This dog came from a German animated movie called “Millionaire dogs” made in 1999 by producer Michael Schoemann.
I saw the DVD on a flea market stand and out of curiosity I purchased it at a ver low price... which was good because the film was crap really. Plot very weak, poor animation and lot of weirdness with some creepy scenes and characthers.
In short it is the story of Chuffie a dog that after being abandoned on the street become friend with JD, a gruff but kind street dog; the two after some misfortune are adopted by the rich and kind Mrs Lily, and old millionare and become friends with the other pets adopted by Mrs Lily.
After the death of the old lady the pets become unexpectedly rich thanks to Mrs Lily’s will that leave her fortune to her beloved pets. The pets however let the money to get to their heads with the only exception of JD. Eventually the pets will be forced to fight against Mrs Lily’s REALLY creepy niece twins that are after Mrs Lily’s fortune and with the help of JD that remained true to his nature without succumbing to greed the pets will win and fulfill Mrs Lily wish of turning her mansion into a heaven for animals all around the world.
As I said the movie was crap but I loved JD design and I simply couldn’t resist the idea of drawing him in a scenario where he has allowed money to get to his head and considering how much he experienced hunger in the beginning if the movie it would seem only natural to see him turning into a fat lazy dog LOL
Besides it’s funny when you draw a canid characther with a big belly but scrawny legs.
It makes a comica cartoonish effect with a belly simply too big for his body type!

Oi! I've never seen a single character of himself before! Awesome!
Used to watched this when CN showcased more obscure animated movie. Like Twice Upon a Time.
Used to think I fell asleep while watching this and thought I dreamt half the stuff in it...

DIdn't help that how some of the animation designs/flow were VERY inconsistent throughout the run time... sometimes they were very fluid but then dialed down to be very stiff in other scenes.
I remember this movie, I even have my own copy of the movie
Wow.... was really that bad?
I am not sure if I watched it... is it one that the final scene is the two main dogs, after the house becomes a foster home for many animals they see a little stray cat and when the cat seems a bit scared and trying to get away is invited by those dogs to get into the house?

Yes there is that ending; and yeah I am personally inclined to think that the movie was bad written, the animation sloppy and there was lot of weird stuff with some creepy moment/characters too ... of course, that's my personal opinion
i loved Sherman in a kind of way; he was beefy and goofy too; a loveable combination :)
Speaking of German animated films, have you ever seen Felidae?
Yeah, I also read the books! Really cool and with an interesting animation... but definitely creepy!
