Continuing the Emma And Ash sketchbook.
Sorry for late hour of post - this is both the most boring and poorly drawn page in the sketchbook (and not quite finished) - so i took some extra care in the clean-up of the scan - and , yes, i digitally re-inked Emma's face and ears as well as the fox guy next to her based on the original rillly bad inks.
i got the perspective way off on the earlier version of this cuz i was more interested in trying to re-create a different looking mining technology that would still hark back to the later days of steam power. - so yeah it's sketchbook so i wasn't paying attention to making an interesting or polished drawing. i tried to fix the perspective a few years later - but .... The two wheels are different sizes and not set on the same level...so no matter what i did the perspective looked weird.
Anyhoo, boring picture, but the mines play a major role in the story.
Late entry in sketchbook - first try at a mine scene - i started dating some pages on the back of the page when i returned to inking the sketchbook so on the back of this page was : "pencil May 8th '17 - refined November 29th '18 - main ink etc December 5th '18" . Trying to keep track of where i was in revising the old sketchbook.

This looks super rad. The inking is amazing. If there's one constructive criticism I might offer: there's that weird tube going into the face of the wheel at the viewer's perspective, which sort of breaks the belt idea.
yeah, my bad. i didn't get around yet to doing a layer showing it is spraying river water on hot belt - toned version will have steam etc
sort of... but a few thousand years in the future - an exiled colony of genetically altered humans with some designer DNA.
Dang this is really an intricate scene and I love your crosshatching so much! Real nice use of black in the background.
