You had followed the mystical flame for what felt like an hour, straying far from the safety your camp. You had to; it was calling you into the woods. Gently it hovered through the trees, waiting for you when the terrain got rough. Even from a distance you could feel its comforting warmth, though it left the pine branches unharmed as it drifted past them. You had to know what it was, where it was leading you, and as you climbed higher you felt it would be any moment for your curiosity to be sated.
You reached the crest of the ridgeline where the ball of green flame paused to hover and you reached out towards it. But as you did it silently dispersed into many smaller flames, retreating towards a figure standing right in front of you. So focused were you on the light you never knew it was there. Two glowing green eyes shone through the shadows, and a fox appeared around them as the flames circled around her like servants tending to their master.
Her eyes shone just like the flames surrounding her and before you could react you felt a strange calm steady your body. You felt your concerns and worries drift away from your mind, your memories seeming frozen in ice. The vixen casually approached you, as large and confident as a wolf, and you let her do so. You wanted to help her, for she clearly wanted something from you. Even as she gaped her jaws in front of you, you couldn't resist. Her fangs shone brightly in the auroral light as the flames merged once more, gathering into her mouth. The ball of light you were now familiar with gently drifted back towards her gullet, illuminating her mouth for a moment before it sank down her throat. The green light at the back of her throat gradually dimmed until all was dark, and you noticed a faint glow coming from behind her fur moving down her neck and settling in her belly.
You had followed it all this way; it wouldn't hurt to follow it a little ways more...

Mythology and Folklore Rule 1: Never follow strange creatures or things, especially not through the woods or toward water.
I disagree. Look how well this scene turned out! (At least for Roselle)
Well that's Mythological Being Rule 1: Get your prey to follow you. It gives you all the advantages and removes them from any protection.
*I wag my tail as I followed the light to the vixen, calm and not nervous as i stare into her slimy jaws as i sre the light sonk deeper. I wanted to follow it.. And I did as I slowly set my muzzle and head into her maw, waiting to be united with the light*
A really nice read to be honest. You always write really nice and interesting things into these desciptions.
