disadvantages. Exposure was one of them, and every now and then he found himself wishing he had a soft nest to sleep in instead of an exposed tree branch. Dwelling on discomfort would do little to alleviate it, however, and at the moment there was no better alternative available this far into the wilderness.
Yawning, the blue jay turned his attention to the clearing below. His pack was still where he left it. To the east, the sky was just turning pink, the sun would be rising soon. All around him were the dark silhouettes of pine trees. In the distance he could see the dark profile of snow capped mountains, looking almost like dulled teeth in the morning twilight. Solo patrol was a duty often left to lower ranking recruits...it was undesirable duty, monotonous, and lonely. But at the moment, none of that mattered as the sun broke the horizon, bathing the forest in a soothing pastel palette of pink, purple and orange.
The young jay soaked it in for a moment, heart soaring with the rising sun. He had just one more day and he’d be back home, finished with his first assignment as a defender. The prospect of returning home excited him...once a defender had completed their first mission, they were officially part of the coalition between species, serving a more noble purpose, protecting the innocent from the terrors of the night. His family would be proud.
A pang of hunger brought his thoughts back to earth. It was time for breakfast! With a spring of his legs, he hopped skyward from the branch, fluttering deftly to the ground. His pack still had a few berries in it from yesterday. Hopping to the base of the tree, he fumbled with the pack for a moment, skillful talons undoing the clasp to reveal the goodies inside, before swallowing two of them, saving a few for later. The berries were a little soft going down, perhaps even a little fermented, but they filled his crop comfortably. He’d have his fill of better pickings later, after returning to camp.
Turning back to his pack, he began donning his gear. The supplies gave him a sense of pride...they’d been developed by his sub-family, corvidae, to make the coalition a more effective fighting force, and were now supplied to all new recruits. Included were a tunic, woven cloth armor, a tiny little belt, flying goggles and even a small sword. The clothes were pretty restrictive compared to his natural feathers, but the senior recruits had assured him he would get used to wearing them. In the decade since the coalition had been formed, the protection offered by the clothes and goggles had proven to be worth it in combat.
After he’d finished donning his gear, Skyler slung his pack over his back, poking his wings through the straps to keep it in place. Glancing around to make sure he hadn’t forgotten anything (an ignonomous offense), he took to the air, fluttering his way quickly past the treetops looking for...something…
Part of him was convinced patrol duty was nothing more than a show of fealty...a test of resolve even. He couldn’t see what other purpose was served by a week of shivering and solitude. There would be little tactical advantage to learning of a predator this far into the wilderness. By the time he got back to camp, any intelligence would already be old. If nothing else, spending a week in the middle of nowhere for the benefit of the coalition would help sort the strong from the weak. They’d all need to be strong, if the camp was ever discovered by a predator. He shuddered at the thought.
Luckily, his patrol and others had uncovered no evidence of such a thing, and he was almost home. One more day of flight and he’d be there...and hopefully he wouldn’t have to go on any more patrol duty.
……
Prince flexed his talons, digging them into the wood of his favorite perch as he cast a lazy eye over the clearing below. The golden eagle, with his elegant plumage, imposing beak and razor sharp talons, made an impressive sight perched high in a tree at the edge of the forest. Although there was plenty of nearby prey to be had, he wasn't in the mood to vacate his perch just to expend precious energy chasing a single scrawny field mouse. Although the sport of catching and swallowing such prey in a single gulp often proved a pleasure, today he was in the mood for something easier, and if possible, somewhat more...substantial. The thought caused his belly to ache. He swallowed dryly, realizing he was quite parched. Thirst was another matter entirely, and the eagle found the prospect of placating his empty crop with cool, clean water quite appealing. He spread his wings, crossing the clearing with a single flap of his pinions. Birds ceased their song and mammals froze in fear as his immense shadow passed over them.
