Her yellow scales were so soft. They were the color of lemons, and in the light of the fading fire, they were honey to the eye. It was like a golden river through a grassy field as it went down between her green scales.
Behind it all was the workings of a great being, one of might, flight, and flame… one whose heart beat so powerfully it could in theory crush something with its contractions. Lungs so great their breaths could pull in a lesser creature at full strength.
Against the wall of armored hide, separating him from those organic machinations keeping the being alive, was a boy. Compared to the might of who he peacefully slept with, he was like a tiny mouse in the palm of a person. Held so gently in the grasp that held the power to end his life, yet trusting it so wholeheartedly the very concept of worry or caution in such a hold was inconceivable.
Despite the surrounding warmth, a gust of cold air from the cavern's exit was enough to create a shiver in the boy, enough that it awoke him, slightly groaning.
Instincts awoke in the great being, desiring to care and protect the lesser one. Throughout the night, she had awoken several times from her slumber to smell the valley’s air, seeking threats to her precious. The senses also aroused her at the slightest activity from who she held, that way she could respond quickly to anything.
The eyes like topaz opened and the head they were embedded in raised to alert. The lingering effects of awakening from slumber diminished quickly, leaving her ready to react to any potential danger. Only she found her precious awake and just a little cold. Unlike her eyes, his still blinked slowly and repeatedly, desiring the return to sleep. The pupils in hers went from sharp ovals to gentle spheres as her head lowered and her arms covered more of the boy. His hair was rubbed by the scales of the snout, warming him in her natural breaths. “Cold, my dear?”
Upon those words, a slight smile appeared on the tiny lips as the voice was more to the weak individual than any earthly treasures. Still weighed down by sleepiness, he closed his eyes and nodded as he reached up with a hand to the snout above him.
“The nights have been getting colder,” whispered the great being. “Winter grows closer and you won’t be able to stay outside at night.” Upon finishing those words, the one who loved the boy had her tongue slither out from between her lips, curling slightly around the middle.
Showing that she was a predator.
While the prey smiled even more, holding the slimy appendage in his arms closely. The clothes he wore became wet and warm as globs of spittle flowed onto his body. Then suddenly, he fell against the yellow chest when the tongue returned to the cavity where it resides as its owner giggled in amusement.
“You sweet, delicious thing! You love it, being warm and close to me~,” she said right next to his ear, almost teasing him. Then the tongue return, running along his back, feeling to the boy that a warm blanket draped over him.
“Such a tease…” muttered the prey, hints of giggling in his tired voice while the tongue kept repeating its stroking motion. His hands felt her yellow chest and he opened his eyes, and while he looked at it, taking in every detail in the dim light, he thought to himself that he was going to be beyond that again, inside her.
Inside her…
Swallowed whole and alive…
By a dragon…
Kept safe…
“So sleepy…” whispered words broke the silence. “I ought to take you now~.” The head careful wedge itself between the boy and her chest, so now her eyes were looked into by her precious. “I love you, Jake~.”
“I love you too, Faith,” returned the boy.
After this exchange, the dragon’s tongue went forward, replacing the surface under her prey’s legs before opening her jaws and pulling it back in.
Laying flat, the boy remained unafraid as he entered the cavity. The jaws did not shut, but instead remained open and allowed the dim light to reflect off the fleshy, coated surfaces. A warm breath cast over the prey, the helpless food, with the throat’s opening. It closed, following with the tongue pushing to the palate and then back, forcing the morsel into the sealed flesh. It opened, tugging him down completely in a single contraction.
A deep sigh and a smack of the lips sounded in the cave, followed with quiet purrs of pleasure.
Meanwhile, the tight esophagus guided the morsel down to his awaited fate. It coated him thoroughly in saliva and proved gentle in its contractions. Carried him past the heart, allowing him to listen to the drums of flowing blood at the point closer than he possibly could get. Eventually, a valve opened and allowed the boy to slide into the belly of the beast.
Only it was a safe belly.
A sac just tall enough that he could sit up if he pleased, and at least twice its length. Jake was aware of the elasticity of his home, and that it could carry much more than the space he was currently given. He slid to a stop at the center of its length, lying equally curved at two sides as if in a hammock. Not bothering to move, nor wanting to, he simply laid there, basking in the warmth and humidity. It was remarkably dry in there, with no pools of fluids and simply moisture emanating from the walls.
“I feel you already falling asleep, and you shall rest well and easy~,” came Faith’s voice like an omnipresent goddess. “For I will hold you close like this until you awaken. By the next moon, we’ll head south for the winter, but I still would love to cradle you this way every night~.”
A hand stroked the stomach’s floor. “I wouldn’t mind sleeping here every night. I love it here…”
“I envy your experience Jake, and I will continue to cherish you~. Inside and out~.”

So I needed to get back into writing, especially given I still needed to finish a story I was paid to do, so I changed gears and returned to my love of these personal Jake and Faith stories. It turned out to be the solution! I've been in full writing mode today and it's made me happy!

Great work as usual Spartan!
Great work as usual Spartan!
No problem!
Also if you don’t mind me asking, what is the relationship between jake and faith? Is it that of lovers or is it one of mother and son?
Also if you don’t mind me asking, what is the relationship between jake and faith? Is it that of lovers or is it one of mother and son?
I can’t believe I hadn’t answered this, but they’re actually adoptive siblings, with Faith’s mother having adopted Jake. Still, she primarily takes care of Jake like a second mother, or that older sibling who looks after you. When it comes to these two, Faith’s pretty much Jake’s mom, sister, and their relationship kinda has it like she’s his girlfriend
A guardian and a predator. A charge and a prey. The existence of both sides and lines between them being blurred is illustrated in this work wonderfully. Hope you continue to write. Its inspirational.
What’s inspirational is your comment! Thank you for such kind words!
Your welcome i suppose. Looking forward tk your next story ^^
I adore the belittling perspective of Jake, on how small he is compared to Faith, and how much care she gives to him.
