I don't remember very well, because I was only 4 years old but my first gift I received was a Tonka Truck and according to my mom, that was an unforgettable day for me!
According to some photos of my childhood that I had, I kept jumping and saying to everyone at home "That's my truck"!
What I did do was keep it for many years ... but when playing with it so much, it broke as it was not very resistant plastic!
It hurt my heart to see it so broken ... and although I got another one for a few years later, it would never be the same as the original!
This drawing is based on that photo from my childhood when I saw my first truck next to me!
And every time I see this photo... it makes me nostalgic and reminds me of the good times that were those years that will never return but that I will keep it forever in my heart!
*hugs*

Hasta ahora uno de los juguetes que conservo de mi infancia es un Max Steel pequeño, lo tengo aún, me imagino qué costoso será ahora por lo que era un juguete de una Cajita Feliz de McDonald's. Jajaja!

Awww, very cute my dear friend! I had a similar truck when I was little, but it was made of metal.
Really my dear friend? That's super great!!!!!!!Cool! Thanks from my heart always my dear friend!!!*hugs*
Aww!That's very cute from you!Thank you my friend!!!
Tonka trucks are supposed to be very sturdy and last for a long time, but not even Tonka trucks will last all the time. Still this is a very adorable picture Fred, I'm glad that it was inspired by your own childhood memories.
The truck they brought me was made of quite hard plastic, there were two versions, the metal one and as I said before, plastic!I think they brought me the one that cost less, heee, heee!
Thanks from the deep of my heart my dear friend David!!!!*hugs*

Ah OK it was made from plastic before you got the metal one? I guess this was before they started to reinforce the plastic ones to make them stronger and used metal instead in the olden days.
You're very welcome as always Fred.

I think I recall playing with a Tonka grader in my childhood at our old place.
That's great too!I think that each one of us men has had a truck like this ... even if it had not been a Tonka brand!
Thanks a lot my friend!!!
Thanks a lot my friend!!!
Daww! This is wonderfully cute! I have a lot of good memories of my toys. =D
Thanks from my heart my friend!!!!And those memories are forever in your heart too!!!*hugs*
The Tonka trucks I played with were made of metal, and rusted from all the times playing outside, and being left out overnight.
Oh my!!!!!!The enemy of metal ... moisture and easily leads to corrosion!I think was a sad day for you my friend!!!*hugs*
Ah, nostalgia... This is a very nice pic, Freddy. And it so reminds me of my own childhood memories. Me and my older brother had our own Tonka trucks when we were kids. They lasted for years, until our mom donated them along with some other toys to Goodwill. The trucks may be gone but they helped make memories that last forever.
They are forever in your heart my friend!!Thanks from my heart for sharing your story too!!!*hugs*
Gracias amigo!!!Jaaa, jaaaa!
Too bad we all have to grow up sometimes. But that is an adorable artwork and memories.😊💖
That's right my friend, part of this life ... and childhood goes by very fast ... but the memories are in the heart forever!

Ahh Tonka, had a few of them as a child, back when they were pressed mild steel and Tonka* was a stand-alone Minnesota company. The corporate entity still is based out of Mound Minnesota, but they are part of Hasbro today.
*The original logo had waves, a nod as I recall to Lake Minnetonka.

Those were the best toys and I still remember the TV commercials with them:

*hugs*

A shame about that toy. I thought Tonka Trucks were resilient too.
Yes it is...but a few years later they brought me a metal one ... but by mistake I left it outside and the humidity made its own!Oh my!!!
Awww, that's so adorable, Fred! I remember having something similar to that too. *puppy hugs*
Thanks you my friend!!!Awww!Wonderful!!!*bear hugs*
Thanks a lot amigo!
Speaking of guns ... during my childhood I used to have a (toy) laser beam rifle too, and how much fun I had, it was like I was in outer space!

I don't know why, but the image and the description reminds me of how lucky I was as a child to have so many toys. I don't even remember getting my first toy, because I must have been an infant when I was given my first teddy bear. It always breaks my heart when I hear of children who are less fortunate in other countries that may have only one or two "proper" toys to play with by the time they're 4 or 5. :( I hope I do not sound too materialistic, I just think it's nice for a kid to have toys, something that THEY own and can control what they do with in an environment that can be out of their control.
Okay, ramble over. :P This is a really cute drawing. <3

Really sweet pic Fred.
I don't really remember my first toy as I played alot with my older brother's too.. But the first I do still remember was teddy bear I got from my grandmother when I was in the hospital for couple months as a little kid, which I still have to this day and been with me for 28 years.
