In January of this year, three jaguars (Mariu and her cubs Porã and Karai) were released into Gran Iberá Park in northeastern Argentina as part of an ongoing rewilding campaign. Jaguars have been absent from the Iberá wetlands for 70 years. They now join animals such as pampas deer, giant anteaters, and red-and-green macaws in returning Gran Iberá to a healthier and more abundant ecosystem.
