This year was all about being a new parent (was it?). The first 3 months where extremely exhausting, where I was basically just surviving and taking care for my baby boy WITH LOVE of course. I chose for breastfeeding and really proud to say, I still breastfeed him till this day ♥ Admittedly I was not doing so well, dealing with allot of pain and specifically something new in my hands where I was losing my grip and strength. In that way it was really a challenge to take care for my little boy, even simple things like changing his diaper was difficult for me. So I went back to the hospital and to keep it short I got diagnosed with rheumatism. Not happy, but at least now I know it’s not in my head and I legitimacy have unexplainable pain so I will try to be more kind to myself and not overdo it too much. Luckily it’s bearable most of the time, just after my pregnancy it was reallllllly heavy. And I am seeing a physiotherapist weekly and I am finally getting back to my yoga yay!
9 months after my pregnancy (I guess it’s true; 9 months pregnancy means you need at least 9 months to recover from it) in July/August I finally got back to my sewing room. Before I got back to my commission work I wanted to get used to sewing again and make a little something for myself. I’ve been wanting to make this rainbow skirt for a really long time and I finally did it. I used all kind of leftover fabrics I got left from my splatoon and onesie commissions and was able to make my colourful skirt!
Earlier in 2019 my husband and I got engaged ^______^. I was hesitating to make my own dress since I don’t have experience making that kind of clothes and also because of the time limit and being a mom and all O_O. But my mom offered to help me out and I am really proud to say that yay I was actually able to design and sew my own wedding dress! I would like to share a proper post about this awesome project I could make, so for now yay for my very own wedding dress! Oh and a cape, because well yeah the cold :P (married during the fall season) To complete our outfits I made a matching vest/gilet (my husband was also wearing a brown gilet) for Ziri with the same fabrics I used for my outfit. We also had our rings custom made and finished it with a beautiful necklace and earrings with the tree of life symbol. We spent the day with just our son and our 2 witnesses and celebrated it in a very fairy tale way in the Efteling (is a fantasy-themed amusement park). Anywaysss more details (about the sewing project) in another post :P
Another milestone this year was that my little boy turned 1! So another project came to life. I made him a big birthday sling with some leftovers from my wedding dress with his name on it. Of course I had to make him a birthday cake and finished it off with a wooden 1 cake topper. Everything was in a fall/forest theme. I baked allot of other noms too, like delicious pumpkin cupcakes and pumpkin pie, also allot of yummy chocolate/coconut/nuts cookies. Not going to bother you with baking pictures, but yeah been doing it allot lately and enjoying it much ♥
This year was truly a great one! One thing tough, I haven’t gotten back to my work yet (not completely true, started making hats again in December) and I feel really bad about it. I am still getting allot of questions about them too, so I think it’s time! I will make a separate post about this :)
