Card Sharks/Double Dare Theme (Finished)
The finished version of this previous work in progress; MuseScore doesn't like me, but I finally got it to cooperate when I chose to simplify the piece back to my usual style.
It is a fact I challenged myself to do a score on MuseScore with a large number of instruments, having previously done it with the Tiny Toon Adventures theme. I decided to go with a game show theme that was easier to teach myself by ear, the original theme for the CBS incarnation of Double Dare (no relation to the Nickelodeon show), and reused for the original era of Card Sharks on NBC; the latter is enjoying a summertime run on ABC. (The CBS and syndicated versions in the 80s used a different theme.) Coincidentally, the themes for all shows mentioned were written by the same man, Edd Kalehoff.
My challenge was to use a big band setting, but the program wasn't being rude to me by freezing up or by forcing me to put rests where I wanted notes, and not a rest. So I just simplified the score back to my usual way of doing things (which is what I should have done to begin with), and as a result, this is the lineup of instruments:
Piccolo
Flute
Baritone saxophone
2 trumpets
Trombone
French horn
2 glockenspiels
Acoustic bass
Drum set
Hand claps
Bongo drums
Piano

Original music by Edd Kalehoff
Double Dare (CBS) and Card Sharks © FremantleMedia North America and everybody else who owns the rights; both previously were each a Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Production.

I remembered how much work you put into this. For weeks and weeks! And now it's finally done!
You did it bandmaster.
You did it bandmaster.
I just I had been able to get MuseScore to behave itself; then it could have sounded more like the real thing.

But I'm thankful that it is finished.
