I have not done one of these in a while. Probably because I am done with the franchise: at least the USA version. What intrigued me about the franchise was how it almost felt like a love letter to the furry fandom with the concept of celebrities dressing up as animals. It no longer has that appeal, as it feels like Fox network is actively trying to make sure that the most human costumes win. The Russian dolls this season are very creepy looking and they have the best singers in the competition. Meanwhile, the snail and the Phoenix costume were amazing, and they were taken by really awful singers. Okay this snail wasn't that bad, but still. Needless to say, the one thing I watched this show for is something I can no longer watch this show for.
But I did want to try and start up my own little fan contest again, so I decided to draw one of the costumes I plan on drawing. This one is kind of a spin-off of the dragon from season 4, but it's a baby dragon. I just decided to call it the whelp instead of the baby dragon cuz I thought it was more creative.

The irony: I have been getting interested in The Masked Singer because of the animal costumes!
...I never watched an episode, though. I just kee putting off the series.

I legitimentally think that there were non-animal costumes in other countries? Also, it's not always about animal costumes winning. Sometimes it's just about, y'know, having fun.
I also do not think that there is any rigging involved. It's just the way people vote. Maybe people voted that contestant becuase of their voice.

You know, I could understand season 3 being won by the most human costume in the competition. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Season 4 being won by the most human costume, however, is suspicious and honestly does make me feel like Fox Network just hates furries and their rigging the contest just to insult furries. But THREE SEASONS IN A ROW!? I'm calling it right now: the Russian dolls are absolutely going to win season 5. They are the best singers in the competition, and it honestly feels like that's because Fox network made it that way, again, just to give a big "y*** in hell, furf***!" to furry viewers. All I know is that I am having none of that. I refuse to watch the USA version of this show any further if this is true.
Honestly, it's still bad in other countries. Season 3 in Germany felt like another "f*** you" to furries when the winner and ONLY good singer was also the ONLY human costume, but it almost felt like other people took offense too, because they didn't have any human costumes in season 4. Masked Singer Spain was even worse because not only did the ONLY human costume win, but it had even more competitors. Call me strange, but I cannot see these as just coincidences. They honestly do feel like producers are just trying to insult furries.
You can have it human costumes, but when it's your only human cast home and it beats out animal costumes, then I'm going to be suspicious. It might be why season 1 of Germany didn't offend me that much because the astronaut wasn't the only human costume. It offended me that the dude was a one-trick pony that only did ballads and nothing else, but him having a human costume was mitigated by other contestants having human costumes, specifically the Angel and the octopus which I count as human because it has a human face.

Honestly, the animal costumes are what drew me into the franchise. They are always my favorite except for the monster costumes, and they're the ones I have most fun watching. Even when it's not a human costume that ends up winning, I tend to have less fun watching the show when it's not my favorite costumes that are kicking butt. I haven't really watched much of season 2 singer Mexico (if it's even available. I'm almost wondering if it will get a USA release because the first season did) because of the costume that won. It wasn't a human costume, but it wasn't an animal or monster costume either. Instead, it was Mac Tonight's full moon form. Since that wasn't a costume I particularly enjoyed watching, it kind of made me less interested in watching that season. Meanwhile, I watched most of the first season on television because I like the costume that won, and that was considering I already knew who had won, but I still watched it on television.
Like this or not, furries are a small part of the world. I do not hink tha they are deliberately bypassing furries, though I can understand the frustration, me being furry, myself. Most people just do not latch specifically to the animal costumes the way we do.
Honestly, my problem is that it feels like people act like furry discrimination doesn't exist or isn't that big a deal, so a lot of stuff like that is just allowed because people think we are a minority.
One day, I really hope there will be a show that has a furry protagonist in it. Bob's Burgers already has a necrophiliac as one of its main characters, why can't there be a show with a furry in it?

...
...furries are just fans of cartoon animals. That is not comparative to, say, being a Latino. /is actually one/

It still doesn't change the fact that discrimination towards us is common and treated as a joke. Regardless of how comparable it is to racism or being prejudiced against someone's sexual orientation, I still believe that discrimination towards furries is not taken seriously enough.
Honestly, I've had to deal with it for about a decade and a half.

If anything, I was wrong to assume Russian Dolls would win. Booted last night.
