Original story written for me by robertdayson, with the ending rewritten by yours truly.
Applying her makeup in the mirror, Cynthia looked at her reflection with a nervous smile. “Okay…” she said to herself, looking in the mirror. “You can do this. It’s no big deal, really.” To be honest, though, she was terrified. She always tended to get nervous talking to other people, and today she was planning on doing even more than just talking: she was planning on asking someone out. Someone that she had been watching for a long time. She had talked to him before, of course… and he seemed like a pretty nice guy. It didn’t hurt that he was also super good-looking, with a perfect jaw line, perfect slick brown hair, perfect dreamy brown eyes… he pretty much had it all. Well, it hurt her self-confidence, which was already pretty fragile… but hopefully that wouldn’t matter once she got over this hurdle.
Sighing, she grabbed her makeup bag, walking out of her dorm building and out onto her college campus. Lately, she had been wearing makeup quite a bit, in hopes of using it to hide her lack of confidence from other people. She had heard the stereotype, of course, involving makeup mostly being used by popular, extroverted girls who wanted to stand out more. But for Cynthia, it had the opposite effect: it allowed her to blend in, to hide her true feelings. She could become just another pretty girl, pretending to be unfazed by things like talking to people. And that was exactly what she needed today. To pretend to be confident, even though she wasn’t.
As she walked into the building where her first class was held, she immediately noticed the boy she was after, standing just outside the classroom. It made sense, considering they were taking the class together. In fact, that was when they first met. But now wasn’t the time to think about that. She checked her watch, seeing that there were only a few minutes left until class began. Which meant there was no way she could put it off. It was now or never. “Um… Daniel?” She said, walking over to him. “Can… can I talk with you for a second?”
Daniel turned around, almost bumping into her. “Whoa… sorry, Cynthia,” he said, grinning. “So… what’s up?”
“Um…” Cynthia gulped. “Well… I was wondering… if you were doing anything tonight.”
An unsettled look crossed Daniel’s face. “Um… I don’t think so,” he said. “Why… why do you ask?”
“Um…” So far, this wasn’t exactly going great. But Cynthia refused to back down. “Well… if you’re not doing anything… I was thinking that… maybe the two of us could do something together? It doesn’t have to be much… I mean, we could just get dinner, walk around campus… that would be good, right?”
“I… don’t know if that would be such a great idea,” said Daniel, looking even more unsettled. “I mean… I still don’t know you all that well, and…”
“Well… that’s kind of the point. This is so that we can get to know each other more.” Cynthia sighed. “Look, I’ll tell you what. We can spend tonight together, okay? Then, if you still don’t know about me, we won’t do it again. Okay?”
Daniel lowered his head. “...Fine. But just for tonight, okay?” With that, he turned around and walked into the classroom, with Cynthia following right behind him.
But as Cynthia sat in the class, listening to the teacher’s lecture, she started feeling a bit… upset. She had hoped that once he said yes, she would be happy with just his answer. But she wasn’t. Why had he been so reluctant to say yes to her? Did he really not want to go out with her after all? Had she just pressured him into doing something he really didn’t want to do? She had a sinking feeling that this date wasn’t going to be the fun, enjoyable evening she had always imagined it as.
When the class was dismissed, Cynthia left the room slowly, her head hung in shame. What was she supposed to do now? At this point, she was seriously considering not even bothering with the date. After all, if Daniel didn’t enjoy it, she probably wasn’t going to enjoy it either. So why should she-
“Hey, there. You seem upset.”
“Wha… who’s there?” Cynthia quickly spun around, only to find herself face to face with a short pale girl, with long black hair and large square glasses. “Um… hi. Who are you?”
The girl smiled. “I’m Kayla Morrison,” she replied. “I watched you try to ask that guy out earlier, you know. And I really have to say, if you’re trying to impress him, you’re doing it all wrong.”
“Oh… I am?” Suddenly, Cynthia’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait… you’re THE Kayla Morrison? The witch?” Of course Cynthia had heard of this girl. Everyone at her college had. Apparently, her family was descended from a group of powerful warlocks from the 17th century, or something like that. Her family had continued to study magic throughout the years, and now Kayla was learning the basics as well. Her powers were still limited, but she had still been able to demonstrate her magic to her classmates a few times during the year, like when she made it snow in early September. After that, pretty much everyone know who she was.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s me,” Kayla said with a wave of her hand. “But I’m not here to talk about me. Listen. They way you’re trying to win Daniel’s heart is all wrong. You’re never going to get him to like you by just putting on makeup and acting like you’re someone you’re not.”
