This was an illustration I did a few months back for Splash: Memories of Summer (a general furry summer zine) I havent drawn my boys as furries for a while so I thought this would be a nice opportunity to do it again xD
I tried to do something a bit different than usual summer themes, so I went with a Japanese Summer Festival theme. ^^ Keith (the doberman) isnt so familiar with Japanese food and culture as Sky (the goat) is, but hes trying haha.
Asian food festivals are something I have a lot of nostalgia for and I love visiting them when I can (even if they get super crowded lol). I've never been to a Japanese one yet sadly, but one day I will (•̀o•́)ง

This is so lovely to look at! I love the expressions (especially his on the left lmao) and the detail in the background scene
Thank you! Haha I couldnt help but put a natto joke in there xD
This is lovely, their outfits are fantastic and the background and ambiance <3333
Always happy to see these two

Aw thanks so much! ^^ I'm happy you're happy to see them again haha
This has great timing with the Chinese New Year coming soon (even if it’s uhhh...Japanese related art hahah xD) Those kimonos are gorgeous :3
Oh yeah! Aesthetically its pretty similar haha, even though CNY isnt really celebrated in Japan much. x'D
Thanks though! ^^
Thanks though! ^^
One day you will make it to a Japanese festival!
I love all the tiny details in this piece, the writing the people in the taiko drum stand and merchant stands (The steam from the grills are a nice touch), even the trees hidden in the background. This piece is beautiful <3
Keith made the ultimate misfortune, trying something that even a lot of natives cant stand.

ONE DAY! Sadly not this year since I'm planning to visit family in Southeast Asia xD BUT MAYBE NEXT TIME.
Yeah I wanted to fit as many summer festival things I could in one picture haha. Thank you so much!
Sky told him it would be good -_-

Keith's eating natto (fermented soybeans). Its an acquired taste so a lot of people tend not to like it haha. Sky's eating takoyaki (squid balls with sauce) which tastes a ton better xD
Aww, I think you're criticizing those soybeans too much... they're NATTO so bad once you get used to them! XD
This is so beautiful, you have a real mastery for lighting, mood and backgrounds!
Natto. Where you mix in raw egg to make it -less- slimy. x'D
Poor Keith. It's got to be rough on his more sensitive nose.
