Duality of Darkness
"Every heart has darkness within it, a power that holds great potential. Some resist, some succumb; In either case, the darkness fades not.
And yet... While most would use it for evil, drawing it out in themselves or others in the pursuit of power, I am left to wonder:
If a heart is pure enough, or clever enough, motivated by a desire to bring good and possessed of a stubborn kind of cunning, could it find a way to tap this darkness and turn it to a lighter purpose?"
- Draxxus as a KH OC probably, if he was feeling poetic.
An amazing piece of design work by the ever-creative Efsher !
So, here's two answers to the question nobody asked: If Draxxus was a Heartless, what would he look like? Thank you, magic of shapeshifting!
As a Pureblood, he becomes shadowy and ethereal, and all the more predatory in his posture. This form harnesses the pure power of instinct, stalking foes for long periods and wearing them down through ambush or hit-and-run tactics. When ready to make the final strike, it is powerful and decisive, bringing its hunt to a close with a stroke of its deadly claws.
The Emblem form, on the other hand, tempers the predatory instinct with a warrior's discipline. Tall and proud, armed and armored to deal with challenging foes head on, it becomes as much a guardian as a hunter, interfering with foes and drawing their blows away from weaker allies while it works to defeat them. A warrior encased in shining armor, even as a creature of darkness it acts as a paladin in its own way.
In either form, he remains a bit unique in that he isn't totally mindless. Driven largely by instinct, true, but still capable of rational thought and action, of making decisions based on far more complex factors than stealing hearts and generally being an agent of chaos.
Two questions remain, both of great importance. First, will harnessing the darkness draw him too far into it? It does grant power, but even with the best of intentions it can be a dangerous power to wield. He is driven to protect and do good, but when in a heartless form that extends as much to the small, relatively helpless shadows as it does to his unturned friends. Is that because he senses the possibility of their redemption, or is it a sign of slipping too far? And second...
Is he the only one to bear these forms, or are there more?
There's no question that these are amazing designs though! Both of them are absolutely beautiful monsters and I'm so very in love. <3
Efsher never ceases to amaze me, always showing such incredible skill at design and detail and just art and everything and I can't heap enough praise on my poor friend I know. XD
But tell me they don't deserve some! These two Heartless forms for my boi are top-notch! One of many ideas that went from a joke to a real consideration before becoming a reality. No regrets. Both of them look so powerful and dangerous, but each also has its own unique feeling to it that catches a different side of him! The Pureblood is predatory, instinctive, and outright monstrous; It's the side of him that would hunt you down and frick you up if it was ever let loose, whether through going feral or having enough with someone doing real harm to others. The Emblem, on the other hand, is much more other-oriented, vigilant, and protective; His instinct to help his friends and shield them from hurt, to always be there for them. The instincts to Attacc and Protecc personified.
Not to mention they're both gorgeous! Attacc's texturing and detail are incredible, from the danger mouth and rippling neck to the shadowy and flowing crest and tendrils! Protecc's armor is so beautiful, and everything about him is neat and tidy and handsome! And both of them have the sexiest claws~
I gotta say, I loved them to death when this was first finished, and now coming back and seeing them again, thinking about them in a different way... I'm even more in love than I was previously! Noticing all the things, thinking about what they mean... This is a perfect representation of Draxxus' two strongest instincts, and it's gone from awesome to downright poetic in that light. <3
Also, that poor Shadow seems so intimidated. Poor cute thing. XD
I'm gonna need some more official names for these two forms. Stalker and Paladin are both pretty cool, but a little generic. (And totally the dynamic Stalker and Summer have, so there's that. XD) So! Anyone interested inSCIENCE PARTICIPATION is welcome to leave suggestions! =3

This is a really amazing concept. I like it a lot. I am always about using a supposedly evil form to do good. <3
Thank you so much! I agree, it's a really amazing thing to see, and one of my favorite concepts. One of the reasons I really enjoy your work, as a matter of fact. ;3
Oh dear...! That means more to me than words can express. Thank you. =)
