Spring, 1330
Their discussion concluded with the Jutrstra, the Dragon Lords left the Firestone and fanned out among the rest of the Dragon Nation as the World Shaman lazily watched, the other wyrms giving the commanders wide deference as they found their respective hosts.
The Dragon Lords were the enforcers of the Jutrstra’s will and were renowned for their power and ability. While not necessarily the strongest dragons, they tended to be the best fighters, balancing brawn with intellect and skill. It was an unspoken rule that a Dragon Lord would be able to defeat any wyrm daring to oppose his or her authority, perhaps even killing opponents to assert their dominance. Thus these commanders were forces to be respected and feared: everyone present knew Kruash, Rheiserrst, Teraphstha, Gherlaistts, Ewarerfise, and Safajae, at least by name and reputation. When orders came from them, they would be followed by any other dragon.
There were six Dragon Lords, loosely separated by geographic region, and each were expected to know most if not all of the individual Children of the Sky residing in their areas, sometimes resolving disputes but most importantly-if need be- to rally together a host of wyrms to fight, whether defending that area against a dangerous intrusion or on the command of the Jutrstra herself.
Residing in the Southern Ranges of Nalbin, Mera fell under the authority of Kruash, Lord of the Southern Ranges, a massive red dragon known for his no-nonsense approach and aggression against intruding gryphons and rocs. As tended to be the case for most wyrms, the bronze dragon had never actually met his commander, but soon after moving to Mount Rubinox he had quickly learned of his lord’s scent and knew that his Dragon Lord was aware of his presence. The Lord of the Southern Ranges remained aloof during the chaos of the Stanton Incident, as the whole kerfuffle involving a single feral dragon ultimately was minor in comparison to any real threats the Children of the Sky faced in the mountains, and humans Kraush tended to distrust and avoid. This suited Mera just fine, as the dangers related to interacting with such a powerful dragon, even that of his commander, was probably equally high if not more to that of say a hundred hunters or an entire human town or a satrap’s army or a contingent of knights.
In truth, the bronze slightly feared the Lord of the Southern Ranges.
Mera did not know much about Kruash except that he was one of the strongest dragons among the Children of the Sky, though he was the youngest of the Dragon Lords. Even Falknir and his sister, Hearesecha combined would likely be no match against the red wyrm. Lord Kruash could probably kill Mera easily.
As the lords moved among them, the Dragon Nation gradually sorted themselves out into their commands. The individual hosts greatly varied in size, as more dragons resided in certain areas than others. Lord Rheiserrst commanded a host of nearly a hundred dragons from the Eastern Ranges, while Lord Gherlaistts only had around two dozen dragons from the Betakinin Sound and Northern Plains. There were perhaps forty dragons in the Southern Ranges here, the bulk of, if not quite all of the wyrm residents of the area. Thus Lord Kruash went through his rank and file relatively quickly, grouping them to the Southeastern side of the Firestone.
Mera froze up as the large red dragon moved past him, then stopped, sniffing.
*You are Meratezatgh the Feral, is that right?* Lord Kruash glared.
*I am.* The bronze barely managed to squeak.
Lord Kruash nodded. *It is good that you returned to your own people. I don’t appreciate the stink of humans on you, but the Southern Ranges needs all the dragons we have left. Stick to your people, and we’ll see if that smell wears off.*
*Yes my lord.*

I'm a bit amused by "you smell like humans" being something of an insult.
The great wyrms don't think too highly of these small upstart mammals. Like a horde of rats or pigs or something.
I'm getting library of ruina vibes where no one knows the rulers of the city by name or face, but these rulers hide in the shades and are aware of everything.
Especially the part where stanton incident is mentioned.
And judging by their numbers, they could already be included in a red book?

Well to be fair, most people in the land have heard of the mysterious "Stanton Incident" that somehow involved a dragon, the River Triangle, the Satrap of Corioli, the Knights Constantine, and King John.
