was in the mood for some mid 90s hard trance stuff
fuckin sample rompler choirs out the ass lol
very inspired by airtribe - sunflower and rmb - experience
would probably sound better if you sped it up by a few percent
(indirectly another tribute to gary d (rip))

God DAMN bro
I'm curious, how do you make the samples feel so 90s? I've been trying to get that kind of sound for a while now but I'm dumb, even with dists and saturators I can't quite get it right

I'm mostly curious about the kick and the bass/synth, but everything in general has a very realistic 90s vibe. Even the breakbeat fits perfectly, but I'm guessing that's more of a lucky sample find. It really sounds like it came out of a vinyl record!
uuuuuuuh well the kick is pretty basic. it's just a plain regular old 909 kick put through various stages of mild saturation and eq, and finally resampled and put into a sampler with a low pass filter envelope to soften up the tail of the kick. i could go into a lot more specifics if you want lol.
anyways, as for the bass. the main part of the bass is a pretty simple synth1 patch (i use synth1 for like 75% of all my synths) that's a pulse wave with a saw tuned up to +19 semitones put through a low pass filter with a high resonance and finally saturated. the secondary bass is from PG-8X (another cool free vst that's modeled after the JX-8P, an old roland synth from 85) that's two saws an octave apart with the mode set to mono2 (detunes all available voices) and the onboard chorus turned on.
that's about it for the kick and bass, dunno if that's very helpful but in general i just try to keep things simple and not over process sounds, also just experimenting and listening to a lot of music from whatever time period i want to imitate.
one of the breakbeats is a break from x-static goldmine 1 that's pitched up a ton, the other one is a break from AMG megabass remix! 1. use https://archive.org/download/90ssamplecds for all your 90's sample cd needs. most other sounds are either from the korg m1 vst or the roland jv-1080 vst. gotta have sample romplers for proper 90's cheese
dunno if any of this was helpful, never tried to explain music stuff to someone before lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
