American Mustelid Alpha - Episode 10, "The Gauntlet Of The Century", Part 1
Ep 9, Part 2 || Archives || Ep 10, Part 2
So this is what we've all been waiting for... the very culmination of this journey. More than forty mustelids tried, but only two remain to face the Gauntlet of the Century. The tension between both is the highest it's ever been, and it's gonna span over 36 hours of challenges, surprises and wild twists. Who can conquer the six points needed to claim the title of American Mustelid Alpha?
The second part of "The Gauntlet Of The Century", and the WINNER REVEAL will be out on Sunday, March 7th!
American Mustelid Alpha is the brainchild of HeadQuarters (the joint project of qovapryi and harlow). All mentioned characters belong to them both.

That "surprise" factor in part 3 of the gauntlet really should throw everyone in a loop... Ludwig didn't specify exactly when the results would be revealed, did he? I'm thinking after the gauntlet portion, but it might as well be after the jury portion.
Also I want that live studio audience in the finale

I lost interest in the story once the jury angle was revealed as it doesn't matter what happens in the Gauntlet itself; the other player can mathematically win on just votes alone, so the story has turned into a glorified popularity contest between two anthros that I don't even like. One is a bland badger and the other is a deceitful otter, so neither is very appealing to me.
I only plan on glancing at the finale for part 2's ending to see who won and how [whether by votes, skill, or both).
And sure, Alpha-ness also depends on sound leadership skills and others liking you enough to follow your orders, however, it isn't like I can walk up to my boss at work and say No one likes you; resign immediately.
They'd just laugh at me, say no, then fire me and anyone else who wanted them gone and start over with more 'loyal' subordinates.
So the whole voting angle is a bit unrealistic to me. This isn't the South Park episode where I have to choose between a douche and turd; I can simply not participate at all.

First off, no it is impossible for any player to win the Gauntlet without taking home at least one challenge (5/11 points are decided by jury, 6/11 by the challenges' results). Is it a popularity contest? To some degree yeah, but you got to remember that you can't have an Alpha if there aren't enough "betas" (and I use this term very loosely here) who will agree to his "command" and recognize him as such.
We've been saying over and over that our brand of Alpha doesn't translate in being an asshole for no reason, but someone who can dominate every facet of life and getting recognized by his own peers as he does that. If your boss warrants his subordinates to ask him to resign because they don't like him, well, probably he ain't a real Alpha :|
It is unfortunate that you ended up disliking the two remaining mustelids - although in these shows, it can definitely happen and I tell ya some of the exits blindsided us both as writers - but I promise you the last installment will provide enough entertainment and twists to keep you interested. Thanks a lot for the feedback, we'll definitely take it into consideration for our future work!

Holy crrrrap! Those challenges man...
Any normal person would've keeled over with 10 heart attacks or a sunstroke from the very first one!
Those guys are beasts!!
But the bomb challenge was good for a few laughs, actually, especially at Kenneth's expense. XP

Lucky for them that challenge 3 was there to cool them down, hehehe.
The bomb was a fairly fun one to write and a different angle to prove the observation and smarts of these guys, glad it translated across :)
