The revolving door creaked slightly as Jamie stepped out of it and into the entrance lobby. It was a large, pleasant space - full of natural light from many spacious windows and decorated with lush potted plants and an assortment of comfortable-looking furniture. Soft royalty-free music tinkled pleasantly in the background. All in all, the room made an excellent first impression and succeeded in calming Jamie down a bit.
Still, the small blue cat couldn’t help but remain nervous. It wasn’t every recent college graduate that got hired right out of school at one of the city’s biggest and most respected financial firms. Jamie considered himself very fortunate. All of his hard effort, those long hours of homework and exam study had paid off. Today was his first day and he was very excited to prove himself. But he was also acutely aware that he couldn’t afford to blow this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He really needed to make a positive first impression. Hence, the nervousness.
Jamie continued further into the lobby and approached the reception desk. Sitting behind it was the receptionist, an extremely plump crow. She seemed to be nearly overflowing her swivel chair and the large curve of her belly (which was covered by a size-too-small shirt) was pressed into the edge of the desk. The crow was staring intently at her computer monitor and absent-mindedly taking generous bites out of the donut in her feathered hand. As Jamie got closer, he couldn’t help but notice the four donut boxes stacked next to her keyboard.
Jamie arrived at the reception desk, but immediately realized that he was going to have trouble seeing over it. The blue cat had always been extremely diminutive - very short in height and extremely thin in build. He had been teased about it a lot growing up. And that was a main reason why he had developed such a strong work ethic over the years. If his body couldn’t be big, then his determination would be. Unfortunately, he still had to deal with the daily pitfalls of being so small. The reception desk came up past his eyes, which was probably why the receptionist hadn’t noticed him yet.
Standing on his tiptoes, Jamie was just barely able to see over the desk. The receptionist was still engrossed in the donut, her double chin wobbling as she worked her beak up and down. Jamie cleared his throat softly, which didn’t appear to have any impact. The crow had finished her snack and was now licking her fingers and grunting contentedly to herself. Jamie cleared his throat again, though much louder this time. The receptionist jerked slightly and spun around, finally noticing she had a visitor. She cracked a genuine (if slightly embarrassed) smile.
“Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you there, sweetie! What can I do for you?” She said, with a hint of a southern accent.
Gripping his briefcase tighter, Jamie grinned back and stated clearly, with as much confidence as he could muster. “Jamie Smith. I’m the new hire.”
The crow’s smile widened, the expression pushing up the fat on her plump cheeks. “Well, a fine welcome to you, Jamie! I’m Heather. Let me just look up where to send you and I’ll put you on your way.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” The blue cat responded courteously as Heather spun back and returned to her computer screen. The keyboard clacked loudly as her pudgy feathered fingers worked across it.
“Let’s see - Jamie, Jamie, Jamie” she mumbled to herself, her eyes scanning back and forth across the display.
“Ah, there we go!” she suddenly exclaimed, turning back to face the cat. “Hun, you’re on the twelfth floor - the Financial Assistance Team. Take the elevator up. Then down the hall and the seventh cubicle on the left.” She smiled again pleasantly.
Jamie nodded, thanked her for her help, and turned to the elevators. He couldn’t help but notice that as soon as he started walking away, Heather reached into the box next to her and pulled out a frosted eclair. The sounds of her happily chewing on the pastry followed him as he pressed the call button and waited for the elevator to arrive. As he stood there patiently, he tried not to stare at Heather. But after a few seconds, he snuck a quick glance - surprised to see that she had already finished the eclair and was enthusiastically working on yet another donut.
Fortunately, the elevator arrived at that very moment, the doors opening with a soft chime. Jamie quickly stepped inside. He was grateful that the secretary wasn’t paying attention, so engrossed in her food. He didn’t want her to notice how much he was blushing.
After a push of the number 12 button, the elevator closed and began to ascend. Jamie adjusted his grip on the briefcase, taking deep breaths to calm his nerves. Just a quick ride up a few floors and he would be officially starting his new career!
But suddenly, he felt the elevator begin to slow. Glancing up, Jamie saw that the digital display above the doors read “4.” No worries, no worries - just somebody else catching the elevator going up. A quick stop on the fourth floor and THEN on to his career! As the elevator silently came to a stop, Jamie scooted a bit closer to the back wall.