……
At midday, Skyler stopped again, near a small brook bubbling its way through a grassy clearing. Eating the last few berries in his pack left him thirsty, and he stumbled his way to the water for a nice, cool drink. A few swallows of fresh water cleared his head a bit. Perhaps those berries had been a little more fermented than he’d realized! Now that he was on the ground, he was finding it more than a little difficult to stay upright. For the first time he was glad this was a solo patrol. His superiors would indeed have his head for this if they knew! A giddiness spread through him at the realization, perhaps spurred on by his inebriation. In his mirth he failed to notice that a silence had befallen the clearing. There was no bird song, no rustling of leaves or whispering of grass as mammals went about their day. There was nothing but a heavy silence that lay over the forest like a blanket.
"Drunk on patrol!" Skyler chirped, with a laugh.
"You better not let your superiors know about this!" a charismatic voice exclaimed behind him.
The jay's feathers stood on end, suddenly sobered by a chilling anxiety.
Slowly, he turned around, heart leaping into his mouth as he saw a dark, majestic eagle towering over him, big golden eyes gleaming with an intelligent, cruel, self-satisfaction.
"You...you.." his voice faltered.
"Don't worry little bird, they won't find you out" the eagle said, feigning kindness. "I'll make sure of that!"
In his drunken state, everything felt muddled. By the time Skyler's mind sorted out the gravity of his situation, it was already too late. He tried to take flight, but everything felt like it was moving in slow motion...except for the eagle, who made short work of his escape by pinning him to the ground between sharp talons.
"Eeep!" he exclaimed in surprise at the sudden constraint placed upon him. He was trapped, wings pinned to either side, unable to move!
"Let...let me go!" he cried, trying to grasp for his sword. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be seen. He must've dropped it in the grass somewhere.
"Why, what're you going to do? Kill me?" the eagle sneered, laughing cruelly in his face. Skyler cringed, able to smell the wild heat of his breath now that that horrible beak was mere inches away. He could even flashes of horrid, slimy darkness inside of the predator's mouth as he spoke. The taunts hurt, but he decided to try to talk. At this rate it was a miracle he hadn't already had the life crushed the life out of him!
"No...wait, please mr. eagle...that's not-"
"You may call me Prince. I know what your little coalition is all about. Trust me, I've eaten enough of you to know. You'd like nothing more than to see me dead! Like always, you will fail!" Prince said, licking his chops.
"You savage! You'll pay for this!" Skyler chirped, struggling angrily against his captor.
"I hope I will" Prince said, grinning maliciously. "Feasting upon your little patrols has kept my belly full for some time."
Skyler looked away, unable to meet the raptor's evil gaze. Deep inside him he began to feel a hopelessness grow within. Eaten on his first mission. An undistinguished end.
"You're a monster!" he cried, squirming with all his might against the iron grip of the eagle's talons.
"I've always liked you blue jays" Prince observed, bringing his menacing head even closer to his struggling prey.
"You've got so much spunk."
Then, he lowered his head and opened his jaws widely. Skyler winced as the eagle lowered his beak, but the killing blow that he expected did not come. Instead, the predator's tongue mashed roughly into his feathers, tasting him. The monster slobbered everywhere as he slurped him greedily, soaking and matting down his feathers in slick, warm saliva. It dripped in stands and globs from the predator's bill as he drooled, revelling in the taste of his prey.
Skyler shuddered in terror as he saw an expression of bliss cross over the raptor's face. This was a creature that lived to eat his kind...that took a sick pleasure in murdering and devouring everything and everyone he held dear. A creature of pure evil. And at this moment, he was on the menu, powerless to do anything but sit and listen to each discusting suckling slurp and squish that the raptor's tongue made as it tasted...teased him, degrading him to nothing more but a small hunk of meat and feathers, food to be devoured!
After a few moments, the soaking slobber and became unbearable, slicking him down to the bone. At this point, even if he was given a chance to get away, he'd be too heavy to even get off the ground.
