Deltarune Dancers - SnakeGalSkye
*THERE IS A STORY BELOW THE DESCRIPTION*
I absolutely love Undertale and Deltarune.
Undertale came at a moment where I was kinda down, asked myself some questions and felt a little depressed...and then came this beautiful, strange and unique narrative and I fell in love with it. The cast of characters, the quirkiness of the game and how memorable everything is spoke to me on multiple levels and it's game near-and-dear to my heart. Deltarune was the promise of more and I loved it too, for the same reasons but also for some new one too as I grew to adore its cast as well. It shows a lot of promise and I can't wait for chapter 2.
So of course, when I love something I combine it with others, like for instance baladi and the Orientalist/harem aesthetic. Given that the party members of Deltarune were a lot more memorable than Frisk in Undertale, and that their design and palette are really good, I decided I wanted to see those three dressed up as belly dancers. I went with someone really good with such designs, with a love for those games as well in SnakeGalSkye snakegalskye who obviously had a lot of fun doing this, respecting the palette while still going for what made the characters so fun. Kris being fabulous yet neutral in his expression, the anger of Suzie who still put this on and the adorable pose and embarrassed expression of Ralsei are all very in-character and this is a sublime piece.
And of course, I wrote a little story, one that I was inspired to put up as a "bonus scene" which I think might fit in Deltarune itself. Enjoy. ;)

THE DANCER DISTRACTION
“There...really is an awful lot of them...”
There were indeed a pretty humongous amount of guards in this specific room, too many for them to deal with as Ralsei felt rather uneasy about going up upfront and fight them. They were a rather formidable trio, that was true, but even then this might prove to be too much for even them.
“So? We just beat everyone and move on,” Suzie replied, completely unfazed by what she saw by peeking a look through the doorway. “Sorry...we pacify them all and just move on, I suppose. Why is that different?”
“Because they're close to one hundred and we're just us three. You're strong, Suzie...Really strong...But I think this might be too much if we want to keep out strength up for our real target further in the castle,” Ralsei explained, looking back at the door before he moved away from it in case they'd be spotted. “Do you have any idea on how to deal with it, Kris?”
Silent as almost ever, a mere shrug from him meant that Ralsei would need to take care of it as he got deep in thought, trying to find a way without fighting just like they did before. He did want for everyone to get along, but that could prove difficult at times. Looking through his stuff, a bag which he hid on himself, Suzie checked up on him as she swung her axe in practice.
“Look, Ralsei, I say we make a run for it and take a few out to intimidate them. That'll show them not to mess with us,” Suzie suggested, herself trying to be cooperative with that whole “peaceful approach” thing, but there were times when a good strike did more good than anything if her past experience was any indicative. “You just let me at 'em and we'll be done in 2 minutes. Three tops.”
Ralsei wasn't answering, though, going through his stuff until an expression of surprise came upon him as he took a few pieces of clothing out from his apparently bottomless bag. “I got it! We'll make us look completely harmless and enticing by wearing these!” Ralsei said enthusiastically, handing out vestment composed of silk, jewelry, metal and some light frill here and there.
“You had all of this stashed in your bag...why?” Suzie asked, a little incredulous about what she saw yet as she inspected the clothes she had a look of shock and then quiet anger accompany her reaction. “No. I'm not wearing this. No way. Nu-uh. In fact, why do you even have this?”
“Well, I did wait for you two to arrive for a very long time. I had to occupy myself...So learned some things here and there...” Ralsei answered, a little embarrassed as he went through the bag himself to take out more things. “I got myself to sew, to dance, to cook and do all sorts of things!”
“This is like a belly dancer getup or something...and it's super revealing!” Suzie said, going for an outburst yet trying to control the volume of her voice and her temper as Ralsei placed a finger on his mouth to incite her to tone it down politely. “Are you some kind of pervert or something?”
“Awwww Suzie...There's no shame in wearing things like that. You should revel in your body and your natural beauty. Everyone can be beautiful and I'm sure you'd be able to wear this just fine,” Ralsei said, not exactly reading the situation right despite his optimistic and empathic skills and perception. “Besides, baladi is not something inherently sexual and being sexy is nothing to be shy about. There are tons of ways to express ourselves, after all.”
