Name: Noah Hawkins
Team: Piolita Foragers
Position: Second Baseman
Age: 31
Formerly a journeyman at second base, Noah's career was revitalized once a breakout year pushed him to finally grow into the coveted slugger his draft team envisioned him being. After punching his ticket to a pair of all-star games, Noah walked into free agency with the luxury to dictate wherever he wanted to go. Of course, he went home.
It was something of a pilgrimage. Being a Forager was a dream for any raccoon who learned the game in the now-bustling metropolis of Piolita. The city's first teams were composed only of the species, inspiring posters of heroes plastering the bedrooms of hopeful adolescents, and iconic blue jerseys signed and framed on the walls of downtown stores. It was everything Noah was obsessed with growing up. Now, he could be one of those names too.
He's now a fan favourite for more than just his play. Off the field, Noah’s notoriously great with kids. While he might dread the autograph requests of other adults, nothing makes those jitters slip away like the opportunity to make a young fan’s day. Post-retirement, he sees himself becoming a teacher. He’s already a best-selling children's author, in fact, having written Barry the Bat Baked That?: a picture book about a magical talking baseball bat who finds use as a bakery's prized rolling pin after being thrown away by his old owner.
Baking's another passion of Noah's, as his family's had a store running for generations—far before him or the Foragers or downtown Piolita even existed. The store’s walls have been eternally stocked with decades-old memorabilia from those first teams. Since Noah’s first game, any remaining empty space has been filled with a colourful exhibit of the distant teams he’s played for, all adorning his name on the back. Now, in the centre of it all, hangs the powder blue of the hometown hero.