"Ugh...please, stop!" he begged, sputtering as the disgusting slobber got in his eyes and mouth. It was everywhere, Prince was everywhere, shadowing his entire vision with feathers, heating him with quickening, moist breath, pressing against him, holding him in place, examining him, tasting him, assaulting him with slurps and saliva and raptorial hunger and greed. The predator's presence was overwhelming. But to Skyler's disbelief, the licking stopped, the terrifying beak pulled away. In this moment of respite, he became aware of his own rapidly beating heart. He shivered as the wind hit his feathers and soaked clothes. There was nothing to protect him now.
"Is a little bath really so bad?" Prince asked teasingly, nipping at Skyler's feathers with his beak.
The little jay shuddered uncontrollably with terror. Surely the eagle couldn't be grooming him. In his heart he knew it couldn't be so. Mind games aside, the predator's intentions were as plain as day.
"...or would you rather I just eat you and get it over with?" he continued darkly, opening his jaws wide once more. This time Skyler could see the darkness of the eagle's gullet, an oblivion from which there could be no escape.
"Oh...no!" Skyler squeaked timidly, terrified by how casually the eagle discussed ending his life...like he was no more than a berry or tasty seed, a snack to be enjoyed no more than a few moments, before an inevitable swallow.
"Heh. I suspected as much" the eagle said, chuckling dangerously while gently straightening Skyler's slicked down feathers.
The jay whimpered quietly, keeping his mouth shut for a moment while his captor groomed him. The eagle was surprisingly gentle, like he'd done this before. Skyler shuddered, imagining the bloody fate of his predecessors. He dreaded being torn limb from limb. At the very least it would be a quick death.
"Aren't you going to beg me not to eat you?" Prince taunted.
Skyler didn't answer. What was the point. He didn't want to give the eagle the satisfaction, especially if he wouldn't get anything for it. Instead he thought of home. An overwhelming sadness overcame him. That he'd never be inducted as a new recruit, never complete his mission, never see his friends or family again. There was still so much to life that he would never get to experience.
"Oh, well." Prince sighed.
"If you've got nothing left to say, I'll just eat you now."
Then that terrifying beak came for him again, gaping, beconing, ready to take him! The sight, along with his sadness brought Skyler back to his senses.
"W-wait!" he chirped, squirming desperately in the eagle's grip to get his attention.
"Ah, there's the begging" Prince said, with a patronizing smile.
"Can't we make a deal or something?" Skyler entreated, racking his booze addled brain for something he could trade the eagle in exchange for his life.
"I've already got an arrangement with a little pipsqueak just like you. I don't see what you could offer that he doesn't" Prince said dismissively.
Skyler hung his head.
The eagle regarded him silently for a moment, perhaps even with an air of sympathy. Then his eyes lit up.
"Of course, if you were willing to tell me where to find your little friends, I might be willing to spare you."
Skyler swallowed apprehensively. The offer was desperately appealing, but the only thing worse than an undignified and undistinguished death at the talons of a predator would be the shame of abandoning his commitment to the coalition. Such a deal with a raptor would constitute the most grievous of betrayals. Anyone that survived the destruction the eagle would almost certainly wrought upon the camp would carry nothing but contempt for him. The shame and guilt would be too much to bear.
"Well?" the eagle asked, pressing him with a gentle squeeze of his talons.
Skyler coughed as his breath was crushed out of him.
"I...I can't do that" he gasped, trembling in fear once more.
"Well, then we have nothing more to discuss. At least you are an honorable little soldier. I'll be gentle, and swallow you as painlessly as possible."
Skyler looked up at the eagle. He had the distinct impression that had things been different, they could've been friends.
"You...you're not going to tear me apart?"
"Oh, no, not me! I'm not a nice guy, but I don't need my prey to suffer needlessly. That, and I like to feel my prey wriggle on the way down" he continued darkly, bringing that sinister beak just inches away from the trapped songbird.
Skyler shuddered at the last part, not forgetting for an instant that he was talking to a savage predator, but he still felt a little relieved. The idea of being torn limb from limb while still alive terrified him. Suffocation, he imagined, would be a little better.
"...good..." he choked meekly, unsure how even to respond in this situation.