With a soft thunk, the doors slid open. And as they revealed what was on the other side, Jamie felt his attempted calming breaths catch in his throat. A pair of truly massive individuals - a deer and a goat - were standing outside the elevator. If Heather the receptionist could be described as “quite plump,” the two figures Jamie was now facing were deep into the category of “extremely fat.”
Both of them were easily as wide as they were tall. Every square inch of their forms - from the tops of their horned heads to their hooved feet - seemed to be covered in layer upon layer of soft, bloated, blubber. The orange-and-cream-colored deer was the taller of the two. And though the goat (himself furred all in white) was probably a couple inches shorter than the average fur, both were still a fair bit taller than Jamie’s diminutive stature. And really, height wasn’t the issue here. Their incredible girths gave them the overwhelming impression of largeness. They certainly took up a lot more physical space than anyone the blue cat had seen before in his life.
The goat and deer were both wearing standard office attire, not dissimilar to Jamie’s. But unlike Jamie, the other two’s outfits were very obviously in need of a significant size upgrade. Their furry bellies sagged well below knee cap height, meaning that their shirts only really covered the top halves of their stomachs - leaving the rest to hang out in the open. Speaking of their shirts, the garments really seemed to be hitting against reasonable limits. The buttons down the fronts were straining magnificently, attempting in vain to contain two pairs of plump moobs. Jamie was certain that a dozen of him could probably fit into the circumference of each of their pants - pants which looked tight against tree-trunk-thick thighs and colossal, plush rumps. Arms, legs, faces, necks, and torsos - the deer and the goat were fat, through and through.
Jamie tried not to stare, though he couldn’t stop his face from starting to get hot and red. He averted his gaze downward, which brought his attention to the myriad of snacks grasped in the pair’s pudgy hands. They were both holding an assortment of junk foods - bags of potato chips, candy bars, donuts, and soda cans. Hardly unexpected, Jamie supposed. You didn’t get to be that big without some serious caloric intake.
With slow lumbering footsteps, the obese deer and fat goat entered the elevator. They went one-and-then-the-other, as the doorway was far too narrow to accommodate their combined widths. Even so, they still barely fit; the edges of the doorframe brushing against their love handles as they stepped inside. Jamie immediately felt the elevator car sink down a couple inches. The steel support cables groaned audibly under the additional many hundreds of pounds. Jamie briefly thought about getting off on this floor. He could wait and catch another elevator - a safer and less burdened one - up to the twelfth level. But his plan was quickly shot down.
The deer and goat - now both fully past the doors - were taking up almost every square inch of room inside the elevator. Jamie found himself being squished from all sides by the fat bodies of the two others. The deer’s massive belly was pushing on him from the right. The goat’s soft gut was pushing on him from the left. The small blue cat still had enough space to breathe - and thankfully, he wasn’t prone to claustrophobia. But he didn’t have sufficient room to move around. He was completely surrounded by walls of soft, furry, blubbery skin and tight fabric. It looked like he wouldn’t be going anywhere. Admittedly, getting stuck on an elevator between two fat coworkers was not how he envisioned his first day on the job!
He heard a button being pressed and the doors thunked close. With an ominous grinding and creaking, the elevator began to ascend, though much more slowly than it had before. With a defeated sigh, Jamie relaxed his body and just allowed himself to be in the moment. What else was he supposed to do? It wasn’t like he could just say “Excuse me sirs, can you please move your fat out of the way for me?” Well, he supposed he could say that. But he didn’t want to. It was his first day and he had no desire to make a bad first impression, not even to these two tubbos. In any case, he wasn’t even sure either of them had even noticed him standing there. Unsurprising, as Jamie doubted they could see anything past the expansive curves of their guts.
Besides, it was - if he was being completely honest - downright comfortable here. The realization of that brought an even redder and hotter blush to his face. But the gentle physical pressure being exerted on him from the others’ bloated bodies was undeniably pleasant. The warm heat radiating from their soft fur was surprisingly relaxing. And their slow, rhythmic breathing seemed to be calming his nerves better than anything else had. If he was going to be spending the next few minutes in this particular situation, he might as well just roll with it. Right?
