Commission for roninotter on twitter, thank you very much.
I always wanted to paint a plane before, but the stars never quite aligned plus they are difficult... Well, we changed that now. And a lovely warbird which i know are many people's favourites!

makes me simply speechless. That's a perfect looking Mustang. The otter looks great too. STUNNING!
Instantly saved for future admiration, Brilliant work. Captured the early morning flightline aesthetic quite well.
Thank you, yeah the weather was super fun (and also super tricky) to figure out in this one. Wanted to get a really nice and gently chilly atmosphere just before the sun gets to warming things up. It's always such a pleasant moment.
As an old hat in various aviation related industries. All that's missing is a old stained ceramic mug from some obscure part manufacturer like Bendix, filled with drip filtered black coffee, held in that free hand gently wafting steam in the cold morning air.
But yes, My hat is off. This, and all your works are so very inspiring :}

Hah, see? That's my in depth knowledge missing. I just about get some stuff right like the kneeboard and the plane in general. But the details one only gets when having been there yourself are not quite on point :D
Don't be so hard on yourself, life is a continual journey of exposure and learning. :}
Yes, it's actually called a "kneeboard" and straps to the thigh to hold charts, checklists, and approach plates. :) These days, they often hold an iPad hehe.
Much more eloquent then I haha. Never did anything with airplanes in my life, but used something similar that you could wrap around your thigh that was water proof so when you took a knee you have a map right there
I can hear that merlin thumping away just looking at it. Love it! And ya nailed the plane so well I thought it was a legit photo in the thumbnail! Even caught how gravity tugs on the flight surfaces just so. 12/10!
https://youtu.be/ZcgZ7zCMS6I They sound so good!

Sometime soon I hope to have a Mustang of my own, though mine will be an RC version. Still the same gorgeous lines and flight characteristics!
Wonderful work as always, the lighting and atmosphere are brilliant! Reminds me a bit of a pic I have of my gal posing on the wing of another beautiful warbird, the mighty Spitfire IIb!
Thank you very much, and yeah Spitfires are fun too! Though really many of the planes from that era are pretty cool.
I'm finding it hard to breath right now... you have captured a pure image of flying beauty in the palms of your paws and have not crushed it.

you have captured the feelings perfectly Nomax, as you always do. Even better, it is a complete image, giving the view that feeling of actually being there...
Kudos!

A masterpiece, truly; In fact, I study some of your work to improve my own
Thank you very much and just make sure to not stury all the mistakes too *sweats*
This is absolutely amazing, you could easily win one of Gaijin's (War Thunder developer) art contests with something like this. Though the P51 isn't my favorite to fly it's still an amazing aircraft and really smooth flying.
My only confusion is why would the flaps and elevators be all the way down while in the hangar? The elevator is the one more confusing because the stick's neutral position would have them flush with the rest of the tail.

Thank you , I don't know enough about the systems of the plane, but in all the pictures they appeared to be down while it's turned off so i went with this.
We extend the flaps to perform a preflight inspection, and the elevator is very heavy. When the control locks are removed, it hangs low while on the ground with no airflow to keep it in line.
Holy crap! That's wallpaper material right there! And not like Desktop wallpaper, I mean, getting this printed in a office or game room kind of wallpaper! Beautiful work!
Thank you very very much! Yeah maybe it'll find it's way onto the wall of someone here or there :)
WOW! The details, textures, and shading on the P-51 Mustang is absolutely amazing!
wow, just wow. I can hear this picture, I can smell it, I can feel it with my skin.
amazing.
Thank you so much for doing this and sharing your artowrks

I didn't know you had always wanted to paint a plane! I'll keep that in mind if I ever commission you.
This turned out so cool! Planes can be really hard to get right, and you really nailed it!

Thank you very much! Yeah they can be fun to do. Metal is always pretty fun, so just having some aesthetically awesome metal tubes? Bound to be fun even if diffcult. And thank you!
Wow, that's an amazing one! I love the rendering and the light work here. You gave this piece a truly amazing ambiance !
This is a MASTERPIECE Nomax. The attention to detail of the airframe is paying respectful homage to the builders on this magnificent machine. The shine of it gives it an honoured radiance. I like the detail of the soot and oil marks from the exhaust, the rivets, the fuelling panel, . The Otter even the rubber tip where the flap would meet the root of the wing. The Otter pilot is right to bask in his reflection of flying this beauty.
The lighting really gives this scene a feeling of reverence. The hangar design and background is marvellous too.
This truly does look lifelike and should be put up for an award. You deserve to be proud of this truly stunning work Nomax. 💖⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🙌👍

Ah gosh, yes the soot and oil marks from the exhaust are always a detail i so love, wherever they occur. And the change in colour of the material around it as it heats up.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoy it!

Love love love this one! Been wanting to get more aviation related coms of my 'sona.
The somber color pallet alongside a historical war plane makes this thing just drip with a nostalgic vibe.
Thank you very much. Yeah i didn't want to lean too heavily into to not make it too cliche, but just a hint of that old photo feeling did the picture well i think.
Hot damn! This is amazing! If you ever wish to do more with planes i have a british ww2 pilot i would love to have you do a scene from out of his story. And i have a airborn ranger as well if youd like to do a scene for that!
This work is beautiful, keep it up!
This work is beautiful, keep it up!
It's how it is in like 80% of the reference photos for parked p-51s, soooo.
Its so serene. Despite being small in comparsion to the environment, the pilot looks contemplative and reserved, as if something's bothering him. Good emotion for the scene, thinking of the labours of war. The plane with its finer details of wear at the joints of the flaps and the empennage, and the condensation and oil streaks, does show its planes seen some regular use. I approve and love this piece.
