Upon hatching on the tropical world of Varrisang, Az'arektar had a difficult beginning to life. Being only a youngling at the time, he was tragically left an orphan after his village had been burned down and his parents killed during a vicious war between his clan and another. With no choice but to flee, he hid away and was left to fend for himself alone in the dangerous wilderness. Until by a lucky chance he was rescued from danger and taken under the wing of a kindly Dragoness passing by. Whom of which took care of him and made sure to raise him as much as she could the way his kind did, teaching him what she could and stayed with him undisturbed in the mountains. Until he reached the age in which he was safe to go out on his own and the two soon separated. Az'arektar re-entering Varrisanguan society on his own, in his adolescence. Just as the planet was going through a period of great technological revolution and innovation, and societal change. As contact with the normally secluded race from the outside had increased. Trading posts were established, factories were built and a greater distance of travel was now for the first time possible.
Struggling to adjust at first, but soon adapting to a world that was rapidly changing around him. Az'arektar settled within a quaint small fishing village on the bank of a great lake, hoping to learn the trade and make a living there. Living there for a short time, when once again another major event befell him and the planet.
From out of the blue several great ships had approached the atmosphere and made contact with all the Elders of every clan in every region. This mysterious race proclaiming themselves as great protectors, bringers of justice and defenders of order, and were attracted by the toughness of the race. Requesting an assistance in building a peacekeeping force to police the galaxy, beyond, and be there to answer the call to anyone should they be in need.
Though they were denied at first. Through further meetings and gestures of goodwill, the Elders brushed aside their differences and came together to discuss and then eventually accept the offer. Encouraging their kin to volunteer, whilst they themselves leant their wisdom to these beings to help form the foundations of this order.
Having seen enough senseless violence, and hearing of it through the tales his foster mother and village folk told. Az'arektar approached this growing order and offered his services, in the desire to bring similar suffering and sorrow to an end. Finding himself being accepted into it's ranks fairly quickly and put through a long, rigorous and difficult training program. Learning to use the weapons that these beings were supplying his kin, to use their tactics and to further strengthen his mind and body in preparation for combat. Whilst those that had already completed their training, were being deployed to several different worlds in which were in a state of chaos and desperately needed help to restore order. These interventions ultimately ending in success and serving as a massive boost in morale, as well as earning the respect of other races that witnessed these events.
By the time Az'arektar entered active service the order, or "The Skyguard" as he and his kin called them in their own language. Had further grown in power and had started to take in more volunteers from other races from all around. Including Dragons, whom Az'arektar had a fondness for and found easy to befriend along on his deployment to wherever they were needed. Finding himself soon being rewarded for his efforts by the promotion to Captain one day. Leading a unit of his own, helping to remove tyrants from power, eliminating piracy, criminal syndicates and more. Winning much respect from those around him, and fame as a part of the Skyguard.
But sadly with every rise there is a fall, and reaching the very height of it's power and in numbers. The Skyguard began to fall apart as arguments broke out over morality. Some deserted, some even turned rogue and abused their power to forcefully take what they wanted. This caused chaos to break out among the ranks, and for some races to entirely to cease their support and withdraw those of their kind in disgust. Soon enough the stories of in fighting among the Skyguard and the despicable actions of some of it's members, had reached the ears of a grand galactic council. Who soon demanded that the order disband and hand over all it's assets. To which the beings responsible for administrating the Skyguard complied and began the process. Then suddenly without explanation vanishing mysteriously as quickly as they appeared.
Even Az'arektar himself wasn't safe from the chaos and found himself mistakenly accused of a grievous crime. Placed on a transport ship set to return him to Varrisang for punishment, and with no way to convince his accusers of his innocence. So instead broke out of his imprisonment, stole back his equipment, an on board fighter ship and took off before interceptors could be called in to pursue.
Flying as fast and as far he could he possibly could, on the last trickle of fuel he ditched the ship upon the surface of a distant habituated planet. Laying low and hiding amongst the natives for a time, before stowing away aboard on a cargo ship destined to another planet. On which he made a permanent home, using his previous military experience to join a travelling band of armed vigilantes. In secret carrying out acts of sabotage, infiltration and sometimes full blown assaults against much of the same shady characters he had been used to fighting for a long time.
