For some reason I feel like I need to do this x)
I hope this helps someone to make great blood and I will see more blood in other artists' work.
I understand that blood is highly dependent on style and context, and do not insist on the universality / uniqueness of the reference. But at least there is a handy palette here c:

Oxygenated blood is brighter than deoxygenated blood (which is why you can see bright red edges on fresh venous blood, though it will all brighten eventually from oxygen in the surrounding air).
A perfusion machine is a good place to see the contrast directly. These machines replace the lungs and heart during open heart surgery (and probably other surgeries) which gives a direct contrast between oxygenated/deoxygenated blood. It can be neat to see them side by side during surgery.

tbh with this level of detail you could become a forensic scientist on homicides, studying blood patterns! this is a very good tutorial on blood, thank you!