“Oh… okay, then,” said Cynthia. “So… what should I be doing instead?”
“Well, first of all, you need to recognize the kinds of things that he’s into,” replied Kayla. “And makeup and beauty just aren’t among those things. You need to tap into your more… natural side.” She sighed, reaching into her bag. “Here, use this to help you. It should help you the next time you meet him.”
Cynthia held out her hand expectantly, but was surprised when Kayla dropped a tube of lipstick into it. “Lipstick? But you just said…”
“That’s not an ordinary tube of lipstick, though,” replied Kayla. “I enchanted it myself. Using it will make you much more… attractive to Daniel. Don’t worry, you’ll see what I mean as soon as you use it.” She glanced down at her watch. “Oh, will you look at that! Looks like I’m late for my next class! See you later!” With that, she ran past Cynthia and exited the building. After a brief moment of hesitation, Cynthia walked out after her.”
For Cynthia, the rest of the day was relatively uninteresting. Her classes came and went, but she could barely pay attention to them. She was too busy thinking about what had just happened between her and Kayla to really focus on anything else. Make her more attractive to Daniel… what did that even mean? As she left her final class, though, she decided that there was only one way to find out: she would just have to apply it and see what happened.
As she walked into her dorm room, she noticed her two roommates, Nina and Julia, sitting on the ends of their beds reading books. The moment they saw her, though, they immediately jumped up, grinning. “Well?” asked Nina. “How did it go? Did he say yes?”
Cynthia nodded. “Yeah, he did. Although… he did seem kind of hesitant. But it’s okay! I’ve got something that I think might help.” She pulled the lipstick Kayla had given her out of her bag. “This lipstick is apparently supposed to make me more attractive to him. I havn’t used it yet, so I don’t know if it’ll work… but I’m just about to try it out.”
“That’s great!” cried Julia. “Though, to be honest, I don’t know how you could possibly be any more attractive to him… or any man, for that matter.”
Cynthia laughed. “Well, I guess we’ll find out, won’t we?” she said. She turned and walked out into the bathroom, taking out the lipstick as soon as she got in front of the mirror. Carefully, she began spreading it across her lips, making sure she got it everywhere she needed it. Once she was sure she was done, she stepped back to see what would happen. Only… nothing happened. Her face didn’t change, her body didn’t change… she just stayed exactly the same. She frowned. Maybe it just took a while to get started? Yeah, that had to be it.
Sighing, she walked away from the mirror, still holding the lipstick. However, as she walked back to her room, she failed to realize the true effect that the lipstick was having on her. Her lips suddenly turned from red to a light orange, before starting to push out from her mouth. They continued growing longer and wider, until they seemed to cover the entire bottom part of her face! Even her nose began merging into them, disappearing as two nostril holes took its place on top of her new bill.
Cynthia, completely unaware of any of this, walked into her room just as the changes were finishing. “Hey, guys!” she said, easily talking through her duck-like bill.
Nina turned around. “Gah!” she cried, upon noticing Cynthia’s new growth. Julia quickly turned around, gasping at what she saw as well. “...Cynthia?” said Nina, still in shock. “Are… are you…”
“Oh… is it working already?” Cynthia grinned, though it didn’t exactly come through with her new bill. As she did, though, even more changes began taking place. White feathers began sprouting all across her face, which became more and more narrow with each new feather. Even her eyes seemed to be changing position, though they retained their blue color. Her hair also seemed to be changing, shrinking back into her skull and disappearing as more feathers grew to replace it. “How do I look?” she asked, still completely oblivious to the changes. “Do you think he’ll like it?”
“Um…” Julia was almost too shocked to speak. “Where… where did you get that lipstick?”
“Oh… you know that girl, Kayla? The witch? She gave it to me. Said it was enchanted to make me more attractive to him.” The feathers spread down her neck, which also seemed to be undergoing a bit of a growth spurt. Longer and taller it grew, becoming more flexible and raising her height by a couple of inches. “Do you think it’ll work? Do I look more attractive?”
