Shortly after drawing Markeb's starfighter, I felt like drawing another ship, and decided I should probably design bounty hunter Wassa Rydaar's gunship.
I haven't decided many of the specifics for this ship yet, it's a modified Reva freighter/shuttle, intended to be fairly unassuming and inconspicuous overall. However, it's equipped with a number of weapons, the most prominent being the two twin autocannon turrets under the wings, and the four missile launchers on the front. Another twin autocannon turret covers the rear of the ship, and with beefed-up deflector shields and sensor jammers, this freighter-turned-gunship can dish out plenty of punishment while also being tough enough to take a beating and still survive to fly another day, as well as running blockades and evading detection when smuggling is part of the client's orders.

Is it bad that Spaceballs might have disproportionately influenced some of my ship designs? My tastes in vehicle design and what I find practical and/or aesthetically pleasing does seem to result in a lot of spaceships that are basically "space cars" and "space trucks", complete with headlights--only said headlights contain both spotlights that give visible light, and often some form or infrared illuminators for the ship's sensors and navigational assistance systems. Useful for navigating asteroid fields or avoiding collisions when approaching planets or space stations with active traffic. Very helpful for avoiding random bits of floating debris, derelict satellites, and Space Deer that might be drifting around in orbit around a planet, too.
I think years ago we discussed the concept of "space campers", I love the idea of turning a small transport shuttle or freighter into the space-faring equivalent of a camper or houseboat.

Just remember the raspberry jam for dealing with hostile radar.
And, I don't think Spaceballs being an influence is anything bad. I've played one of those mechanic simulator games, and the last thing in the "story mode" was to outfit a station wagon with space engines and wings that look like they were taken directly off of Lonestar's Winnebago... I dare say that movie rivals all of Star Wars for fans. Especially considering a lot of us who like it may not be fans of Star Wars...
I do think I recall that, with the space camper idea.
Having a sort of floodlight or "search light" setup with any extras tends to make sense, as more passive systems might not pick up certain things. Take for example, some ship, debris, or space rock that doesn't have a high reflectivity value. That sort of thing might not be something you'd normally spot or think to look for till you ran into it, or till the proximity sensors started going off. Literally shedding some light on these things could well help avoid disaster.