Prince grinned to himself at the jay's feeble squeak of acceptance. It gave him a good air of finality for which to begin this feeding, an understanding of sorts between predator and prey. Feeling that living prey trembling within his grasp gave him a great excitement. His insides ached to have Skyler inside him, to nourish his great body and give him life. He had the jay entirely encircled in his talons. This would be a comfortable, lazy feeding. No need to chase or even lunge for his prey! The eagle drooled copiously as he brought his outstretched jaws downwards.
Skyler shuddered, swallowing nervously as the predator's jaws came for him once more, this time in finality! Despite knowing that escape would be impossible while gripped by the eagle's talons, instinct demanded that he try to free himself. This would be his only chance. As expected, the squirms did little other than please the eagle.
As Prince's jaws stretched wider, the sun illuminated the inside of his mouth, giving Skyler a glimpse of where he would soon be going! From his vantage point, there was nowhere to look but into the abyss. He could see the glistening flesh of the tongue as it flowed backwards into the mouth and then into the darkness of the raptor's gullet. Strings of slobber stretched their way sinuously between the tongue and the roof of the mouth as the eagle's maw drooled, anticipating the coming meal. The raptor's wild breath was overwhelming, for a second he could feel it's warmth before the beak clamped down on him. He squeaked, squirming a bit as the sharp upper mandible pressed on him; the eagle had decided to lift him by the neck, leaving his drool soaked body dangling beneath hooked jaws for a split second before he was thrown roughly upwards.
Prince grasped his prey lightly by the neck with his bill, gently transferring the jay from the grip of his talons to that of his beak. A sharp squeak of pain from his prey made him jump; perhaps the treatment of being lifted by the neck was a little too rough. Quickly, he raised his head and gave his jaws a gentle toss, before jerking his head forward and working his jaws with a quick jacking motion to hold his prey more securely. As he did so, he pulled in with his tongue, using it's naturally hooked shape to pull his prey inwards. The Jay's flavor against his tongue was tantalizing...sweet, terrified.
Skyler couldn't have flown during the split second of free fall even if his wings weren't already slicked down by eagle drool. As it was, he was "free" of the raptor's grasp for only a split second, for with one expert maneuver Prince had only tossed him further into his mouth. The eagle's jaws clacked forward quickly and greedily around him, pinning his wings to the side. Skyler scrabbled in terror as he was quickly engulfed by a few animalistic gloms of the predator's beak. The raptor's saliva was everywhere, soaking him to the bone. The blood heat of the maw was shocking, disgusting. Lying on his belly against the predator's long, slippery tongue, Skyler could barely move, even as Prince paused for a moment, cruely suckling and slurping his belly, leaving nowhere untasted, somehow soaking him down even more than before. He could feel the warmth of the tongue supporting him from beneath and the roughness of the ridges of the eagle's palate holding him from above. Even if he could somehow move himself backwards, the eagle's physiology would prevent it.
Prince crooned in appreciation, revelling in how Skyler comfortably filled his mouth, leaving him with a pleasant weight on his tongue. The sensation filled him with insatiable anticipation. Lifting his beak skyward, he relaxed the muscles in his neck, loosening his throat to allow Skyler's head and neck to squeeze inside, pushed inwards by his own weight.
Now that his head was pressed into the opening of the raptor's throat Skyler couldn't even breath, yet he could still feel and hear the slick squelches of the predator's mouth as the jaws worked around him and the gullet began to stretch to take him in. Skyler felt dizzy as the eagle raised his head (for he was now essentially upside down), sliding him forward against his tongue with a quick jerk before closing his beak, leaving nothing but a pair of legs and some pretty blue feathers sticking out to either side.
Two more jerking snaps of his jaws, head and neck allowed Prince to get the Jay's body the rest of the way into his mouth, even as his head was pressed further into the ravenous depths lying beyond. Skyler's squirms (fairly limited due to the tightness of fitting such a meal in his mouth in a single bite) felt wonderful pressed into the stretchy crook of his neck. Having his prey on the edge of his throat like this awoke eons of instinct. Slowly, deliberately, he squished his tongue upwards, pressing Skyler roughly inwards. He raised his head and swallowed gluttonously.