He was so gentle and earnest that Suzie did not know whether she wanted to apologize for her direct accusation or to punch him right here and then. She sighed and turned to Kris, hoping for some support here, to get a better plan that this one. “Yo, help me out here Kris. You don't seriously-”
But Kris most obviously thought this was a good course of action as he was already wearing an ensemble of his own confection that he hand-picked himself. A shiny top with a metallic sheen above a black lycra top, adorned with coins. Sleeves attached to bracers around his upper arms, a long skirt, a tight sash and some light shoes replaced his armor and normal outfit from back when they woke up in this strange place. Pastel colors like teal, lavender and indigo could be seen on him as he struck a light pose, lightly glimmering because of the coin and how his neutral expression could not distract from the fact that he did in fact look rather splendid in that ensemble, his belly and one of his shoulder being bare there.
“Oooooh...You look amazing, Kris. I'm so glad it suits you so well!” Ralsei said, ever encouraging and nice as it made Suzie sigh upon such a sight. Ralsei handed some more stuff to Suzie who looked at Kris still, part because of disbelief but also because it did, in fact, make him look quite pretty in a certain way. “Alright, your turn Suzie. I think these would suit you well!”
She figured that with Kris voting for Ralsei's plan in silence she did not have much choice. She rolled her eyes and decided to get this over with as she asked for them to turn around so that she could remove her clothes and get this outfit on. Long fishnet sleeves covering her entire arms, a black top attached to a leather belt, a tight underwear upon which two silk trails could be seen hanging from her hips, a belly chain made of simulated spikes, a skull choker and some dancing shoes were put in place on her body, worn in a way that she felt would be less embarrassing. It did show a good amount of her skin, though, making her feel self-conscious as her legs, her stomach, her shoulder and part of her chest were on display. It did show off her muscles, which was one way to look at it that seemed a little less problematic to her to consider it. Purple, black and gold, colors which suited her really well, suspiciously so in fact, were those of her vestment as she turned around. “Ralsei, are you sure you didn't plan for this to-”
She was cut short by the fact that Ralsei had changed as well and it was an absolute surprise, one which she was certainly not prepared for as his hat and his robes had been discarded in favor of a tight little blue top, a pink belt with silk trails acting as loincloth upfront and back, cuffs around his wrists, bracelets, curved slippers and a little veil on top of his face. His shoulders, belly, legs, most of his arms and torso were all uncovered, hidden beneath black fur which couldn't really make invisible his rather intriguing and enticing curves as he shyly looked at both Kris and Suzie, managing to look cute, sexy and adorable all at once. “H-how do I look?” Ralsei asked, only adding to the absolute shyness that he felt and that was propagating to Suzie as well who was left speechless. “It suited me better back then...when I ate less cake...I-I think at least? Does it look good...convincing at least?”
Kris gave him a thumb up as then Suzie struggled to come up with an answer that would be satisfactory to both him and her as she looked away, removing her gaze from the alluring sight of Ralsei and Kris for a little moment. “You both look fine,” she said, trying to stay neutral and cold despite the fact that she did wish she had her phone with her so she could take a picture...For a good laughter she rationalized, not exactly managing to fool herself with this reasoning. “Let's just get this over with.”
“Okay...So I think we should announce our presence, say we're here for the king and do a little number...They won't question our credibility if we manage to dance, yes?” Ralsei explained, asking for support and suggestions as Suzie began to picture those two shaking their hips and all that, which made her blush a little until she snapped out of it, feeling uncomfortable for reasons that she didn't want to deal with for now. “Suzie?”
“Yeah, sure. Whatever,” she said, feigning nonchalance as she got to the door along with the other two. Her heart was racing, this situation being extremely unusual as she didn't know how to look pretty or sexy or harmless. She knew how to punch, to threaten, to intimidate, those were skills she understood. But still she did promise that she'd try to go with the flow and this was it, for better or worse.
“Alright then, here we go!” Ralsei said, himself seemingly eager for this to start, blushing slightly beneath his veil as Kris seemed as impassible as ever. Both seemed to take this much better than Suzie as the door was flung open, Kris opting to go for a grand entrance as it was Ralsei who spoke up. “Let us go through...We're dancers here to entertain the king~”
What came next Suzie could never have been prepared for as Ralsei obviously knew how to shake it as he took one step forward, winked to his audience and then bumped one hip in the air before going to the tip of his toes, twisting his hips in a slow circle while he advanced forward. This obviously took a lot of skill and balance as he lifted one arm above his head and moved one to the side, creating a rather graceful figure to go with those sexy little moves. Kris tried to follow suit, trying an attempt to swish his hips and to shimmy his shoulders. It looked wooden, slightly ridiculous due to his unmoving expression, yet he was decidedly trying as the guards were taken aback by this, moving out of the way and observing those would-be dancers performing before their eyes. As the other two made their entrance, their level of skills disparate yet their intent clear, all eyes then turned to Suzie, the sole woman of the group and the only one who hadn't done anything yet despite taking a few steps.
