"Not being tense but ready. Not thinking but not dreaming. Not being set but flexible. Liberation from the uneasy sense of confinement. It is being wholly and quietly alive, aware and alert, ready for whatever may come.”
- Bruce Lee, Tao of Jeet Kune Do
What makes a good martial artist? Zero fear. Complete calm. No distractions.
Very few can ever eliminate all of that. But it's not as simple as "eliminating" them. One must accept their weaknesses and correct them, be willing to learn from them. From all mistakes until there are none left. With nothing left to worry over, there is true focus.
Sebby is always working on being a better shinobi. Some days are easier, some days are more difficult. But he ultimately learns to assess his past mistakes and remove any doubt in his mind, not be the common martial artist that shames himself even over small errors of judgment. All that is left thereafter is nothingness. And in nothingness, there is no excuse to not flexible, alive, aware, or alert.
Even as he balances effortlessly on a wooden beam, as he has no distraction lingering in his mind in his time of self-training, no senses hinder him. This German Shepherd is but a good martial artist, ready for whatever may come.
A little something I wasn't expecting halfway into the first month of this year! See, got in touch with me via Notes after checking out more of her latest drawings and otherwise being a faithful Watcher on her page, and she thanked me very much for my ongoing support! And why wouldn't I support her? After all, her quality is insanely good!
As a matter of fact, she went as far as to offer me a gift in the form of a drawing! Well how could I say no to that offer!? So I happily threw refsheets of my characters at her. In the end, she chose my shinobi pup, Sebby, and she just as happily whipped up this outstanding final product two days later!
Where to begin!? Superb choice on the pose, showing off that graceful poise and balance the puppy has; great positioning with the legs and the arms and how natural that pose looks! Excellent job on the overall body tone and shaping, keeping that overall slender, fit look he's got! Nice, soft expression the G-Shep has on his face, showing how calm and "Zen" he is! Amazing how his hairdo is drawn with that graceful flow in the breeze; very fluid and wavy in motion! Very well done with the attention to detail on the clothing, especially with the folds and creases! I love the added creative freedom throwing on a water design on his cheongsam! The monochromatic approach for the colouring is executed rather well! Simple but effective tones and colour palettes to set the mood for a solemn training session! The "sun" in the background really adds to the scene (it could even be a moon as well)!
Remember how you were worried if you did Sebby justice, ? Well no need to worry! You've done a ton of justice for my femboy G-Shep shinobi! Thank you so very much! And this was all just for me supporting you and your ongoing creative endeavors? You're far too sweet! Thank you so much!
And if you're reading this, , whenever I get around to it, I'd certainly love to return the favor and draw something of Clarity~!
