"sacramento van life" is an 11"x14", hand-pulled, two-block linocut on strathmore 300 paper with an oil-based ink. it's probably my most involved print to date, using techniques i learned in printmaking, art new media, character design, and typography.
it’s a political piece about how sacramento gentrification impoverishes local students, critiquing influencers exploiting this tendency, and the tragic mismanagement of this area's resources towards regressive, liberal-capitalist ends (aka the new arena).
i learned a lot more about linocut printmaking than i used to know, in particular that construction linoleum works just fine, and to always draw out all details in the drawing /before/ the transfer (instead of making it up as i go).
i just finished hand-pulling the first four, but the rest will be run through a press in the next week or so. there will be a total of about 20 prints for sale in this run. the price for each is $100, and as always, 10% of the purchase of my work goes towards local leftist community organizations.
the piece was originally going to be for shara mercado-poole's "art & politics inside capitalism" print exchange, but i kept finding i had more to say and the piece kept getting more complex until i ran out of time. still, i highly recommend visiting her gallery of submissions: https://www.sharamercadopoole.com/artandcapitalism
it feels good to finally finish an in-depth piece during the pandemic.

proof that i do, in fact, actually create furry art! :3
Your lines are so satisfying in this. Wonderful weight in the foreground, and that railing has given me a perspective boner.