“Uhhhh...Is she a dancer too?”
“I heard there was a purple dinosaur beating folks outside...Is this her?
“No way, she's a dancer, not a fighter...right?”
She couldn't manage this attention, the spotlight as she almost wished she would combust on the spot, disappear forever. She wasn't accustomed to be seen as something else than terrifying, something which she could manage easily, that she could handle and fuel herself. Beautiful, graceful though? That was unlike her...But what also was unlike her was to just lay down and die, to surrender. She'd go for it. She'd be the best dancer they had ever seen...or maybe second best because Ralsei was actually really good. So she took a step forward, placed her hands on her hips and then decided to try something by bumping her hips to the side. It was crude, unremarkable, yet thankfully the outfit more than sold the illusion to the guards.
“Oh yeah, she's a dancer alright.”
“I mean, no one in their right mind would fight in this.”
“Dang, the king is lucky to get their totally unsollicited and unscheduled visit!”
Ralsei followed suit, twirling and then jumping forward with a little arabesque as he then shimmied his hips, taking his sweet time as while he was shy and not entirely comfortable himself, he was also pretty into it despite it all. He had been practicing for so long through books and experiments himself, so to have an audience who enjoyed his performance was very fulfilling. He rolled his stomach, flutters then following suit as he spun with hip circles, his arms and hands ever helping wandering eyes to focus on him. He was hiding in plain sight and thoroughly enjoying it.
Kris said nothing, his face ever a mystery as to whether he was shy, afraid or enjoying himself. He merely twirled, tried to bump his hips a little as he let the sound of coins accompany him. He moved behind Ralsei, his motions telling the story that he liked this...or that he acted as if that was the case. He was hard to read, yet it seemed to be a better facade than the cute little blush which could easily be seen beneath Ralsei's veil. He looked fabulous and confident, though, which sold the illusion aplenty.
Suzie, meanwhile, had an uneasy smile which showed her sharp teeth, making for a bizarre impression as while she was the most physically imposing she was also the least credible in a way. She bumped her hips and tried to do it fast, taking slow steps to make it easier for her, yet Ralsei and Kris were already far in front of her. She tried to speed up the pace, going for little waves of her arms and shoulder bumps, trying to think of moves that belly dancers did in what little movies or shows she actually saw their performance. She tried to twirl as well, following the other two in their cue as eventually they passed through to the other side as Ralsei turned around and gave everyone a little smile and a wink.
“Thank you. You've been a wonderful audience and-” he began to say, his emotions of accomplishment and satisfaction being utterly genuine yet it was Suzie who closed the door before he got to finish. “Are you...Are you okay, Suzie?”
“Let's never do something like that...or speak of it...ever again, okay?” she said, glaring at the other two as her heart was still racing for a multitude of reasons, embarrassment being only one of them. “Now let's get out of these outfits and-”
Kris was already back in his own outfit, changing at the speed of light in silence as both Ralsei and Suzie looked at him in disbelief. Ralsei chuckled awkwardly, looking down at the ground as he spoke softly. “I'm sorry Suzie...I made you feel uncomfortable and I kinda put the emphasis on you...I should have come up with a better plan,” he said, his tone apologetic as he looked utterly shy...and excessively cute with such an expression and outfit combined together.
“Uh...Well...you know...It worked! And you were good...Uh I mean we were good enough to fool them...Yeah...” Suzie said, a slip of the tongue making her say more than she meant as Ralsei looked at her with a big smile on his stupid, adorable little face.
“Awwwww...that's so nice of you to say! I practiced really hard to perform like this, you know?” Ralsei told her, beginning to remove the veil and to put back his wizard hat and robe on. “I'm glad you thought I was good too...Because I think Kris stole the show back there...Oh! If you want to keep the outfit, you can! I'd be happy to give it to you.”
“No,” was all that Suzie would say to the matter as she put her outfit back on and picked up her axe from the seemingly bottomless bag which contained their entire inventory. “I'll give it back to you once we're done with all of this, when we have less pressing matters.”
But she never did, keeping it in secret, something which she hoped Kris and Ralsei would never, ever find out about. It was a remembrance of a moment when she had bizarrely looked pretty for a little while, when two hot boys had strutted their stuff before her eyes. She would still never talk about this for a long, long time for reasons of her own...
But part of her would certainly cherish this strange little moment for quite a while.
