[Animation] WIP - Feliro - Main Auto-Combo
This is a random thing I decided to do to work on a different character for a bit to avoid burnout on Aurumo.
This here is gonna be Feliro's main 'auto combo' on button-1. Nudging himself forward while reaching out with those leggies to reach his foes, most of which will be larger than him, since he's one of my smallest critters.
This chain will have varients if button-2 is used or different directions are held in the for kick 2 or 3. I think most of his normals will be 2 or 3 attack chains of his nature.
He's not reall gonna have any long-ranged game, he'll need to be in close range to his targets, so being small, it'll be tougher on him to comba larger foes reach, so he relies on his speed and flexibility to get at his target.
Being smol and quick, he'll be harder to catch, but will have a smaller lifebar, so when he is caught, it'll hurt a lot more.
His jacket and tail vanish cuz I like to get to the secondary motions after I have the base motions done. I didn't ge tthat far when I decided to move to another project for the day.
Pretty happy with this so far though. Lil cutie with flexible kicks.

The idle animation reminds me a bit of Christie from Tekken. Not a bad thing! I like the "ready to go" energy.
Animation is so sick!! I love this character already.
Does this mean he will have the strongest kicks than others? Imo by the look of your description, he may be too underpowered to use unless he has some temporary boosts or something, cuz smaller lifebar is usually reserved for insanely strong hitting chars, like akuma from street fighters for example, he has a smaller life bar due to his reckless abilities.
Not necessarily. He's gonna have generally lower strength, but very, good frame data and good combo/mixup game that can lead to good damage. Sort of a mix of rush-down and bait&punish gimmicks. His movement options will be the best of my roster with good dodging tactics or attacks that give him i-frame windows to certain types of attacks.
His higher number of hits also makes him good at pressuring guard meters in my system. So he can be an annoying lil butthead, but the trade-off is that he'll get lit up if caught.

Sounds like he requires a lot more skill to use. but thing is, if you annoy another skilled player, they forget how to play the game if they get angry ;p which is a great advantage
Yeah, spacing out his normals will be important, to make him much harder to punish if he tippy-toes a lot of his kicks. II generally plan for him to be annoying in the sense of "now I'm over here, now I'm over here, now I'm over here" The weakness is that his attacks are challenged easy by priority, so he risks counter hits hard if he's called out as well.
Mind games in a fighting game can be difficult to master, but hilarious in tournaments, but what annoys me is everyone picks Ryu in street fighters because he is " standard" I mean, people try to win with a char based from meta, not the char they love and are a fan off..
It's all different midsets. A lot of people gettin into a game will look towards a standard character to learn the game with. Ryu has the appeal of being a standard likable character and then many will tend to branch off from there. I did use Ryu a lot when I first got into SF, but I branched away depending on the game. Rose was my main in SF4. 3S, I have no idea who my main in because I'm a weird, inconsistent scrub at that game, but I play Hugo, Q, Urien and Remi probably the most.
I understand why people play the meta and pick top teirs when they are going for the competitive aspect and going to tourneys and shit. I used to get pissy about top tiers but it just kinda is what it is. I think some games, watching the tourneys because really, really boring, like when Beyo dominated smash4 tourneys.
I know I play a lot of shit tiers (lol my 3S picks), but I play to styles I like or characters that are just appealing to me in general. I suffered using Jigglypuff as the worst character of 2 smash games after Melee, I kept playing her cuz I just like her weird kit. (Though I've finally been rewarded with her being a mid-tier at least... when I hardly play to any competitive level anymore, rip, my art and own game dev takes most of my time now).
My favorite thing is to see touneys with people playing the odd characters that you rarely see. 3S had a player that tore up that competitive scene in Japan with Q, named Kuroda. very entertaining stuff. (Hayou's Hugo is also notable) Amidst the sea of Kens, Chuns and Yuns and YAWNS. I feel bad cuz I don't like down playing their skill, but I just get bored of seein the same top characters do... basically the same flow-charts at the end of the day, only certain players with them really stand out as interesting. O still enjoy watching the stuff, but it's the weird characters that get me intently watching.

I agree, and thing is, if everyone picks ryu, their chances drop to bottom because they are going up against ryu anyways. I always liked using zangief XD
The sea of Ryu also is partly dependent on the ranking. Lower ranks you see a ton of them, as you climb, you start to see less and less, it's funny. Same happens when I watch some streamers use a smurf account.
Hugo's my fav grappler from the series.

Yuh, and the special intro he has with Alex is base on the Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan standoff.
I don't have any particular liking to Wrestling though. I just like his design and play style.

Idea, what if he has own special meter? The more kicks he uses successfully the more the meter fills which causes his kicks to become stronger? but the bar depletes over time when he does not connect kicks? Which encourages the character to become rather reckless to fill the bar up but teaches a harsh do not be greedy lesson. But if the bar fills fully, he unleashes a powerfull stomp super? then the bar depletes back to zero? if the opponent guards it can break the guard that allows him to continue a normal combo?
Nah, Feliro's not getting any power gimmicks. He will have a power up or "install" super where he gets to freely chain all of his attacks together with no limit, until the effect wears off. Pretty much something like Yun's Genei Jin from SF3
