A commission completed for Sohjin, of his character. He jumped upon me like a wild beast when I finished my last one, and threatened me at gunpoint (and at the point of a detailed, albeit extraneous description) to take his money and make a picture. So I did.

What he didn't expect was for me to use the whole description in making the image. I'm a concept artist, I'm not about to just blow off a whole half a concept because "it's hard!" When I showed him the original sketch for the armor, he was blown away or somesuch. I was mostly exhausted with attempting an armored suit, which I hadn't done before in any real seriousness, and the text on IRC was too blurry for me to really make out. But I could tell he liked it, so on I went into color!

Sohjin was great to work with, gave me free reign and was upbeat about every in-progress update I showed him. Some pieces really challenge you and test your limits. I like being outside my safe little comfort zone on such big pieces sometimes, it forces me to adapt and learn, lest I fail in a gloriously explosive way. I could've done better on this piece, I'm sure, but I think I went far enough to satisfy both my client and myself.
