The Summer of Sond continues apace!
On this day - July 6th - in 1973, the 8th Bond film, 'Live & Let Die,' had its gala premiere in London, at the Odeon Leicester Square.
For this, the 47th anniversary of that date, I present the Ames Sond poster re-creation, based on this original: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jr9b3otut.....Die1b.jpg?dl=0
~
When three British secret agents are all killed within a single 24 hour period, Ames Sond, agent 00S, is sent to investigate. The bloody trail will lead him to New York City, New Orleans and the Caribbean island nation of San Monique. The serpentine operative will cross paths with deadly drug smugglers, a cadre of avian ne'er-do-wells, and a beautiful, psychic tarot priestess... and a river chase that will make you leap out of your seat! A MUST SEE SPECTACLE OF THRILLS!

Hmmm, I can't imagine why! >:}===<
Could it be that lovely gazelle starlet making her major motion picture debut, in this entry in the series? :}c
Or is it the Sond voodoo doll? Hahaha

They were just hired goons/thugs, really.
But bluejays are natural assassins, I think. They'll kill your sleep, every morning, if you give them half a chance.

This makes me wonder what kind of critter Paul McCartney would be. :D
Similarly, for A View to a Kill, I think snake Duran Duran would be interesting.

Oh hey! Thanks for the 20 faves on those various Ames Sond pictures, AND for the watch! :}===<
Isn't it obvious? Paul McCartney would be a beetle! All of the Beatles would be.
As for Duran Duran, I haven't yet gotten around to considering them, but I'll take a look now and see what I come up with. There are several members, though, so it could be any number of different species.
I wonder if you mention the idea of Duran Duran being snakes just because Ames Sond is a snake? Or were you also thinking about the their song 'Union of the Snake'?
Conversely, that song is from the album 'Seven and the Ragged Tiger', which also features the song 'Tiger Tiger.' So, there's the idea of them being tigers, or various felines. [What are the chances that a majority of them would be tigers, you ask? Well, what are the chances that three of the main members would all be named Taylor??]
Of course, we can't forget about 'Hungry Like the Wolf' - although this title would imply that, instead of perhaps being wolves, Duran Duran should be something that has associations with wolves: as if they were various English/European dog breeds but drew on wolf imagery. One must also consider 'New Moon on Monday' in this vein.
But, that's all a bit too easy. Something about them, visually, made me think it should be a handful of various bird species, as well.

> Paul McCartney would be a beetle!
He wasn't in the Beatles anymore when he did Live and Let Die, though... he was in Wings. Although I guess beetles have wings, too, so maybe that covers it.
> I wonder if you mention the idea of Duran Duran being snakes just because Ames Sond is a snake?
Yeah, that's pretty much why.
> Something about them, visually, made me think it should be a handful of various bird species, as well.
That's the 80s big hair kicking in, I think. :)

It might be the hair, yeah.
Also, as for Paul as a beetle, just because he wasn't in the Beatles any longer doesn't mean we can forget about that part of his career.
And, if you look at the poster above, you'll see that the band that did the title theme is credited as 'Chitinous Wings' already!
In fact, it says 'Belinda McDusa & Chitinous Wings', since the band name was 'Paul McCartney & Wings' in real life. When I had this poster made, I wanted to change things up a bit more, so I put forth the idea of Linda McCartney getting a bit more attention in the name of the band. Linda was part of Wings from the start, after all. The Sond-verse version is 'Belinda McDusa' because I happen to know a certain gorgon-naga named Belinda.
Of course, this would imply she kept her last name when marrying the beetle who may or may not be named Paul. >___>
Anyway, the idea would have been that Belinda, a naga, was the only reptile, and the rest of the band-members were winged insects, including Paul, the beetle. So she's the non-winged, non-chitinous outlier, and they're the 'Chitinous Wings' part.

Why Blue Jays for the guys in the boat race?
This was a great movie with lots of fun scenes and one of my favorite Bond Girls too; and also one of my favorite villains. Love this movie poster depiction, boy does it sure ever capture it!

One of the conceits of the Sond version of this film is that the whole of Dr Kananga's crew are various types of birds. The vague allusion is that, in this world, birds tend to form tight-knit communities that appeared to be insular, from the outside. Also, I think you already know how, within this world, reptiles were seen as inherently villainous, and were also a sort of splinter-community in the world.
Humans and mammals all seemed to get along, but reptiles and birds kind of got excluded in a lot of things. [There may have also been a trend of birdsploitation films in the 60s and 70s, which the Sond series wanted to crib from, a bit. >__> ]
As for the cast:
Dr Kananga is a condor.
Mr Big is 'Mr Roc' [the mythical giant bird]
Whisper is an orphingron chicken.
TeeHee is a cassowary.
Adam, the guy in the black-and-white blazer in this scene: https://youtu.be/JmawMNkD-ZI?t=49 - is a loon.
To make them stand out, I chose a gaggle of bluejays as the random boat-chase-guys, if only to make it easier on Luci as she made this poster.
Sidenote: I love loons and blue jays, so that's also why they're in here! I should get a picture of JW Pepper and Adam, a moment from that scene on youtube I linked.
Anyway, glad you liked the poster! This is one of my fave Bond films too! My fave Moore one, for sure.

