It's just a happy little family that happens to include a couple of horrible man eaters.
Swallowing and digesting a man almost as big as you are is quite a struggle the first time. Luckily her parents are there to give some helpful advice and if need be make sure she's safe until she manages to digest enough of her meal to swallow the last bits. The fact that it's pretty uncomfortable to have a set of feet in your gullet for hours will be of little consolation to the diver whose not-quite-watertight suit will eventually be regurgitated sans owner.

So, is this a family unit, or is that mer's tail a little too close to a mouth?
The mermaid (Cleo) was at first very cautious around Natiq, and understandably so. After she ended up bearing his daughter the child led them to spend more time together, and now she trusts him even though she knows he could snap her up and eat her effortlessly. Maybe there's genuine love there, or maybe it's just enlightened self interest - Natiq has developed a reputation for being trustworthy under certain circumstances. Such as when eating his lover means no more sea lion/dolphin/mermaid/whatever nookie.
When your life consists of hunting, sleeping, and looking for ladies to bone, a lover who is potentially available year round (as opposed to a leopard seal cow, who is probably only interested in sex for a month or so a year) becomes a pretty valuable commodity. You have to have some way to while away the time down there in the cold southern seas. 83
I have a diver's guide to deep diving the world and it says to NEVER dive around Leopard seals because they will attack you.
This one can go to any location though... Guess my ass ain't diving no more.

The encounter known as "Face to face with a predator" was one such dive and it’s what got me started drawing leopard seal preds.

Natiq stays in the deep southern seas but I am thinking of a Tame Camp-like story where my various aquatic preds get together with a bunch of interested people and have fun. 83

How true is that, though? What I've seen of leopard seals interacting with divers, they act more curious than aggressive, almost like killer whales. And of course that one thought of the diver as a fellow seal needing help, and tried her best to give an assist!
To my knowledge there is only one well documented leopard seal attack that resulted in a fatality, a female diver who was dragged underwater to her death. The Shackleton Expedition reported a leopard seal attack and there's record of one other attack but but the small number of reports combined with the fairly common occurence (these days) of researchers meeting leopard seals makes me thing they aren't predisposed to attack humans. There is not even one documented case of a sea leopard killing and eating a human.
Given what I know of ethology (and what little anyone really knows of leopard seals) my best guess is that they might be potentially dangerous when on territory - that IS a difference between lepoard seals and orcas. Apex predators will defend their territory... vigorously. But in modern times, we know a LOT more about animal signalling and psychology than we did back in Shackleton's time!
If I were to do a vore scenario with a leopard seal, it'd be an accidental one - the one dragged underwater to her death may also have been mistaken for a prey animal or a smaller seal. But those bloody things are pretty big... probably big enough to eat an unencumbered human if they put their minds to it.

They can top a thousand pounds and are nimble in the water and not that slow out of it. If they wanted to kill a human they could, they just haven't so far. Much as with orcas, who could absolutely kill and eat humans, but don't seem to as far as we can tell.
Naturally critters in a vore setting like mine are much more likely to take thinking prey, 'cos it's more interesting that way. The only animal I can think of that supposedly stalks humans as a habit is polar bears.

Glad to see Natiq and Cleo seem to be getting along well, hard to find someone willing to bang when people hear you ate someone you had a child with.
Natiq is notorious in his territory as someone who likes banging other-species females. This started with Salome the dolphin. He's also known for eating the male of a couple and then banging the female. This also started with Salome, who got him to eat some of her enemies (a;; male dolphins) and then shacked up with him. Other females have intentionally gotten him to eat their spouse, usually because they want to shack up with him or don't like the spouse. Or both. 83
Ah, wish I could get to become pals with him. I'd like to feel his squishy belly and soft body
