so for those who don't know I'm currently a 3D animator working on my own little film project. it's been in the works for about a year almost and I've made some good progress and learned a lot. I have a view here of Crona from behind. My animation final is in the morning so I'm not sure if I have the wings on her or not because of time. at any rate though, I'll post another update tomorrow.

i'm like that too sometimes. especially when I learn that there's a better way to do it. but then i just get faster and blaze through it quicker. This maybe took about an hour, 2 at the most to build. It was a template off of Certo and I just modified where it was necessary. I'm trying to find someone who is comfortable enough to do a 3D collaborative work. I want to start doing more 3D illustrations in the near future, but collabs are always fun.
*Chuckle*
Damn nice for two hours of work :D
Something like that would probably take me the better part of a day to do in Softimage or Maya.
If I could model something out in an hour or two, then I would probably finish a lot more often :D
Oh and if you're not using Zbrush yet, I would highly recommend it. It's a lot of fun. You'll question
why you're still pushing points around the old fashioned way once you get the hang of it :D

Personally, if you're just starting out with digital sculpting I would not try zbrush as my fist choice. The UI can be pretty intimidating among other things. There are currently 3 primary sculpting apps each with their own pros and cons. They are Zbrush, Mudbox, and 3D Coat (soon to be 4 but that's another story).
Having used all 3, personally I prefer Mudbox and 3D Coat. That's not to say zbrush is bad or a matter of X program is better then Y. It's what ever gets the job done the quickest most efficient way possible.

If you have any questions about anything 3D related I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my abilities : )

yup i'm familiar with xbrush. haven't had the chance to mess around with it yet though. hopefully soon. But i guess it depends on what you define as simple for 3D. I started out with Poser which may be easier for a new comer. The saying i have is that Maya is like a girlfriend. Spend enough time with her and she'll work wonders for you. Don't and she'll spite you for it. lol