His calm introspection was interrupted by the sound of crinkling foil. Tilting his head upward, Jamie saw the deer grabbing a handful of potato chips out of the bag he was carrying. With a slow deliberate motion, the fatty shoved it all into his mouth. Loud crunching followed as he greedily chewed his snack, his multiple chins bouncing up and down in time with his working jaw. As if on cue, the goat began to eat one of the donuts clutched in his hooved fingers. Within the first bite, he managed to fit almost the entire pastry into his mouth. His cheeks bulged comically as stray crumbs dropped onto the front of his shirt. The goat grunted appreciatively as he ate, clearly enjoying the act of consumption.
The next few minutes proceeded just like that. The two fatties still hadn’t noticed Jamie’s presence, so engrossed were they in their mindless binging. The elevator was filled with a constant stream of smacks, crunches, grunts, and burps as the two obese workers stuffed their faces with snack after snack after snack. And Jamie stayed right in between them, feeling the sensation of warm, soft, bloated fur all around him. He definitely couldn’t deny it now - he was really having a nice time here. For the next sixty seconds, he closed his eyes and cleared his mind.
But then, he felt the elevator start to slow. Glancing up, he saw a “12” displayed above the door. What a coincidence! These two apparently worked on the same floor as he did. And both seemed to have exhausted their supplies of food. The amount they had brought with them could have easily kept Jamie fed for a day or two. Yet, the goat and deer had downed everything in the span of a four-minute elevator ride. Jamie couldn’t help but be impressed by this fact.
Without junk food to distract them, the pair finally seemed to be paying attention to their surroundings. The goat looked down and - with a small start of surprise - noticed Jamie squished up against his belly.
“Hey there, little guy! Didn’t see you there!” He said in a friendly tone, his fat face breaking into a pleasant grin.
The deer looked down, smiling as well. “You’re the new hire, right?” He inquired genuinely.
Jamie was now extremely aware of how much he was blushing. “Um...yes! I’m J...Jamie…”
“Nice to meet ya, Jamie! I’m Syc!” The goat said jovially.
“And I’m Plexel!” The deer added. “You’re in the same department as us - just a few cubicles over, I think.”
“We were just heading back up from the break room.” Syc chimed in.
“Yeah, you’re gonna love the break room here - they have the BEST snacks!” Plexel said, the mere mention of food seeming to only increase the joy in his smile.
“Oh! Yeah! G-great!” Jamie responded sheepishly.
The elevator doors slid open at that moment. Syc and Plexel began to slowly shift their obese frames out of the space. The floor shook as they lumbered out. Plexel went first, the deer’s wide rump filling the door frame as he squeezed himself into the hallway. Syc started to walk out as well, but paused momentarily.
“We’re probably gonna head back down in a bit to grab some more food,” the fat goat said, looking down at Jamie over the curve of his belly. “We’ll swing by your cubicle when we do. You can join us if you want!” And with that, he stepped out.
Alone now, Jamie couldn’t help but notice how empty and spacious the elevator car was. There was no doubt about it; he preferred it the other way - filled with soft, warm adipose and the sounds of heavy breathing and even heavier eating. This REALLY wasn’t the experience he had been expecting on his first day. But still, he was glad that it had happened. One heck of a first impression, huh?
Taking another deep breath, Jamie adjusted his grip on the briefcase, straightened his shirt collar, and took his first official step into the Financial Assistance Team office. He was looking forward to starting his job. But he was even more eager for Plexel and Syc to take him down to the break room. It meant another elevator ride smooshed between his two extremely, impressively, blush-inducingly fat coworkers. And besides, a small cat like him could do with bulking up a bit. A few tasty snacks sounded perfect for that!
Whatever nerves he’d had earlier this morning, Jamie was now excited and hopeful for his future. It would be a future of growth! Definitely growth for his career. But maybe for other things as well...

Good for Jamie, getting two big buddies right off the bat. I think they're gonna have fun together.
A very nicely written story, and good descriptions too! Thanks for sharing this with us. :)
