Our fellow seagull was feeling a bit self-conscious about his recent increase in width and girth. So, being a former athlete, he figured that, just like in the good old days after an off season, it would take a quick jog along the coast to burn all the excess flab.
Besides being oblivious about his tanking metabolism, his out of shape body, and his ill-fitting attire (among others), he didn't realize that within the first few meters, he would stumble across a good ol' pal from his youth, who seemed pretty enthusiastic about meeting once again. And perhaps a bit too friendly with those talons...
But still, he had a rock-solid argument. These chance encounters don't happen all that often so his well-intentioned will to exercise was promptly subverted by the allure of the chatty parrot and the promise of a cold, thick, sweet milkshake in the shake shack by the shore (say that three times fast).
Let's not fool ourselves. That jogging session was less impervious than a sandcastle during high tide.

I wanted something to commemorate furrytailgal's birthday on Feb 24th, and searching through my physical sketchbook, I found this as a good seed to work with.
This idea started as a random traditional sketch that I made last year in an attempt to sate my cravings for round birds of all sorts. Ever since dino.d.dice created a parrot version of furrytailgal (which you can see right HERE) I knew there was no chance I would resist drawing such a pretty parrot!
Plus, right around the same time, I was still thinking about that ex-jock gull that indigorho implanted in my brain quite a while ago. So I just concentrated and distilled the two massive birds together into a single image and this was the result.
It strikes me as a nice testament of how ideas flow and evolve in the community, and how collaboration and exchange is greatly promoted. I love that about furries. I can tell you that it is way more functional than most of the team projects I had to deal with in high school/college!
Anyway... enough with my ramblings.