“Um…” Nina watched the feathers spread across her torso and down her arms. “I… I guess that depended on your definition of the word…”
“Yeah, that’s right,” said Julia, watching her hands change. Her fingers became thinner and wider, almost like a bird’s wings, though her hands still functioned as the normally would. “I mean, if he’s into that kind of thing… then I guess that would make you more attractive.
“What do you mean, ‘that sort of thing?’” Just then, unbeknownst to Cynthia, her tailbone began to extend, forming a large bulge on her backside as it started to press and strain against the seat of her pants. Soon enough, the seams ripped way as the bulge was revealed to be a small, feathery tail which pushed its way out of the newly formed hole it had torn in the back of her pants. To make things even more interesting, her hips and back cracked as they contorted and enlarged into a plump, swaybacked waterfowl-like posture; her new tail feathers wagging behind her.
“Um… never mind. Yeah, I’m sure he’ll find that attractive.” Julia smiled. “You do look kinda sexy, actually.”
“Oh… well, that’s really good!” Now Cynthia’s legs were starting to change, becoming thinner and turning a light orange beneath her pant legs. Noticing that her feet were feeling a bit uncomfortable in her shoes, she stepped out of them, giving them plenty of breathing room. Which was good, because they were already starting to grow, becoming wider and longer as the orange color spread to them. Her toes merged, leaving her with three on each foot, as webbing began growing between them.
“Yeah, you look great!” Said Julia. She turned to her other roommate. “Say something, Nina!”
“Um…” Nina snapped out of her shock. “I mean, yeah! You look so good!”
“Great! Well, I should probably be going, then. I’m supposed to meet with Daniel…” She looked over at the clock, gasping. “Oh! Right about now, it looks like! Alright, see you later, then!” With that, she walked back out into the hallway, her webbed feet slapping against the floor as her new avian hips swayed with confidence.
Once she was gone, Nina turned back to Julia. “You didn’t want to tell her?” She asked.
“Tell her what? About the duck thing? I’m pretty sure she already knew,” replied Julia. “I mean, If her boyfriend is into that kind of thing… well, we shouldn’t judge, should we?” She sighed, before picking up her book and going back to reading. After a moment of hesitation, Nina did the same.
Meanwhile, Cynthia was ignoring the strange looks from her peers as she walked to the door, still completely ignorant of what had happened to her. Instead, she just walked right up to the entrance to her dorm building, opening it to see Daniel standing there. “Hey there, Dan!” she said, her newfound confidence showing. “How are you doing?”
For a moment, Daniel just stared, his mouth hanging open in shock. “Um… Cynthia?” He said, finally finding his voice. “Is… is that you?”
Cynthia frowned. “You don’t even recognize me?” She asked. “Wow… I guess it really did work, then.” Noticing Daniel’s confused face, she continued. “You know Kayla Morrison? That girl who’s been practicing witchcraft? Well, she gave me this lipstick, saying that it would make me more attractive to you.” She looked at him expectantly. “So… did it work?”
Daniel continued staring, just for a second. Then, he suddenly broke into a grin. “Definitely!” He said. “You look great!” Cynthia smiled, and Daniel continued examining her. “Honestly, I never even took you as the kind of girl who’d be into that sort of thing. I mean, the bill, the webbed feet, the feathers…”
Cynthia’s smile instantly fell. “Wait… what are you talking about? What do you mean by…” As she said it, she looked down at herself, and the words instantly died in her throat. “Wha…” She lifted one of her webbed feet. “I…” She looked at her white feathery arms. “But…” She craned her longer, more flexible neck around to look at her tail and larger behind. “WHAT?”
Daniel just stood there, looking confused. “Are… are you serious?” he asked. “Did you seriously not realize this until…”
“Shut up!” cried Cynthia. “Oh my god…” She reached up to her face, running her hand across her bill. “Oh my god…” she said again, wondering how she was even able to talk though that thing.
“Hey… are you okay?” asked Daniel. “Do… do you need a moment?”
“I… I’m sorry…” Cynthia dropped to her knees. “I mean… look at me! I look like Daisy Duck‘s stunt double!”
“Hey, hey,” Daniel walked over, kneeling down next to her. “It’s okay, you didn’t know… “ He put a hand on her shoulder. “And it’s not like it’s permanent, you’ll be back to normal in a few hours or so.”
Cynthia quickly jerked her head up, raising an eyebrow.” Wait… How do YOU know how long this…THING will last?”
