Inktober 2020 - Trap
Somehow, I never actually tried out vine inflation prior to this piece. I'm very happy with how this turned out overall! I don't do bellies that are swollen in quite this way all that often, so I'd say this turned out pretty nicely for the idea!

Cha'tol was an adept scout and an accomplished hunter for his clan. The hauls he and his men brought back to his people were often enough to feed them for weeks - but, the Wild Mother had turned her back on them this month, leaving their food reserves bare, and their hunting grounds empty. Cha'tol knew that something had to be done. He sent five of his men out into the deeper parts of the jungles, where the shamans warned them not to tread, in hopes of finding new food. In their absence, he fortified the village in their absence, along with the remaining men. The men were supposed to return by the night, but he did not see them for three whole moons...
Cha'tol's heart was clouded with guilt and worry - had his men been eaten by wild beasts? Or captured by the other tribes? Or did they starve, having found no food to sustain them on their journies?
These questions flooded into the huntmaster's eyes - he knew he had to go out there and see what happened for himself. He was an accomplished survivalist, and this jungle would find him to be harder to best...

It took one moon for Cha'tol to find out what happened to his men, as the trap was sprung... The vines caught him unawares, as he rested under a mighty tree that seemed to touch the stars themselves. He sprung into action the moment he awoke - but it was too late. The vines had already wrapped around his legs, and no matter how much he slashed, they would not relent. And then, came the feeding vines. The panther's tongue was suddenly assaulted by a sickly sweet, earthy taste, as a thick syrup surged into his mouth. He feared if he did not swallow, he would choke! And so, he gulped, and gulped, and gulped, and before long, his lean, tanned torso began to round out from his unwelcome feast.
Cha'tol's stomach ached in pain, but not nearly as much as it should've been hurting - and he had to admit, eating his fill was rather nice, especially after going with only one meal a day for the past week. His struggles became weaker and weaker as he resigned himself to his fate. The panther was hoisted into the air, whimpering lightly as the vines carried him off into the darkness, away from his fire. He felt his hide stretching out further and further, as his stomach growled in a vain attempt to digest the massive intake of calories. Cha'tol's keen sense told him that he was leaving the jungle... and from the sound of it, the plants were taking him underground. He would be lucky if he could ever walk himself back out, he thought, as his belly creaked and gurgled ominously. Was it just him... or was his body starting to feel softer?