My favorite Moore is "For Your Eyes Only" but this one is my number 2.
Excellent explanation on Birds being used like this. In my Metamor Keep stories, Reptiles and Birds also started forming their own communities and social support organizations, so I totally support this. Cassowary as Teehee... excellent choice! And I'd love a villainous chicken! Sweet cast!

FYEO is great, yeah. :}
Glad you approve! Thanks for the reply.
I remember the Metamor stories. I used to trawl the TSA, so I remember the old series, like Metamor, Blind Pig, Winds of Change.

Metamor Keep has its own website (www.metamorkeep.com) and I've been writing stories for it still, though there's not much activity there. It's really just a few die hard folks like myself still writing for it at this point. I've got a few stories still to tell there, darn it! Next story I'm going to write is from the perspective of a Woodpecker Keeper who has only recently changed.

Yeah, it always amazes me when somebody goes, "Hey, I remember MK! Is that still around?" I mostly write for my own sake, because I have stories that have to get out of me. But it's nice to know there are a few folks out there that still appreciate them.

The original poster may have had random girls, but I believe the woman in that card was meant to be the character of 'Rosie Carver': https://jamesbond.fandom.com/wiki/Rosie_Carver
In my version, she's a frilled lizard, based on a design a friend of mine had made for another project, and used with her permission.
Also, thanks for faving this picture. :>

You're welcome, friend!

As for your alt-title suggestion: The goal of these titles is not to insert snake-related words. The goal was just to make sure there was a single sibilant 'S' in the title, if there wasn't already one there. The 'hiss' itself is the serpent-related element, there doesn't need to be anything more on top of that.
Many Bond titles already had an S, so no change was needed. Eg:
Casino Royale = Cassssino Royale
Quantum of Solace = Quantum of Ssssolace
Spectre = Sssspectre
The Spy Who Loved Me = The Sssspy Who Loved Me
In the case of Bond titles with no S, I wasn't specifically changing them to snake-based ideas, I was just making sure an S was present.
"A View to a Kill" became "A Glimpsssse of a Kill" just for the added sibilant S.
"Thunderball" became "Thundersssquall" because a squall is a strong sea storm, and the story is very much based in the ocean.
"You Only Live Twice" became "He Only Livesss Twice" - this shift achieves the sibilant 'S' while also flipping the phrase to be talking only about the hero instead of about anyone in particular. Thus one can imagine that everyone else 'only lives once', but this individual lives twice, for some reason / some manner of speaking.
The point is, the titles borne of a world inhabited with furries/anthros, where, because it's a world of animal-people, it wouldn't make any sense to make every single title feature an animal pun.
Although, I did end up doing these, which are indeed specifically animal related, thanks to the title being a reference to the villain of the story:
"Dr. No" = 'Dr Ssssnow' - the main villain was made into a snow leopard, who was given the last name of 'Snow', since he was an orphan with no better name.
Goldfinger = Goldssscale - the main villain was made into a gila monster obsessed with gold
The Man With the Golden Gun = The Ssssnake With the Golden Gun - the main villain was made into a naga, like Sond, for the filmic original character was always meant to be a 'dark reflection of Bond'

I can't believe I forgot this one, this used to scare the crap out of me, it was those coconut scarecrows. In a young mind for me they were scary and I refused to watch it.
Wow, how young were you? - I can see them being very creepy, especially given how Rosie reacts to them.
Thanks for the fave on this, too!
Thanks for the fave on this, too!
I would say the youngest age was 5 and it took me a very long time to work up to actually watch it. Only a few times did some movies scare me and I couldn't watch them for a long time.
Yeah, that's pretty young to be watching Bond.
I watched 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' a lot when I was a kid, also around 5, and I was very cautious to avoid the parts when Judge Doom revealed his toon nature. His crazy eyes and menacing presence [with the buzz-saw arm] were too intense for little Ame. :P

Oh I feel you there! Doom was a scary villan, He didn't bug me though. This is silly though for me the only other things that scared me were the main villan monsters in Godzilla vs Destoroyah, the caterpillar monsters in Rodan, the wolf man from the 40s-50s, and finally Reptilicus.