Skyler shuddered in horror and revulsion as he was assaulted by the squelch of slimy flesh squishing in on itself, realizing instantly what was happening. The tongue below him surged upwards, even as he felt himself tilted forward. His own weight, in tandem with a slight jerk on the part of the eagle helped toss him and the slime surrounding him into the abyss as the raptor's tongue shoved him into the throat. From everywhere came a squeezing, accompanied by an audible 'ulk' as he was swallowed whole. The greedy eagle had really done it, and now he was being rammed savagly down a hungry gullet in one piece, nothing but a lump pushing up sleek feathers to the outside world. He could feel the slick gullet walls distend around him as he slid downwards into the darkness, pressed inwards from all sides.
From the outside a visible bulge pressed it's way down the curve of a raptorial neck, driven by the undulating convulsion of peristalsis. Prince closed his eyes blissfully, enjoying the tight feeling of forcing a whole songbird down his gullet. He swallowed again, and again, hard, moving his head rhythmically in tune with the undulations of his neck, with an audible glrk..glk....glurk! This took some more effort than his favorite bite sized field mice, yet would leave him with a more satisfying fullness upon reaching his crop, which he could feel the prey nearing now. Pausing to reposition his head to make his food sit within his throat more comfortably, he gulped once, and then twice more, humming with pleasure as he felt his prey slide easily now. The lump in his neck squished further downwards, appearing to stand his feathers on end a bit as it passed beneath them before gently swelling his crop.
Skyler felt like the life was being crushed out of him as he was assaulted by gulp after gulp. Luckily (or unluckily, perhaps), his progress downwards did not falter, in part due to the repulsive lubricants and slime the eagle's body had provided to aid in swallowing him. After a moment, he felt the tightness around him begin to slacken. Then he stopped altogether, slumped into Prince's stretchy crop, which distended take him entirely. Now some panic began to set in, as he felt the slippery ridges distending around him and a gross soup of gullet slime and eagle slobber puddling beneath him. He was trapped in the belly of an eagle! Although there was limited room to move, he resumed struggling, for the simple reason of not knowing what else there was to do. Struggling soon led to exhaustion though, and almost immediately he was left gasping to breathe what little stale air had been swallowed along with him.
Prince licked his chops, ruffling his feathers with a self-satisfied smirk. While the blue jay didn't appease his appetite entirely, at least he added a noticeable weight to his crop, and the fluttering and floundering about felt good inside him.
"You sure were a tasty treat, little morsel" he said, taunting his prey as he felt the small bird pushing against him from inside. The wriggling stopped for a second, before resuming.
"Struggling will do you no good," he continued, sensing his prey was trying to ignore his taunting.
The squirming stopped.
"You...you're horrible!" Skyler's reedy voice piped from within the eagle's crop.
Prince chuckled darkly, voice resonating within him.
"I suppose it's a matter of perspective. I feel pretty good at the moment, little bird."
"Why are you doing this to me?" Skyler implored.
"Oh, I thought that would be pretty obvious, morsel."
"Do you treat all your prey this way?"
"Oh, no! I was gentle with you."
"You call being eaten alive gentle?" the jay squeaked.
"Yes. I could've ripped you in half, remember? Luckily for you, I much prefer to take my prey whole and kicking, so they get to enjoy the trip all the way down to my belly. I have a little friend just like you who assures me it is quite pleasurable. As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed pushing you down my gullet like the little nugget you are!"
Skyler felt anger willing within him...and hopelessness. The eagle was toying with him. His head drooped, and he stopped pressing against the slick walls of the raptor's crop, slumping down instead into a puddle of his own drool-sodden feathers. He would never see anyone he cared about again. The thought ached to the core, and he stifled a sob, imagining he'd be missed back home.
"I don't want to be a part of your sick game. If you won't let me go, just let me die in peace" he finally said, trying to hold back tears.
