Four-horned antilopes - small animals that distributed widely over most of India, from the Himalayan foothills to peninsular India and a dew may remain in lowland Nepal. They often occurs in scattered populations and all their population is estimated at less than 10,000 mature individuals.
Four-horned Antelopes are restricted to forest habitats and grassland margins, and mostly occur in open, dry deciduous mixed forests in undulating or hilly areas and never far from water. They are solitary and browse and graze.
Clearance of scrub and forest for agriculture are the major treat to the specie because of their habitat destruction. It leading to direct habitat loss and lack of connectivity between protected areas where four-horned antilopes lives. But this specie is totally protected by law on Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act. And it is listed on CITES Appendix III (Nepal only).
These animals are very wary and rerely viwed in the wild and not much is known about them due to their elusive nature.
It's the second YCH in this series that dedicated to animal and plants species of our planet with small parts of information about them. I added some artistic unrealistic part into my artwork because I was too inspired them and drew too fast and read more information only after. But my focus is on their beauty that took my heart and make my hands draw. So I'll continue drawing and searching for new and new information about our beautiful planet's neighbors .)
Size - 10x15 sm (C6), Materials - watercolor paper "Potentate" + copic multiliner 005 + watercolors "White Nights"