“Well, uh…” Daniel chuckled nervously. “You see, I have a potion back at my dorm that Kayla gave me a few months back. I drank it one night and…it turned me into an anthro fox for a few hours. It was scary at first, but honestly… I really, REALLY liked it. Since then, I take it every Saturday night when no one‘s around.”
Cynthia could hardly believe what she was hearing. “Wait… are you say that you’re…”
“Into animal people? Yup. I’m a Furry, all right. Guilty as charged.” Daniel chuckled before looking at Cynthia with a kind and caring look in his eyes. “Anyway, even though you didn’t really want this to happen… I’m still pretty glad it did. Really, though, I’ve never liked obsessed with makeup a lot of girls seem to be. I mean, I’m sure a lot a guys like that kind of thing… but I’m not really into that. I don’t want some plastic Barbie doll for a girlfriend.” He grinned. “I want you. It doesn’t matter to me whether you’re human or animal person.” Daniel’s face turned red. “Though, if I have to be honest, I… actually do find you pretty sexy like this.”
“Oh! Um…” Cynthia looked down at herself, giggling a little as her cheeks turned red. “Thank you. Thank you, very much.”
Daniel stood up, looking down at her. “Anyway, I believe we were supposed to go on a date, right? That is, if you still want to go.”
“Um…“ Cynthia looked back up at Daniel. “I’m not really sure that going out like this would be such a good idea. I mean… I get the feeling that people would probably stare at me…”
“Well… if you want, we can just skip dinner and walk around campus for a bit,” said Daniel. “Maybe we could go down to the pond for a little bit. That’s actually one of my favorite places here, you know. It’s quiet, peaceful, relaxing…”
“Hmm… Sounds good to me,” Cynthia said, smiling. Maybe it was just a side effect of the change, but going down to the pond sounded super appealing to her. “Maybe I could even go for a little swim.”
“Yeah, your new feet would probably be pretty good for that.” Daniel grinned. “Now come on, let’s go while it’s still light out.”
“Sounds good,” said Cynthia.
“And maybe afterwards, we could go back to my dorm room,” said Daniel. “Just you and me.” He smirked. “Maybe I could even take my own potion?”
Cynthia‘s eyes widened and she blushed deeply, the red in her cheeks becoming strong enough to show through her feathers. Was Dan really implying what she thought he was? If so… Why not? If HE likes it, maybe she could too. “That sounds good to me,” Cynthia said, looking back at Dan, smiling and fluttering her eyelashes. She then grabbed Daniel’s hand as he helped her back up onto her feet. Just then, she felt a sharp pain in her backside. “Ow!“
“What is it?”
Cynthia groaned. “It’s these pants! They’re too tight now that I have a huge duck butt and it kinda hurts.”
Daniel shrugged. “Well, why not just take them off?”
Cynthia‘s eyes widened. “What?!”
“Well, you are covered in feathers, so it’s not like people will see anything anyway.”
Cynthia couldn’t argue with that logic. And if cartoon ducks like Daffy, Donald, and Daisy could get away with it, who says she couldn’t either? Reaching down, she unbuttoned and unzipped her pants with her feathered fingers, and grabbing both sides around her waist, pushed them completely off her body, along with her underwear, as they fell down around her feet and leaving her wearing nothing but her shirt, fully able to show off her new avian behind. Lucky for her, Daniel‘s assumption was right, as her feathers were enough to cover anything naughty.
“Huh,” said Cynthia. “That actually feels pretty good.” She placed her hands on her enlarged avian hips, caressing every single feather that now covered it. “Wow, and so soft, too!” She then looked at Daniel. “So… what do you think?”
Dan grinned. “Babe, you put Daisy Duck to shame.”
“Aww,“ Cynthia’s tail feathers wagged behind her with joy. “Thank you.”
“Now then,” said Dan as he extended his hand. “Shall we?”
“We shall,” said Cynthia. With that, she took Daniel’s hand, and the two of them walked off together towards the pond.
Applying her makeup in the mirror, Cynthia looked at her reflection with a nervous smile. “Okay…” she said to herself, looking in the mirror. “You can do this.

I like the extended ending in this and while I'm a bit hesitant about him transforming himself, I completely understand how much of this makes sense to his actions and with him being a furry. I think I can also relate to the guy now about not really interested in girls whom I don't know share the same hobbies as mine, but I will try to give them a shot.
