Hurt
⊱━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⊰ ✧ ⊱━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⊰
For years, Hawthorn had the firm belief that she was alone in her battles against the shadows.
For years, Hallow had the firm belief she would never be understood and resigned herself to being a loner.
They had much in common. Both warriors of the Moon, both warm-blooded and ferocious, both painfully different.
They had found solace in one another.
Hallow knew when the nightmares were bad.
She could see it in Hawthorn’s eyes, as hard-set as they were and how used they may be to hiding emotion and pain.
Hurt. It rang clear as day through her. It was an expression she knew all too well.
It bespoke the ache in one’s throat when they tried to hold back tears.
“Ah...eheh…it ap-ppears to be raining…” the tawny Doe had murmured to Hallow as she gazed into the distance.
Hallow didn’t need to be told - they were near where she’d found them.
Found their mangled bodies...found that tragedy that forever changed the Wildflower.
Hallow glanced around, then upward, searching for a droplet of rain.
“It’s not raining, Hawthorn.” she murmured gently, pulling her close.
“A-Are you sure…?” the smaller Doe asked in a gentle whisper, sniffling.
She knew Hawthorn did not like to show weakness, so she gave her a gentle smile, taking pity on the younger Geodoe.
“No, you’re right...we should get inside before we fall ill.” she whispered, gently taking the rubine Doe’s hand.