Prince grinned evilly above the lump in his crop.
"In that case, I am happy to oblige you!" he said happily.
Skyler didn't dignify the eagle with response, instead trying to relax and think of home...think of anything but where he was now, and what was about to happen to him. Already he was light headed from lack of oxygen. The eagle's empty crop pressed in on him from all sides, slowly relaxing to massage him deeper within it's fleshy folds. He could hear the sounds of the predator's body all around him, the steady thrum of his heartbeat, the gentle gusts of his breath...the gurgles of his gut...further down, beneath him. Already the eagle's body was ready to digest him. Skyler had the impression that he was the only thing the eagle had eaten in some time. He had been held in the crop for just a short amount of time and already it was loosening to allow him to slide deeper into the eagle's belly.
Prince ruffled his feathers, as he felt his prey slip from his crop into his belly. He raised his head, massaging the lump in his neck with a few gentle gulps to help the process along. A satisfying fullness replaced the churn of hunger within him.
In the eagle's stomach the air was almost non-existent. Skyler felt a slight irritation on his skin as he was squelched from the relative comfort of the eagle's crop into this new, tighter chamber. The darkness was complete around him. The eagle's heartbeat and breathing now sounded above him, and the gurgles of thick, soupy digestive fluids and the slime bath from the eagle's crop filling the belly around him were overwhelming. He squirmed a bit, but there was almost no room to move. After just a moment he began succumbing to anoxia and heat exhaustion, and the tight, slimy darkness that remained of his world faded away to blackness.
From outside, what was an almost imperceptible bulge in the eagle's lower neck was now not even visible at all. Prince stretched his wings, feeling a deep satisfaction as Skyler finally stopped moving within him. Now all that remained was a pleasant fullness. He spread his wings, and leapt into the sky, heading down into the valley below, a single thought on his mind. Where one warrior had wandered, there were sure to be more.
Skyler shook the dew off his feathers, ruffling them in the cool morning air. He wouldn’t trade sleeping under the stars for anything, but sometimes it had its disadvantages.

I thought this was a fun, and well-written little story with no grammatical errors that I could see. I think this is a first for me though, imagining a sword wielding blue jay. I can only imagine they might look a bit like a feathered raptor type dinosaur with fingers able to grasp a weapon. An image of such a creature to accompany the story would have been welcome. I would have enjoyed this more if there was a bit more post-vore, like maybe discovering some acid softened bones of a previous recent meal and though pitch black in there, to his horror grasps a skull that still has the beak attached and realizes it is probably another member of his team, which might be confimed after feeling sodden feathers, cloth, and a military belt complete with a buckle exactly like his. Once digested there might be enough indigestible remains in the Eagle's stomach to warrant forming a pellet, and as a form of contempt for his wannabe slayers, ejects it mid air so it drops down in the middle of a meeting place of the song bird coalition. His blue colored feathers, and maybe the other was a cardinal with red ones, intermingles in the pellet along with bits of uniforms, belts and jumbled, yellowed bones would let them know what happened to their most recent patrol.
It would be fun to see this story continue.... thanks for sharing!

If you're wondering what pronoun to use, I'm male
I sometimes draw birds hacking up bones, but I decided to end this story before that. I don't do any kind of scat, and I like digestion...well the way that I wrote it.

Kinda figured you were male, but like to be sure before I go and start using that term.
Anyways, stuff like coughing up bones or pellets is the only "disposal" I'll do. Though I'm more of less only interested in digestion if there is some type of reformation involved anyways. Still, I do really like this one, you managed to basically give the blue jay an entire character just in the timeframe of the story. Down to the details of being swallowed. You definitely know your stuff. Nice to see more bird lovers out there.
By the way, I read somewhere a while back that even some songbirds like robins may occasionally cough up the casings of insect wings and whatnot in the form of a pellet.
That's about it, once again, nice stuff.

Sounds cool. I may at some point. I've read up on all of your characters already, and I like 'em all.
