Linework by tato , colors and shading by me.
My last set of sketches I got from Tato in mid-February 2021. It was nice having some coloring pages to complete over the weekend. ^..^
These are a series of six pictures all depicting the aftereffects of Tacki and Tato playing together with limited adult supervision and a big box of army costumes (not to mention plastic swords, toys, bean bags, water balloons, and a garden hose or two.)
Visual Description
Tacki versus Boar Tato in the bathroom. Tacki is dressed in an old blue and red navy captain's uniform, complete with bicorne hat. With a plastic cutlass, he is charging a swashbuckling boar Tato who is gripping the shower curtain of the bath tub while standing on it's edge, using it as high ground. Boar Tato is dressed as a pirate with a green bandana, green cloth trainers, and a yellow and green striped sash. He is armed with a wooden sword.
The next scene has a front image of Tacki (continued from the bathroom scene). The red dragon has a confused and embarrassed expression on his face as his pants have fallen down, revealing his diaper and showing that this round has gone to Tato.
Image 3 shows Tacki in a 1700s style uniform. It is Austrian white with dark blue turnbacks. He is wearing a black tricorner hat with a white stripe at the top. His bottom is covered in a simple, regulation white disposable diaper. Armed with colorful beanbags, the dragon is taking cover behind a trench made of couch cushions and fancy pillows. Bursting through another trench line of couch cushions is a gallant and smug Goat Tato. They have one foot resting on a large (hopefully toy) bronze cannon with silver rimmed wheels with blue spokes. Tato has a blue 1700's style uniform with white crossbelts. They have a tricorner hat as well with a white stripe. He is wearing his standard off-white trainers. The teddy bear butt sticking out of the mouth of the cannon and pointing at Tacki has the red dragon worried and frozen with indecision.
Image 4 is reminiscent of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. A victorious Tacki is standing with one foot resting on top of a defeated Goat Tato. Tacki is dressed in a cardinal red kepi hat, French blue coat with cardinal red wrists, and wearing the standard, period accurate disposable white diaper (XP). Tato is tied up on the ground by a leaky green garden house, looking annoyed. His coat is Prussian blue (slightly darker than the French blue in this picture) with red accents on the neck of the uniform. They are wearing a spiked black German pickelhaube with a bronze eagle on the front. The eagle has a cloth diaper with a pin on it. The spike of the pickelhaube has been topped with a cork. It should be noted that the leaky hose is inside a house with a greyish pink carpeted floor. Although the Prussians soundly defeated the French in this conflict, this skirmish ended in a win for Napoleon III it seems.
The fifth image shows Hyena Tato in a German uniform from World War 2. They are wearing a green stahlhelm with a standard greyish green regular army uniform. Their bottom is covered in their cloth trainers (a much better set of protective undergarments for this conflict it would seem than what Tacki had been put in). Hyena Tato has a gleeful expression with his tongue sticking out as he concentrates on a burst of sustained fire (water) from his flame thrower looking water gun. Tacki is clearly losing this round, armed only with a dinky plastic water pistol and dressed in the uniform of an American soldier. He has a standard round, green army helmet on with an "ace of spades" playing card lodged in a strap on the helmet. He has a tan US Army jacket with a darker greenish brown belt and straps. His diaper is swelling to embarrassing proportions as it takes the full force of Tato's "flamethrower."
The last scene shows the after effects of all this "play." We finally arrive in baby Vietnam, where the two boys are now haunted by the conflicts of history (mostly concerned because the stork caretaker has finally noticed what they were getting up to). The greyish pink carpeted room with baby blue walls (drawn from a 3/4ths perspective) is trashed. Water puddles are all over the carpet. A blue lamp has been smashed to bits on the floor. Couch cushions are displaced, while the couch itself is also covered in water puddles. A picture on the wall of Mamoo, Manmoo, and Herr Storich is askew. Boar Tato is dressed as a member of the North Vietnamese army though the farmer's straw hat suggests he might be dressed as one of their partisans. Tan jacket with lighter tan belts and pouches and a white cloth diaper make up his costume for this scene. Boar Tato has a curled up "yipe" expression and body language as he quickly drops an exploding water balloon on the carpet in a desperate attempt to look innocent. Tacki is again standing indecisively with his mouth agape, staring at Herr Storich with a worried expression, realizing that things may have gotten a little overboard. He is wearing a US army green uniform. Round green helmet, green BDUs and darker green straps and belts. He has numerous water balloons strapped to his belt, clearly caught red handed.
Herr Storich is just standing there with his arms crossed. He has an stern, but exasperated expression on his face. It looks like he's thinking "Really??!" He is wearing his standard crimson and gold outfit.

The steam ordering from Tato is why you don't see him drawing me anymore, despite liking his cartoon style. But you look good as the naughtiest dragon I know.
The Kiffin pics as well as these were all done in an hour and a half. Plus, if you ask they usually let others finish anything that isn't finished. It's a pretty good system for me at least, but to each their own.
I can't plan to watch the streams due to my life and timezones, neither can I see what I want and feel how long it would take... it is confusing to me, that all.
Uh-oh. Looks like Storich is not happy with your war games. And I don't think he's giving you or Tato any kind of a peace treaty either!
If I were you, I use that water balloon you have in your hand, throw it at Storich and RUN!!

Great idea! Everyone knows you can't punish a cub when you're covered in water balloon water! Brilliant!!!
Kazootles! (Stands in place with only the motion of his self-rocking as he takes in everything.) Ka-zoo-tills...

This would make for a great 'History Of Warfare' book! Perhaps have the theme being about the uniforms and how the uniform, accessories, and other nuances are what defined different countries during various known battles throughout history? The different toy weapons in place of what may have been a standard type of weapon used in such skirmishes back in the day?
War is something that has, despite casualties, managed to unite nations while advancing technology exponentially in efforts to not lose to the opposing side. Having children, like Tacki and Tato, dressing up in various time period's major battles, which get covered in future History / Social Studies classes could be a great introduction to understanding how war has played a both negative and positive part in our societal development?
Someone, like Herr Storich, could serve as the narrator while also showing us examples of what happens when things go too far? (The last panel is a fantastic example of how ongoing warfare can damage more than just the conflicting parties. The damage done to civilians, infrastructure, etc. is up there, through understandable comparison for a younger audience, having broken lamps, put holes in walls, etc. through play without knowing when enough was enough.)
Truly it would be a great introduction to important battles that will be discussed further in education, show how to enjoy using your imagination through costume play, and teach responsibility for letting play get out of control. Certainly, as a good ending to the book, Herr Storich would have the boys agree to work together to help clean up after themselves. This last point showing how, even if there is a dispute, peace can be made.

Not a bad idea. I definitely hope that the absurdity and harm from such conflicts comes through in these pics. The real stuff is scary and horrible, but still absurd as well. As much as I love the outfits and the stories of bravery, war as a concept is pretty much a blight on our species. Either we have risked everything to stop a great evil, OR we were lied to about the reasons for going to conflict and taught to believe a narrative about "fighting for freedom" and all that from the people in power.
You're right about the metaphor though. Two silly kids not thinking about the consequences of their actions and having fun engaged in "the struggle" of competition for competition's sake, not cognizant of the destruction they're causing around them and how it hurts bystanders, infrastructure, and even themselves in the long run is quite apt.

Hmmm it seems Tacki has been locked in an eternal battle with the various incarnations of Tato throughout time and space!
Or at least over the course of a rainy afternoon...
Or at least over the course of a rainy afternoon...
Indeed. Time moves swiftly when you're having fun!
It wasn’t the water balloons…it was their interpretation of the first nuclear weapon between panels.
