A Faulty Defense
On a chilly moonlit evening, Nex was walking home after a late shift, freezing cold on the frosty December morning. She had a jacket, but her cold-bloodedness had made it a nearly useless article of clothing, only providing additional assistance to her blouse in blocking the wind. She walked as fast as she could, hoping that the heat from her walking would help keep her from freezing, and it was just barely working.
She turned the corner down Fifth street, passing in front of the club, hearing the soft thump-thump of the rave drums passing through the sound-resistant windows, and seeing the glare from the neon lights refract through the middle layer of glass, which had been added to make a kaleidoscopic effect on the ground just outside the club. Nex debated heading in, but her girlfriend was at home waiting for her already.
She hurried on, crossing at the intersection, then turning right onto Darwin street, passing by a person with their hood pulled over their head, and hands in their pockets, fairly normal for a cold winter’s eve in the city, but something about how they walked put Nex on edge. Probably the cold getting to me, she decided as she hurried along. Nex felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and immediately pulled it out to check what the notification had been. She turns left down what she thinks is sixth street, and sees that the notification was just an inspirational quote, reading, “In the darkest of times, just have fun!” The background image was of a person watching a fireworks display while lounging on a beach.
Nex sighs, “Ugh, more useless crap,” she whispers to herself. She looks up from her phone, standing in front of a brick wall in a very dark alleyway. She immediately turns around and starts to walk back towards the street, but the coat-wearing person from earlier stands in the opening of the alleyway, walking towards Nex.
They reach into their pocket and pull out a knife, then look up at Nex, who immediately reaches into her purse to grab her trusty pepper spray, readying it.
The person moves closer to Nex, and Nex presses the button, but the can releases nothing, having leaked from a defective can. “Back up! I’m half dragon, I’ll burn you alive!” She shouts nervously.
The person lets out a soft laugh, and speaks out with a deep voice, “How cute, she pretends that a half-dragon can breathe fire in the cold.” He clicks the switch on his switchblade, popping the blade out.
Nex growls and hisses at him, “You know I’m not helpless, right! I can take you out myself!”
He twirls his knife a little, seeming to taunt Nex as she makes her stand, “Oh please, you’re scrawny, cold, and you rely on pepper spray for self-defense. Long story short, you’ll be doing what I want tonight. Give me that purse or I might not let you off so easily.” He gets the knife ready to stab, and holds his other hand out for the purse.
Nex looks down to her purse and feels a soft dripping sensation, like molasses from her claw tips, and moves to slash at her attacker. “Never!” She shouts.
He dodges, easily avoiding the chilly lizard’s slowed attack. “Oh please, you’re cold-blooded, you can’t land a hit on a sign post, let alone a warm-blood. Give me the purse, this is your last warning!” He steps closer to Nex, knife close to her throat.
Nex goes to slap him with her claw, trying to get the pink shiny substance dripping from her claws on him, but he dodges, shoving her hand onto her chest, splattering the material on her. Nex yelps, yanking her hand away, dropping her purse in the panic the material causes her. The robber grabs her purse and shouts “Later bitch!” as he turns the corner and runs.
Nex runs after him, but the warmth of running causes the material to spread faster across her chest. Nex stops and claws at it, trying to get it off, “No, no! Please no! Not this, not now!” The more she claws, the faster it spreads, tightening and stiffening on her chest’s scales, squeezing her breasts softly. “I have to get home fast,” Nex says to herself, walking towards her apartment, just three blocks from where she was, from there she could call the cops, and get her girlfriend to get the material off of her.
Nex sped up, but she could feel her heart pounding in fear, warming her up, causing the material to spread faster down her belly, covering it inch-by-inch in it’s shiny vinyly beauty. Nex crosses the street, grabbing her belly as the vinyl starts to get close to her hips, trying to stop it from flowing down any more, but instead causing it to spread to her palms. She squeals nervously and flicks her hands about in the air, splattering liquid vinyl on her wings and a drop on her cheek, all of which spread rapidly, seeming to have been warmed by the flicking action.
“No no no!” Nex squeals, clawing at the drop on her cheek, spreading it more as the vinyl around her hips spreads down and around, moving towards her back, legs, and tail. Nex begins to run towards her apartment, overcome by the fear of what’s enveloping her, feeling every single drop coat her scales. The drop on her cheek rapidly spreads towards her right eye, surrounding it, replacing it with a nice, smooth painted-on eye.
Nex screamed in fear, trying to peel back the vinyl layer over her eye to no avail, still just helping the vinyl spread towards the other, which quickly is replaced with another painted eye, both looking overjoyed to see the world.
Her wing membranes start to feel soft and rubbery, and her legs start to get soft. She also felt the vinyl encase the remainder of her back, causing it to instantly start to feel nice and warm. She looked at the street, seventh street, one more block, then she just had to make it to the third floor, she could do it, she could make it, so long as she didn’t--
She tripped, her left leg absorbed by the vinyl, going soft, causing it to collapse, causing her to bounce on the ground twice, her wings too far gone to flap, and her mouth slowly starting to close up into a joyous smile with her painted-on sawtooth lips. She tried to call for help, but the vinyl spread across the last bit of her mouth, muting her, her cheeks puff up a bit, lifting the smile, making it look even happier, her arms becoming fully absorbed, rounding out into tubes and her claws turning into rounded little nubs. She felt her tail spade become absorbed as well, inflating out into a nice puffy heart, and her paws become one with the vinyl as well, softening, her beans replaced with painted-on paw pads.
Nex stares up at the sky, trying to get up off the ground, but the large surface area of her wings and her lack of muscles and weight in her air-filled chambers make it impossible. She had but one thing she could do, wait, and wait she did, about an hour later, a familiar person stood above Nex, then picked her up.
“Nex? What happened to you?” She asks, looking over the toy kagon, who can do nothing to reply. “Well, if that was your thing, then I’ve got a few days to play with you before you revert, don’t I?” Nex stares at her girlfriend’s face, a fluffy cat-dragoness, and tries to reply, letting out no indications.
Nex is carried along by her girlfriend, and carried right up to the third floor, fourteenth apartment. “I’ll let you warm up, but I think I know just what your first job will be in that form!” She runs off, leaving Nex by the heater, awaiting whatever her beloved could have come up with.

A Faulty Defense
I wrote another short piece of TF. This time a mistake on Nex's part, at least it wound up decent in the end!
-side note, the story line after this the couple get Nex's stuff back cus the phone had tracking... good thing she got the new model!-
The thumbnail was generated for me by theentirebeemoviescript (Totally not asking her to make thumbnails for my writing because I'm too lazy and want to get her attention too)
