Pride Month 2021 Spongebob Squarepants
ok so I admittedly didn't write out a list of characters to draw for Pride Month, I had a few characters in mind, but overall the characters drawn would be improvised, though one character I didn't expect to draw is Spongebob Squarepants from the popular long-running cartoon of the same name, but yeah, Spongebob was confirmed to be asexual by his creator Stephen Hillenburg. For years some of us thought that Spongebob was gay while others thought that he was straight, though it turned out that both sides were wrong, and I can't say that writing wasn't on the wall, after all Spongebob has been on the air for 20+ years and he's never had a crush or love interest without it being a joke, like when he married Sandy for a play or spent an episode lusting over a krabby patty (this show is weird... though accurate in some ways since real sea sponges are asexual, I often forget that Stephen was a marine biologist before he made the show). Though in all seriousness, I do think that Spongebob is a positive representation of asexuality, he's always so positive and happy without ever needing a romantic partner and instead he can find an equal amount of satisfaction from simply hanging out with his friends. Even though I stopped watching Spongebob a while ago, I'll always like this character, for as unlikable as the characters of the show have been written as nowadays, Spongebob is more often than naught still his caring positive self, which I think is why he's so iconic despite a number of people finding him annoying.
