- There's no better day to sit and watch the sun set, than a day spent in the cool shade of the ageless forest. A day spent gathering like the squirrel, and not hunting like the lynx. A day when you can sit and let your hair down without your heart pounding in your chest, as a deer aims its deadly antlers at you. It had been a day of plenty, too: Rich mushrooms for morning stew, succulent juniper berries to dry for winter snacks, crunchy hazelnuts to snack on throguh the day, and earthy roots to chop up and eat with a hearty haunch of roasted meat. Now, if only he could find some soothing herbs to stuff into his boots, to tend his sore feet. -
An beautiful YCH from Old-World-Bird on FA, I'm grateful for them tackling Sakara and giving him a nice tunic. Finally, someone brave enough to cover that bare chest, you must be thinking. Go check out Old-World-Bird's gallery, their work is very unique and worth a look.
On a seperate note... While I write a lot about Sakara's exploits as a hunter, we must remember that much of the life of somebody in his boots was spent gathering, not hunting. I'm by no means an expert so please go follow something like the Archeology Podcast Network for the words of professionals. From what I understand, hunting was likely a bi-weekly activity, and treated more like how we today might treat a night out. A chance to meet friends from other tribes you haven't seen in a while, to be social and catch up on the goings-on in the world outside your camp. With the added bonus of bagging a couple of deer for the next couple weeks.
Never seemed like bad living, but then... I can barely cook soup without burning myself, I wouldn't last five minutes if I had to catch my own food.
Anyway, there's a few more bits coming soon, so be excited for those. They would have been up months ago, but Covid may have gotten into my system and now I'm quite behind schedule.
Thanks again to Old-World-Bird for letting me bid on this YCH. It's really pretty and your hard work on it is immensley appreciated.

What an incredible mixture of light blending into dark. The lines of gradient hues cast upon the mountains and trees really capture the perspective of how one would observe the serenity that golden hour brings
Yeah, Old-World-Bird's work is incredible and unique. If ever one day I got published and had the budget to pick anyone to do the cover, I'd pick them without a second thought. It's the perfect style for that kind of stuff.
