It was a cold night in the Hundred Acre Wood, all the birds were snuggled in their nest, the nocturnal animals began to come out, and everyone was sleeping, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, Tigger, Owl, Pooh, Piglet, and their most recent friend, Wyuli. We shift our focus to a grand home in the middle of a beech tree. This house belonged to Piglet, the smallest of Pooh’s friends, who often got frightened. Let’s just say, he won’t be having a good night, and thus begins our story.
One night in the Hundred Acre Wood, Piglet was not having a pleasant slumber, he tossed, and turned, all the while shivering and whimpering, a tell tale sign that he was having a nightmare.
In his nightmare, Piglet was inside of what appears to look like a garden. “Oh, these look pretty nice” he said. Piglet found a flower, picked it up and smelled it. Just then, the sky turned dark, “oh m-m-my, what happening?” he said, staring to get nervous. Suddenly, all of the flowers transformed into Jagulars , Heffalumps, and Woozles. Piglet was frightened, “YIKES!!!” he screamed as the monsters chased him into a pitch black room.
Suddendly, one of the monsters changed into what appeared to be a fire breathing dragon. Piglet screamed and ran for his life. “I-I-It’s hard to be b-b-brave when you’re a very small animal “ he said, panicking. The dragon-like creature expelled a huge cloud of smoke, causing Piglet to cough and run away. He ran for what seemed like miles, until he heard the dragon-like creature roaring. Just then, it expelled what looked like fire breath at the scared Piglet. Luckily, he was fast enough to dodge it and kept on running, dodging each burst of fire breath each time. Then, he found himself cornered, Piglet tried to run to the sides, but found that he couldn’t. The dragon gave a very loud roar as he opened his mouth and lunged at Piglet. “OH-D-D-DEAR!!!!!” he said, shutting his eyes as the dragon’s open mouth came closer to him.
Meanwhile, in the Hundred Acre Wood, Wyuli the Wolf was fast asleep, wearing her magenta colored nightcap, dreaming of making lovely dishes for his friends such as a honey soufflé for Pooh, a haycorn pie for Piglet, and a carrot cake for Rabbit, among others. She was about to dream of making lunch with all her friends when all of a sudden, she heard a very loud screaming noise, “NOOOOOOOO!!!”, it came. Wyuli gasped as she heard the loud noise and woke up with worry. “That sounded like.... Piglet, something must be terribly wrong!” she said. Wyuli got out of bed, lit a candle, and hurried as fast as she could to Piglet’s house. “Hang on, little buddy, i’m coming!”, she said as she ran deeper and deeper into the night.
Back at Piglet’s house, Piglet woke up screaming, “NOOOOOOO!!”. When he woke up, panting, he decided to hide under the bed, and began to cry. Piglet was being so scared that he thought that his dream was the scariest nightmare he ever had. “What a dream, I thought that dragon was going to eat me” he said, still very frightened. After about what seemed like five minutes, there was a knock at his door. “YIKES!” said Piglet, thinking it was the dragon from his dream.
“Piglet, are you here?” said the voice. This made Piglet even more frightened, causing him to shiver and cover his eyes with his paws. “It’s hard to sleep at night k-k-knowing there’s monsters out there to you“ he said, with a panicked, sobbing voice. After another knock, the door slowly opened, it turned out to be Wyuli, holding a candle and wearing her magenta nightcap. “Piglet, where are you? I heard you screaming” she called.
Wyuli looked in the kitchen and the entire downstairs hall, but she couldn’t find him. “Where could he be?” she asked herself, showing signs of concern for her best friend. Just then, she heard a loud shivering and a whimpering noise coming from upstairs. “Huh, what’s that noise?” she asked, in a curious tone.
Wyuli went up the stairs and followed the sound until it led upstairs into Piglet’s bedroom. “Piglet, are you here, hello? she called again, holding the candle in one paw. Once again, she heard the shivering noise, Wyuli soon pinpointed it to under Piglet’s bed, where it was the loudest. She looked under the bed and gasped, there was Piglet, curled up and shaking violently as he cried. Wyuli was shocked, she had never seen her friend so upset before.
She kneeled down to his level, and used her mother-like personality to try to calm her friend down. ”Piglet, are you alright?”, said Wyuli, in a sweet and worried voice. Piglet, having heard her voice, opened his eyes, ran out from under the bed and began to cry some more, with tears flowing down his eyes. “Oh Wyuli!” he said, hugging her and catching his friend off guard.
Wyuli knew that Piglet was really terrified due to the way he was acting. “Aww, what’s wrong, sweetie?” she asked, in a motherly voice. Piglet, still crying, soon spoke up. “I had a nightmare where some m-m-monsters chased me, then there was a dragon, and he started chasing me and breathing fire, and was about to eat me”. “Oh, Wyuli, it was so a-a-a-awful!” he sobbed, placing his head into Wyuli’s chest”. The wolf noticed this, and gave her friend a reassuring hug, rubbing his back to help him calm down. “There, there, there, Piglet, everything’s going to be alright now, it was just a dream” said Wyuli, comforting her friend. “I still feel very scared about sleeping alone, because the dragon might come and eat me” he said, still crying. “It’s hard to sleep alone when you’re such a very small animal”.
Wyuli looked at Piglet and was really worried. “Poor little guy, he must of had a really rough night.” she thought. “There must be something I can do to make him more comfortable, but what? “. She thought for a moment and then an idea came to her. “Piglet, do you want me to sleep in your bed with you tonight?” she asked, kindly. ”I’ll make sure there are no monsters in your dreams”.
Piglet then looked up at his friend and started to tear up in happiness. ”You’ll do that for me?” he sniffled. Wyuli just looked at her best friend and gave him the biggest smile she had. “Of course I will, buddy!“ she said.”I promise that i’ll be right by your side tonight”. “Promise?” asked Piglet, “I promise”, replied the wolf.
He was so touched by this that he gave Wyuli another hug. “Thank you, Wyuli”, he said, finally calming down. “You’re very welcome” she said, closing her eyes and embracing Piglet’s hug. “Just remember that I’ll always be there for you”. Then, Wyuli and Piglet climbed into the bed together, snuggled down under the covers, and pulled the blanket over their bodies.
”Good night, Piglet” said Wyuli, in a sweet voice. “Sweet dreams”.
“Good night, Wyuli” said Piglet, smiling at his friend.
They blew out the candle and fell right asleep. For the rest of the night, Piglet didn’t have any more nightmares, but instead had dreams about his friends, Pooh, Tigger, and especially Wyuli. He was able to sleep peacefully knowing that his friend will be right there for him.
And that’s the end of this story.
