-UTO- [ Back to Basics] -
A new batch of recruits would begin their training in the UTO soon. Many humans weren't fond of how off the scales were. Having the aliens hunderds of times bigger then them only seemed to ingrain the notion they were just a peck in this vast universe of stars.
Many were nervous about signing up for a four year service plan. Humans and some aliens had their doubts about this but many had confidence and hate for a common enemy. Many or most to all humans standing in the room were thoses who had been and surivived the Raynar invasion destined for revenge. Humans were also very new to the UTO only being part of it for three months so far. But many were hardened by that invasion. Most humans had joined as previous soldiers to part take in the integration program. Even this was still very exprimental.
Eric Shepard was just one of the few civilians who had enough military training to qualify for this program. He'd seen many giant aliens all kind similar to earth animals anthropic with bodies, legs and arms. But them being huge in size didn't help him relax or calm down. His mind kept going off seeing one alien like lizard making those dark days flash back to haunt him again. Eric breathed not letting his past get into the way of a great future. There were others around like him also humans wearing uniforms or something like that. He wore an old green pair of fauitges with its faded camoflaged pattern but he still was nervous. He still felt like he stuck out. Then the program's head came into the room with something held in her hands from what he could tell.
She had told a speech but what held in this mind from that moment was what happened next. She showed a human soldier in her palm. The demonstration was her putting him into her mouth. Such a sight caused Eric to lividly remember a Raynar doing that once, but this human came out of her mouth cover in saliva. The show was incredible and terrifying to the crowd of new recruits there. Eric felt like he was going to nearly faint. The human soldier started his speech, Eric remembered the speech and his rank of Sargent but not the guy's name. Then those words started the frenzy of humans moving around.
"...So, please allow the new human recruits to walk onto your palm if their interested." The Sargent said then staying slient. Now to find a partner. It felt like high school all over again for Eric. He panicked not knowing who to pick or where to going. Slowly less humans were on the floor yet a few remaining seemed to be trying. One guy got paired with a white wolf alien as Eric tried to find someone. All prey like animals seemed to be picked as he looked hoping a lizard wouldn't be his partner.
A black wolf seemed to be having the same issue not finding a partner yet. He sighed knowing a giant wolf was better then a lizard any day. So this wolf would be his reluctant partner. He walked onto her palm sitting down as she lifted him up againist her stomach. She was smiling happy to have a partner at last. He was more nervous of her muzzle being so large.
"Now that it looks likes everyone has a partner, introduce yourselves!" The sargent said laughing knowing how awkard it would be for most there. He lit a cigarette taking a heavy drag of it puffing out a little cloud of smoke.
Eric was still trying to find his words so the wolf started first.
"Hello, I'm Shara." Shara said it quietly not wanting to hurt the little guy's ears. He seemed flustered likely due to size.
"..Uh well I'm..Um Eric." He stammered nervously feeling like a freshmen all over again. She giggled a little seeing him relax a bit while he took a deep breath.
"No need to be nervous or anything. I don't bite Eric." She joked, that seemed to cause him to tense up. Shara noted not to use that one or any joke like it till later. She didn't like such a negitive reaction to it or his stillness.
"I'm joking you know? Just wanted to be clear on that." Shara didn't want her soon to be Charge scared on the first day. Eric relaxed trying to not think of the invasion days and what happened then. He was safe in her hands, or were they paws? He deiced Hands most likely.
"Sorry I'm just sort of processing a lot of things right now. So... Uh... do you wanted ti tell me about yourself?" He thought honesty was the best policy if they're going to be together for a while.
She grinned while hiding her fangs to be safe.
"Oh well... I'm a Lupine , very close to what you humans call a wolf. I guess a human like you has been thought a lot. Sorry about that joke I made. I'm not usually this awkard." She blushed thanking the stars for her fur that hid it from such a cute little guy like him. She couldn't understand why the Raynar were so cruel to them, they were just cute to her.
Eric for the first time in months did some else, he full heartly laughed. He really shouldn't have but knowing awkwardness wasn't just a human thing after all.
"I'm a human obviously. Knew you were joking, just not handling all this change too well I guess." Eric wanted to asked something but was unsure of how to go about it.
"Could I pet your fur?I'm just curious if it's really as soft as it looks." He pushed his words out fast lacking courage. His blush of embarrassment was completely visable for her to see. She couldn't believe how adorable his blushing was to her. Shara was flattered by how he thought her fur was soft even wanting to pet it.
"Go right ahead. I'm flattered you like my fur." Shara gave him full agreement to let him scratch her fur. Eric went straight to scratching her neck fur. She started to close her eyes in pure enjoyment loving his little touches. Then the program head cleared her throat to get everyone's attention. Shara moved Eric back down againist her stomach. Eric could help but look up smiling with her.
"Now that both of you all are to become Guardian and Charge though the UTO's integration program, only the best are here. But if you want to leave you always can by going to the offices." She still had more to said. "All of you shall go to the barracks and help each other settle into your bunks that shall service you for this program and perhaps beyond it. All of you are dissmissed!" She ened the gathering as everyone started towards the barracks. These barrack were just grey boxes of something like concrete made for the soul purpose of housing soldiers.
Shara couldn't wait to introduce him to her friends and the tour of their barracks.
"So, how about I give you the tour of your new barracks Eric?" Said looking down at him. Eric once again smiled.
"That sounds great Shara. Got any friends your going to introduce me to?" He had known he'd have to get out og his comfort zone sometime.
"Yeah but I'll let you get settled before then." She a little surpised by his boost of confidence. But they both needed a long rest after today. The two walked in or more accuately she carried him inside the barracks. Eric and Shara had made a leap of progress in a few hours. Maybe he could leave those dark times as nothing more then the past. He'd finally get to sleep but the nightmares were always there to remind him. Chicago would forever haunt his mind. That fall was something that also scared him awake, always did.
