Darkness loomed over the room as Michael stirred fro his slumber. The silence of the night made him smile as the warmth of the large bed wrapped itself around his fur. The bed seemed to cradle his every contour as he stared into the darkness. Stillness filled the night air as the nearly silent radio played the time.
Three-thirteen.
Last he had seen the clocks face it read midnight, after that he couldnt remember much. The room was not his own, but the softness of the linens on the bed took him back to his small town home, along with the anxieties of the long wait before this moment had come. His heart had been yearning for this moment, the moment when he would be laying in this bed, hearing this soothing song in his ears, and feeling the weight in the bed next to him.
Michael looked over to see the whiteness that just barely was peaking out of the covers. The canines muzzle, eyes, and ears were the only thing that where visible from under the mass of blankets. He just looked down at the canine, contemplating the night they had shared together, the laughs they had shared, the tears he had cried. He couldnt help his mind from straying to the future though. To the thoughts of a home with this canine, a life, a new future. A smile slowly took over his usually dull muzzle as tears lulled up in his eyes. The words of the songs on the radio seemed to form a ribbon from the radio, into his ears, and into his heart. The love song tore at his heart strings as a tear slowly rolled down his cheek.
He gently scooted out from under the blankets and sat on the side of the bed, his back turned to the canine as he gently sang along with the song, being sure not to wake the sleeping angel. His voice was not that of despair, but one of mixed emotions. He was feeling sad that he didnt know when the next time he would see this magnificent creature would be, but he was also overwhelmed with joy that he was with the canine for now, at least he could make the best of this moment they shared.
Michael rose from the large bed and walked to the window on the right side of the room and slowly opened the darkening blinds. Silver moonlight shone softly through the window, silhouetting the canines shadow as he looked out over the forest. He had requested this room for that one reason. So they could enjoy their time together with the moonlight cascading upon them. But now the stillness of the room filled him as he softly hummed a melody to himself.
After a few moments of staring into the moon and its celestial neighbors, the canine made his way into the small bathroom. He didnt bother turning on the lights for fear of waking his sleeping companion from blissful slumber. He looked through the dim light at himself in the mirror before reaching down and slowly turning on the water. His navy blue fur barely could be seen in the night, unlike his white counterpart. He had the usual white stomach that all his breed shared. The white on the tip of his tail and on the tip of his left ear where the only other pieces of his bare fur that showed itself in the darkness.
His body wasnt the type that most people would stop in awe at. He had a little bit of a gut but he wasnt fat by no means, just a little bigger than normal. He still couldnt wrap his head around how someone so beautiful as the creature sleeping in his bed, could even give him a second look, let a lone a chance for a relationship. Bending down, he splashed water up on his face, waking himself up slightly before looking back at himself in the mirror. His mind and heat kept telling him, every moment he shared with the white angel not to mess anything up. He wanted this moment to work so badly that he almost wasnt himself at times.
The husky turned the water off and slowly walked back into the main area of the hotel room. His eyes slowly adjusted to the dimmer lighting of the main room. Silver beams of moonlight cascaded onto the bed as the male traced his eyes across their path and onto the sheets. He smiled as he laid his eyes on the beautiful angel. The canine had worked his way out from under the blankets and was now sprawled out on the bed. The husky gazed in awe at the male wolfs body as it seemed to glow in the light. The moonlight seemed to wrap the wolf in its arms, causing his snow white fur to glow in the darkness.
Michael smiled at the wolf and walked back to the bed, climbing in it slowly, still trying to not wake the slumbering creature. As he laid his head back on the pillow, he felt a muzzle press itself softly against his. Michael smiled as he murred softly at the kiss, looking down into the sleepy eyes of the wolf.
What- whats wrong Michael?
The husky smiled as he gently ran his paw through the wolfs back fur resulting in a soft purr from the canine.
Nothings wrong Jason. I just needed a drink.
The wolf nodded and laid his head on the huskys chest, listening to the larger canines heart as it softly beat. The night was calm as the two canines laid in each others arms, the radio softly playing love songs that tugged at both of their hearts. Michael softly began to sing his own lines to the melody that was softly filling the room with loving music.
I see the question in your eyes I know whats weighing on you mind.. But you can be sure I know my part Cause I stand beside you through the yearsYoull only cry those happy tears And though I make mistakes, Ill never break your heart
The husky softly looked down at the wolf and continues singing, his soft voice softly lulling away the troubles of the wolf.
I swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky.Ill be there. I swear, like the shadow thats by your side.. Ill be there.
The wolf looked up at the husky, his eyes watering up slowly as his gaze met the larger males.
Michael..
Yes Jason?
Dont ever leave.
The husky smiled and wiped the tears from the wolfs eyes and ran his paw through his hair. His own eyes tearing up as he kissed the wolfs muzzle softly, the moonlight shimmering through the small pools under each eye as the husky just stared at the white wolf, his heart in his throat, keeping him from uttering a word. Those where the words he had wanted to hear since the day he had met the wolf, since the first time he had heard his voice, and saw his angelic face.
For those few moments, the entire world had seemed to slow to a stop, leaving just the two males alone in that hotel room the only members of all existence. Michael couldnt tell if this was a dream or was reality, he had dreamed of this moment for so long and now that it was there was only one thing that kept his mind from thinking this wasnt real; the lump that choked his words in his throat. It was the only thing that kept him from bursting into tears, the only thing keeping him tethered to this moment in time.
Gulping the bulge down, he managed to find words to express his feelings to the wolf, words that would make this moment last for eternity in both their lives.
Jason, I swear, I will never leave.
Jason smiled and slowly leaned up and pressed his muzzle against the huskys. The fur on both of the canines necks stood on end as a spark jolted between the two connected muzzles. Like a bolt of lightning, this one small spark, lit a fire in the two canines hearts as there eyes both gently began to close, song on the radio softly giving way to the next one in line.
The kiss seemed to go on for an eternity, and yet at the same time, it ended way to suddenly for both parties. Their muzzles slowly departed as a small strand of saliva showed the remnants of the kiss, a small bubble on the strand glistened in the moonlight as time stood still around the two once again. No words were said between them, neither did any have to be said for them to understand exactly what the other one was thinking.
Michael pulled the wolf into his chest, his arms covering half the smaller wolfs back as he hugged him tight, his muzzle whispering into his ears as he closed his eyes, his every word tethering his heart onto a string through the air, whether or not it fell depended on the wolfs reaction.
Jason, this isnt easy for me to tell you all this, but I have felt this way ever since we met.
The wolf mewed softly and looked up at the lager male, his eyes shining softly as he smiled softly.
WellJason, ever since Ive met you, I waited for this moment. The moment when I could hold you in my arms and brush your fur with my paw softly. The moment I could look into those beautiful green eyes and tell you
Jason looked up at the husky, his green eyes glistening softly in the silver beams of moonlight. What is it Michael?
The husky sighed softly and looked up at the ceiling for a minute. His future depended on the reaction to this moment, whatever the wolf said in response would either break the husky or make him the happiest man on the world. Michael slowly looked down to the wolf in his arms.
I..I love you Jason.
