[c] Big scifi birb
"Holos-scans tells me there is still a dozen of small signatures and two big ones present. Confirming one of them is a heavily augmented cyborg. I have fried most systems in the street but they're trying to break through it! I won't be able to do more."
Everything that could have gone wrong today has gone wrong for Seykkee. What would have been a regular investigation on a weapon hideout deep into the depths of the cayons-hive city turned into a bloodbath between two gangs trading military grade kinetic accelerators for potent hallucinogens and hyper dissociatives drugs between them. Back alley trade were rare for the bigger fishes to participate directly on the market, the dealers present weren't the ones pulling the strings but they still held delicate informations.
Seykkee got hurt into the cross-fire when she had jumped out of cover to save her new partner, Steve. Thankfully the shooter was high enough on something to only graze her arm. She was already tensed when Steve went scouting ahead and snuck into the vents of the warehouse, she hated staying behind and not being useful to anything. Now the pain only got her more pissed off.
Most of the goons were already lying dead cold, the survivors had fled into the labyrinth that is the deep part of the under-hive's sewers with a big angry raptor on their heels. Hooked up on the civilians security feeds, Steve followed his giant partner on the camera's screen, giving her easier way of progressing while impeding that of the dealers and to finally got them stuck in a temporary dead end. Seykkee was thankful for what he was doing. Some kinetic launchers still sizzled over her head, preventing her from advancing. That kind of equipment for the smaller ones is illegal for any civilians use apart from the military and the spatial navy, it doesn't prevent most small sized criminals on Caleria to use them.
Steve was making himself an important asset in their small team despites her first impressions, she knew that he wanted to be here. He doesn't want to be unreliable to their department and was proving adaptable despites his rushed admission in their planetary's sector and the lack of consistent training the new recruits were getting in the academy as of late. It was her role now, to teach someone who is going to be soon her equal in all but size. Even with his talent in eletronics warfare, he is not much of a match for any AI augmented cyborgs or in any gunfight involving anyone that is the same size as her.
Even if he can handle himself, Seykkee still has to rely all on herself for most gunfight. His small frame and his tech knowledge gave her invaluable intel lately. However he wasn't on the job for very long yet, being a PSID field agent is a whole different beast than being a planetary mercenary in one back corner of the universe.
The PSID's lacks of means within the organization was an old known problem in their department. Despite the top brass being adamant in the ability of their different members to still accomplish their mission. It resulted in PSID and PSIT personels alike dying because of the lack of equipments. Good people. To the point were funerals of fallen colleagues were slowly becoming trivials. Only to be just holo-pictures hung on the wall of honors.
It is not uncommon now for most of the PSID to get their own custom equipment, if it wasn't for their small paycheck almost all of Seykkee's colleagues would already have gotten military grade equipment. Several times already did Seykkee though about getting her talons on more advanced or borderline illegal equipments for herself. At least with Steve's arrival they already got their car covered thanks to him.
Seykkee's former mentor, Volkos, had started his contraband investigation long before Seykkee got enlisted and the more informations her dead partner and herself rooted out from smugglers or back alley dealers, the more strings they unravelled between control-freak bureaucrasts and influencial warmongers. Unfortunately, most of their targets were still walking free. they were smart and careful enough in their dealings that it make them tracking those peoples down difficult, especially when they got the capacity to disappear for good from Caleria if they wanted to.
"I just got the chief Laeris on the comms, PSIT's armored reinforcements are on their way. Fall back now! We're not equiped for that, this is beyond us!"
Steve was right on one thing, she was pretty much outgunned all by herself. But she was not outwits yet, that's why she had to act now. It wont be long before they got through the gate and out in the wild again, the smaller ones could already be getting away in the smaller vents. It would take days to track them back and could still jeopardize years of investigation if they ran away. The risk was too great. They shouldn't be allowed to roam free in the streets, they had to be put behind bars. Or at least to be taken down.
"Seykkee, do you copy? Please get out of here now! You're going to get yourself killed!" But Seykkee didn't listened, she was already running.

Pretty sure they softened regulations on what is considered "organic" :p
Gotta appreciate that the minis too get a staircase along the big one! Also love the tasty soup meme still being around!
Love the piece as well man! Great work in the pose and design of the gear!
Does she have a prisoner with her or something or is it this Steve that the story mentions?

Ooh, I like it. I take it this is a continuation from the last one?
I'm really digging the cyberpunk environment.
I'm really digging the cyberpunk environment.
it sorta is! commissioner is interested in building a story through pics, so it's a slight redesign of previous big bird and i'll prob do some tweaks of the current designs in the next com! (that'll be a scene)
That story makes me want to see more of this character. Giant bird cops, woo!
Commissioner seems to be a regular, so expect proper scenes down the line
This is excellent! Birds used to be dinosaurs, and it looks like some of them still are...
she'll come back in the future for scenes n stuff, so if you like cyberpunk, you'll be served :D
I'd love to see my own character like this even, such great work.
please don't call her chicken to her face
Damn this is a masterpiece of cyberpunk goodness! So much detail to appreciate and great expression!
I really like your texturing here it looks really good especially with like the arms and feather for the character and all the little scratch marks and other little bits and stuff, with leads me to another thing. Your detailing here is quite nice, as tier is this might sound I like how you did the zipper, idk it's something I see botched a lot so its quite solid here also all the various markings and padding makes this a bit more dynamic as with the overall pose which is pretty fun I have to say. But ya nice job!
