Hey guys, it's a brand new year, and a brand new start for the year as well. With all the excitement from December, and the different concept of a cigar review month, I decided to go back to a blend that was a regular go to for a nice taste. We're going back to Rocky Patel this month! Got some new blends to review, and I'm raving to go. Let's get into it!
Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Jalapa Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Pre-Light/Construction:
This particular little box pressed stick was a dark, but mysterious look for a rocky patel stick. The wrapper itself was well preserved looking along with a aged feel to the touch.
Slightly oiled for a nice little shine. The bands themselves were like a steel plated concept. Either like a military grade supply or a plaque you would receive from an award ceremony. Being the fact that the title itself is 15th Anniversary, it says alot for the achievements that Rocky, Nish, and Nimish have accomplished in the company. The veins and seems were very present, but made the overall construction much more intuitive in appearance. The scent was very sweet and spicy, I was looking forward to it.
The Burn Part 1:
Since I was going to see Bombshell with my dad, I decided to pop by the cigar shop on the way and smoke the beginning 3rd while driving. Traffic was still shit even after the lunch rush hour. The first few notes were a stiff and stern black pepper note. Quite a bit of something different for the start. Soon as I hit the halfway mark near the shop there was a nice and subtle chocolate note. A good sweet and spicy combo I absolutely love in a cigar. The draw was very exceptional. The burning was a bit uneven at times, but mainly the notes were vibrant. Soon before the 1st third gave out, there was one more note to make it's appearance. A shit load of leather.
The Burn Part 2:
I arrived at the shop to do a little shopping and relax. The notes in the 2nd 3rd were getting a little more bolder and stronger. Mainly from this point I was getting ready to head out to meet my pop. The notes became a little more rich and sweet with the chocolate notes. It was a bit more of a relaxed taste from the beginning. The leather mainly stayed in the same strength near the final puffs of the 2nd end. I packed up my crap and hit the road to the point where the 3rd was beginning. So far, mainly between medium and full body.
The Burn Final:
I headed down to the theater while driving to some Metallica. Some loud supped up car was roaring and being a show off. Douchebag. >:C The notes were becoming a little dwindled from the pepper to the leather. Mainly what was paving the way was the sweet notes. I gave it a bit of a purge till the last red light came before making a turn to the theater. When meeting up with my pop, the last few draws were mainly the chocolate notes to finish it off. With that I went to see Bombshell with my pop.
Verdict:
Mainly for something like this, I would it in the category of a desert cigar. Something you should save for a special occasion outback with your friends during a get together. Mainly a night time stick for those who love a good night on the town, or at your usual lounge.
