Mother Nature's Realm
Even for a lion that loves soarin' through the infinite blue skies, and his fluffy dergon friend who calls those very same gorgeous skies his domain; these two adventurous aviators will occasionally shift back a few gears and embark on some less adrenaline-pumping adventures. Seeking something different than the wild yet glorious thrills of flight. One might think that wandering through a forest can't quite match the stunning view from above, seeing vast stretches of terrain passing right below with its many grand features. However, taking their time to explore some of Mother Nature's many different realms up close, provides them a chance to experience a very different kind of beauty. Allowing them to truly embrace the many treasures each place has to offer, along with the rare secrets and bright gems hidden among them.
On this particular warm sunny summer's day, the two find themselves trekking along a lengthy trail quite a few dozen miles deep inside a lush forest. Their path taking a variety of twists and turns around the countless tall and sturdy trees, whose healthy green leaves dance and sway in the steady forest breeze that carries Mother Nature's song and tickles both of their ears. Every so often, the two would encounter a small stream or a brook that cuts across the peaceful trail; carrying refreshing, crystal clear waters that trickle down from the distant snow-capped mountains. But after a quick hop over for the lion and nothing more than a simple step over for his big friend, the two would continue on their journey to no place in particular. Not caring about the destination, but rather just enjoying the journey itself and all of its wonders. The entire time, their eyes would dart from left to right, glancing further down the path to behind them or up above as they enjoyed the show all around them of forest critters and birds going about their business on this nice day. And although a few short sentences and a few chuckles were exchanged between the two at the beginning of their stroll, for the most part, the two remained silent. Not wanting to disturb the natural currents of nature's song that flows through the surrounding environment. That song combining with the golden rays of sunshine pouring on them through the canopy, gives them an unparalleled magical sensation; a certain warming embrace from Mother Nature, the gift of her peaceful realms...
Was gonna title this "Walk in the 'Pawk'" ...but let's settle down with that xP And if I haven't said it before, lemme say it a thousand times more... I LOVE BLUE JAYS! Sadly I've seen exactly zero so far this year. Heard one later in the evening a week ago, high up in the trees while doing some bird-watching in the backyard. I was hoping it would swing by the feeder but no luck. Ahh wells, still got a whole summer season ahead to see some. Actually, there is this female cardinal I've been seeing for a good while now, who frequents the bird feeder. One day I noticed a male cardinal show up, and thought he'd just pass through, but nope. Been seeing him around more and more. Specifically around the female cardinal too! Every time I see the female one I'm always on the lookout for the male one and seems almost every time he's most def there. I'm like 90% sure they're mates now and it's so heckin' adorable. Who knows maybe in a good number of months might be seeing more cardinal flying around, offspring of those two love birbs =3 ...wait. Not sure why I just started rambling about that x) Anywho hope you enjoyed this piece and the little writing to go along with it.

Stunningly beautiful piece! I saw the original when posted. Lunalei does really amazing art, and also is such a nice person - she did an interview with me for the Paw-Post quite early on in her popping up here and was really fun to talk with!
As for the scene, gorgeous and peaceful nature moment. :) Love Bluejays too - very smart birds! Kinda neat to see the size difference between you and Warmheart too - such handsome guys too, I might add. :)

That mustve been before I joined up with the fandom and all. I dont think I remember that one, but im sure it was a nice interview! Hopefully you can get the time to fire it back up again sometimes in the next year or so :) Which makes me wonder about all the tons of stuff ive missed before 2017 when I really started interacting with the community
And yeah size difference... lets just say for him I'll have to think twice about leaping pounce hugs x) That wont quite end as I usually hope xD Altho on the flip side that does mean big paws :D

This is a lovely commission, Dexter, certainly a change from the beach. It's interesting how seeing the smallest thing makes us awe at the wonder of the world around us. Lunalei, has worked her magnificent talent and given us a beautiful perspective of you and Warmheart. I love your beaming expressions and got a say you guys still look handsome. No matter what setting your in, you always seem to express a warm personality and positivity. WELL DONE to you and Lunalei.ββ βββ
Yep for once the lions not lazily flopped out on the beach, but rather taking a nice stroll through a peaceful forest. Yet another place the adventurous lion feels at ease. Illustrations like this are symbolic to me too for that very reason. So much going on in the world, cant forget to take a moment to stop and look at the smaller things, just like a little birby that's beautiful in so many different ways. And im so glad Lunalei depicted just that. And that expression is true to life how I am when I see a blue jay xD I get so excited, and try to carefully pull out my phone to take a pic or vid, but I swear they can sense it because they always fly off at just the last moment. Well most always, ive got lucky a few times :)
