Concepts for Arpegean Culture
Just as the title, I decided to make some concepts for some cultural items one would find in Arpegea. As I finally have time to work on those stories again, I can start to expand a little bit before then about what Arpegea is like, or at least some of the more pious parts of it. Anyway, here's some flavor-text:
Lordly Visage: An architectural staple in many large Arpegean churches, this simplistic carving is based on the appearance of Lord Vydryss described in visions or journal entries. While more intricate variations on the "Lordly Visage" exist, a few places of worship still feature this original, simple design.
King's Eye: A widely-used symbol of Vydryss, the design features an eye with two swords crossing behind it, one white and one black. The twin swords are a common staple in religious items, as they reflect the blades wielded by Lord Vydryss himself, a reminder that the elementary concepts of light and darkness were brought to Arpegea by him. The eye's color varies, but most depictions make the eye gray or green. Often one sees this in carvings or as hanging decorations on walls.
Dark Blade Necklace: One of the trinkets modeled after Vydryss' swords, the trinket features the blade of the black sword and the crossguard on the hilt. Unlike other depictions of the blade, the crossguard in the trinket is also black. The charm is enchanted to protect from opposing dark magic while augmenting one's own.
